  2. Hi Jim..i checked all fluids on sunday morning like i do every sunday and everything was fine.I've put the car into my local garage tonight and they seem to think it's a sensor too but won't know until tomorrow when they get it onto a code reader.I've got my fingers and toes crossed thats all it is but my luck is terrible so i'm expecting the worst but hoping for the best.
  3. Can anyone enlighten me as to the fixings holding on the back bumper? Mine is secured by cable ties, apparently placed after the car had some welding done on the wheel arches. Is there a diagram of the necessary parts available anywhere. Thanks in advance.

  5. Car won't start (2014, 130k miles) it was throwing up some EGR related error codes (P245a). It's had a new EGR valve fitted, but no joy. Took it to a specialist who didn't do much investigation, said there was no fuel getting to the injectors and will need a new high pressure fuel pump. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Or have any clue what might be the issue. Cheers
  6. Hello There, I am a new and proud owner of a 2002 S-TYPE R . To maintain it I purchased an IDS SDD kit from tools4car. It is running from windows XP laptop. I can read almost all of the ECUs except the ECM and the rear sensors ECU. To be able to solve the ECM reading I have to go the configuration menu then select configure existing module then select Engine management then when asked for file K16_s42pm.bin I cancel the process (I didn't try to downlod this file). Only after all that the communication with ECM is back. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on ?

  11. Hi Wendda, I am afraid the choices within the Jaguar range are somewhat limited. You may care to look at the X-type Estate, which is a brilliant and oft times overlooked car. Still plenty around, but finding a good one might be the challenge. An alternative, with a bigger budget, is the XF Sportbrake. These are real Jaguars and have absolutely acres of space inside. None of these will have hybrid of course, but you will find petrol versions. N6 JMX
  12. Hi, I am Newbie to Jaguar Forum. I have 2009 X Type 2.2 Diesel SE DPF, 93 k miles. Have had this car for nearly 2 years and the Cigarette lighter/auxiliary socket does not work. The fuse was blown and when replaced, the power socket worked for a few seconds, then fuse blew & flattened the battery completely in seconds. Charged Battery and Socket still not working. Looks like the fuse is powered live constantly. Think should be powered with the ignition circuit. any ideas how to fix this problem ?
  13. If only there was an X260JSH!!! Or X 260S JH Or X265JSH Ho hum!
  14. I had a similar problem with my S Type and the mechanic found a perished vacuum tube (black rubber 10mm approx) going to the engine block. On replacement, the problem went away.

  17. Hi Kadir, do you know the age of the battery in your car? If it were still the original, then a suggestion to fit a new battery - and tell the car via the OBD port that a new battery has been installed - would be number 1 on my list. Modern cars, especially Jaguars, are extremely sensitive to battery voltage spikes and the battery's ability to start the car is no longer the prime indicator that the battery is still fit for purpose. After the battery reaches 5 years old, it needs to be considered for replacement - even if your local garage does a test and says it's fine! Receiving multiple, apparently random, error messages is a first sign that all is not well with the vehicle's battery. There are others - such as Stop / Start being inoperative for lengthy periods. Consider changing the battery for a correct rated replacement if you are unsure of the battery's age. N6 JMX
  18. Jim, thanks for the ‘heads up’.
  19. Thanks John, should have a chance to get to it this weekend, it's running fine at the moment. annoyingly. At least if it just broke I could fix it.
  20. Hi Andy, given that the headlining of a convertible is not affixed to a board, but more akin to a tent, it might be possible to have a decent upholsterer make you a new headlining using the old one as a template. You could then make it in Alcantara or other exotic material as you desire. For the A-pillars and top rail, there was an article in the March 2021 issue of the JEC magazine regarding recovering these with a faux leather purchased from eBay. If you don't have access to the back copies of the magazine - they are available online digitally for JEC members - drop me a PM with your email address and I will see if I can forward you a copy. 21. Hi Fraser, to be clear you should highlight you are looking for an "original S-type" from 1963 - 1968 as opposed to the Modern S-type from 1999 - 2007. N6 JMX

  25. Our 2008 3.0 S-Type (VIN N84369) needs a new coolant temperature sensor, but I can't figure out where it is. The official shop manual is no help; the diagrams are worthless. Can anyone tell me where the sensor is located? Thank you!
