HI. My temperature gauge in dash does not register unless I am in heavy traffic: motorway cruising and it stays at bottom of dial. I think its the sensor either stuck or broke and for the price of another on I want to replace it: however asking how easy or difficult that is in terms of access from the top of the engine? Thanks

Hi - I've seen this fault discussed a lot under x250 motors but not x260 as the design of the routes for the wiring is different. My car is showing the boot lid as not shut when it is and I believe its a wire fault in the loom - however I cannot find a supplier for a new loom - not sure I want to get into ebay unless necessary. Could anyone point to a supplier or got a solution by experience? Thanks

finally sorted it, and it was such a simple fix, if anyone experiences this problem here are the simple steps to fix the issue, 1. open boot and disconnect the neg (-) terminal 2. leave disconnected for 5 minuets 3. touch the negative (-) lead to the positive (+) and hold it there for 30 seconds. 4. close boot lid manually. 5. press and hold pan roof open button. you may also have to reset the handbrake by holding down the foot brake and applying the handbrake. after doing this mine is all working fine even on the remote fob. hope this might help anyone else with the same issue i had.

You're welcome - as an afterthought, if it's not sensing the CKP, it could be the other sensor is doing what it should but as there's an incorrect signal from the CKP, it reads the other one as faulty too. I'd do a reset after fitting the CKP and see what you've got.

Welcome aboard and GLWTS - always wanted an XJ-S of that age and it has the twin headlamp conversion i've always preferred. Sadly i recently splashed out on something for practical purposes rather than an "occasional" car or i'd be biting your had off - i'm sure someone else will feel like i do so i doubt it'll hang around for long!

The local car dismantlers will not accept them as they are already off the car and could be stolen ?.the car has since been scrapped after i sold the body engine and gearbox. To a buyer who wanted to fit the running gear into a mk11 capri

Making the rear drop links suitable for fit. Created a 17mm hex from the boot/bearing surface and reduced the bolt length, since the deflector prevents use of a spanner and the extra length blocks a socket.

Had some goof hit the door & front wing. Waited until a breaker had parts then swapped the door (same paint code) -£30 and filled/painted the wing. What is wrong with some people (insurance assessors)?

Hi Martin - Confused we are! The XJC does not have a canvas part. On the other hand, the XJSC does have a "Hard Top + a Canvas Rear" - what car are you looking at? Photo please. N6 JMX

Hi Neal and welcome. Lovely looking car 🙂 As a starter I would suggest you acquire a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up and if the battery is at all suspect, or over 5 years old, I would replace it as lots of those "surprise electrical issues" are the result of low battery voltage. Good luck with your custody of the old cat 🙂 John

No doubt the usual sorta things. Electrical stuff. Windows, side rear mirror adjusters, no odometer, gas gauge are the most egregious at the moment.

Has anyone replaced the complete dash top on the x250 . Mine has suffered the dreaded heat bubble. And lifting. But have managed to get a 2nd hand one in mint condition. Now just need to swap it out

Hi Nicholas, suggest you talk to the folks at SNG Barrett for more insight, but be aware that they also will want to sell you the parts. The best person I know to ask about the upgrade to this type of Jaguar is Ken Jenkins, who trades his garage as Carlton Autos Ltd. Website link below. Hi Mark, not exactly in London, but I have heard good things about Cotswold Automotive Parts (CAP) in Oxfordshire, who have repaired a number of electronic faults on members cars in the past. Website link below: Jaguar & Land Rover parts and accessories | Bicester N6 JMX -
Hi Ade, welcome to the Forum and sounds like you have a plan in mind for your Jaguar. Not sure that red leather in the XF was ever an option but I am sure others with more knowledge will be along soon. If it wasn't an "off the shelf" choice from new, you may have to get creative and go for a full retrim of the seats. In the meantime, you could try a few of the specialised Jaguar Breakers, like Autoreserve or Eurojags, they would seem like the most appropriate option for now. N6 JMX

I've found a lot of YT posters do a "Part 1" and "Part 2" to increase their views. Might be worth tapping on the posters ID pic and then "Videos" to see if there's another in their collection explaining the refill procedure. It's different for many models in the Jaguar range so i don't want to mention the method i know in case i send you on a wild goose chase.

Hi Jackie Sounds like you have a similar problem to one I had during lockdown. I let the battery completely discharge through lack of use. When AA got it started all OK except both rear doors remained locked and would not open. Mine was sorted under warranty but I understand a garage with the Autologic software can sort it quickly. I think the problem is that low voltage corrupts the software in one of the many computer modules so it needs re-coding. I have heard that these guys could help: https://www.eandeservices.co.uk/ They are in Luton but might be worth a call... Good luck John

I can't be sure on this but i've a feeling Smarty piggy-backs off Vodafone so may be worth getting your original SIM checked that they work in normal phones and/or substituting a known working SIM into the car in case there's a fault in the car system, rather than the SIM cards.

Glad to hear you're all up and running again, worthwhile clearing that fault code for the furure - if something else happens and someone plugs in a reader it will show up and probably give a red herring to the diagnosis.

Hello Jim, Thanks for your Bagworld information , I will give them a buzz. Regards richard
