  2. It seems that the centre bearing for the prop shaft on the XF model is unavailable even from main dealers, except as part of a full prop shaft which they will happily sell you at Circa £1,303 plus VAT Such items are available for other Jaguars and for most other car models at costs ranging around £40 or so. This seems like extortion on the part of Jaguar (If Jaguar can get them surely someone must be making them, any ideas or leads?)
  3. Prime suspect with these symptoms is the key itself - if you have a spare key, try that before anything else. There is an RF-ID chip inside the key, these can fail at any given moment in time with no warning. If they do, the car will not turn over. Also try locking/unlocking several times in a row with the remote fob.
  4. I was born in Poland hence S100 bring back many memories as it is somehow similar to what I used to see on the road on a daily basis. Although I never owned one, my father used to drive Fiat 125p and later on FSO Polonez Caro which was hell of a clunker. The comparison to the Tacoma narrows bridge seems to be spot on to what I am experiencing! There is a high chance you are right with the propshaft. I will have it checked too and will post the outcome in case anyone else had something similar in the future. Hopefully it will not end up on a whole propshaft replacement...
  5. Hi Paul, With your car there is no problem with disconnecting the battery as you don’t have the BMS (battery monitoring system) fitted. I have the icarsoft i930 for mine which is perfect for what I want and it will tell you which sensor is at fault. If you go the icarsoft route then make sure you buy from a reputable source and it is Jaguar specific.

  7. About 90 miles ago (after a 30 mile motorway dash) the red warning light shaped like an engine came on and stayed on , i.e. "engine/transmission emissions issue" . Had a diagnostic this morning ... nox sensor and injector need replacing! But - after being on continuously for 3 days/90 miles the light didn't come on when I started up this afternoon and has stayed off throughout an hours drive ... ??!! Any ideas/similar experience please? Thanks in advance
  8. Have a leak coming from lower reservoir tank. This has happened 4 years ago. To buy a new tank isnt expensive but the labour charge is. My question is why do you need this additional tank. Why cant the pipes from expansion tank be enough. Sorry if this is a silly question but im not a mechanic.
  9. Thanks Gents, literally just found the hose I needed at a dealership in Ireland. Managed to find someone with access to Jaguar stock list. Apparently I managed to snag the only one in the UK. I did consider the custom hose route, that was going to be my next move if Jaguar couldn't supply them. All back on the road now.
  10. Thanks, Jim. I haven't seen a function to allow me to have the rear view camera on without reverse being seleected but I will investigate further. The 2016 model doesn't normally suffer from the boot wiring issue of the earlier models but I must admit that the wiring was my initial thought. My local garage are pretty good on electrical issues and they tell me that they have encountered many issues with JLR cameras.

  12. Thanks Jim, forgot about the Halfords colour match system, I have found a local specialist who would refurbish the wheels, just about to find out how much he charges, he comes highly recommended and would also do the wheels at your home if needed. Many thanks again for your advice.
  13. Check out the Furniture Clinic, who seem to have a fix for just about everything. https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/wood-care-products/wood-repair-products N6 JMX
  14. I have a small crack in the wood trim on the driver's door (under the M in Meridian). I think it's the plastic covering. How do I fill in the crack and keep it from spreading?
  15. Hi Dave, thank you for being good enough to take time to take and send these pics. After the weekend settling of the overheating event I have decided to purchase a new top hose and heater control valve and have them fitted. I shall be putting forward to my guardian angel a compression test done and also a cooling system pressure test. Also if possible flow test the rad as well. I think this is the best way forward for now. I've also bought a new radiator expansion tank cap. Thanks again for all you help, regards, Tony.
  16. Hi "You can connect direct to the battery terminals" Just a slight correction to above. My understanding is that you should NOT connect directly to the -ve earth terminal on the battery itself, but to a good body earth point. I use the spare wheel mount. The Battery Monitoring Module sits on the -ve battery connector and so if the charge current by-passes it rather than flowing through it gets confused as too how much charge the battery has 🙂 Jim is spot on saying you will need an AGM compatible charger. I use the CT5 START/STOP and have a CTek extension which runs into the boot above all of the floor covers so I can just "plug and play". IMHO it is worth doing a regular top-up charge as these are VERY battery hungry cars. John

  19. Hello, Is anyone interested in buying 2 Jaguar XJ8 catalytic converters Part numbers: NNG 6700AA NNG 6701AA
  20. Aftermarket maybe? Don't think my 2001 has such a thing.
  21. Hi I'm looking to do CCF edits. Any recomendation on what and where to buy? Thanks
  22. Good question. I've used an Autel AP200 white so far. Annoyingly it doesn't list the 2.0 petrol engine, but when I select diesel most things seam to work. I would like one to change configuration options (CCF file)
  23. Thanks for the Picture Simon. Mine came without a wheel chock. I happen to have a LR one that looked the same but couldn't get it to fit, until I saw your picture with the chock sticking out of the foam. I see from ebay that an after market company are selling spare wheel kits these days. Called RoadHero
  24. Hi John, I’ll let you know how I get on. Thanks again for your interest. Alastair.
  25. I have exactly the same problem with both my front windows my 2008 XJ Sovereign. Did you manage to resolve it? I’ve only recently purchased mine and will be looking into it.
