  2. Welcome aboard Jim. Sorry to hear of the fate of your XJ but things sometimes happen that way - might not seem like it at the time but it's probably for the best. Hope you enjoy Zero!
  3. Hi From Jim Just signing in as a new member, but not really, I joined in last year as I was about to lose the battle with my 4Ltre XJ8 308 I think. I hereby confirm that I lost the battle, and Cat, as she was known to the family, has gone to the great scrap yard in the sky. She was a fabulous car I bought her new for about 54k in 2000 and had 23years of wonderful driving in her. She looked just like the day I bought her, as I always kept on top of the bodywork, but she then went and failed the MOT. A local engineer then agreed to do a quality welding job for me, only to take all of the 拢1000 to do the underside, have it totally dismantled, cut up and on axle stands, all the new parts made ready for reassembly, he then went and died on me! I know what I should not have done, but. End of story. However, I did make contact with Mark on here, member name Ashton, who helped me enormously with his knowledge of X150 models he was Chassis engineer on the X150, amongst other things. He led me along all the bewildering nuances of the XK range, which he won't ever really know how much I valued this. Eventually, after quite some time sorting out what I really wanted and then realising as a 75-year-old pensioner I could not afford one, but I came very close and have just taken over the new "Jag". This one is called Zero (let you know why this name at a later point in time) She is a Silver Grey XKR 4.2 litre Convertible. I have to say I am besotted with this monster, what a car, and it seems well looked after. That's part two, concluded, recorded and reported. I will report again as I get used to Zero and keep you all informed. I am new to this forum and not sure how things work, but I thought the best way to find out is to do it my way (first post) and see what comes out of any response. Best Jim

  5. Having switched my allegiance from SAAB to Jaguar in or around 2008, purchased my first XF (Diesel second hand ) in 2010. See below next to my last Saab which I also still have. Owned two further XFs before switching to my current 2017 XF-S supercharged petrol. Love this car and will probably hang on to it forever 馃槣 . No intention of switching to EV despite test driving a Tesla S in 2019 ( ludicrous mode is exactly what it is) .
  6. Hi, new member here! I'm on my 5th Jag (XJS, XKR, XJ, XJR and currently driving about in a XJ 3.0i petrol Supersport with Blackpack murdered out spec). Invested in a SeaSucker the other week and just wondered if anyone else has tried them. Thanks Hugo
  7. Not done it myself but you warm the badge up with a hair dryer and use fishing line to remove the badge. If you're not a fisherman, I believe that dental floss makes a good alternative! 馃槈
  8. Good Morning to you all, Please could someone help me I want to get rid of the 2.0d badge on the right hand side of the boot and replace it with a Portfolio badge on my XE Portfolio Please help Thank You Lee

  15. Thanks very much for your comments. Regards Alan
  16. Start with the basics, check the diff oil level. It takes about 750ml of fluid and is simple to suction out and refill, not a bad idea since original 19yr old fluid will be in there. I use Smith & Allen FS 75w-140.
  17. Thank you Jim, simplifies things when you have an idea of what does what! I have found the fault and rectified it in a couple of minutes, problem was the vacuum module which is located under the battery tray, for some reason one of the multi pin plugs was not fully connected?? Don鈥檛 know why? It鈥檚 now making full contact and system is working properly! pedal is now solid. Just have to put everything back together again and job done! I am surprised that I didn鈥檛 get a DTC for this fault. Thanks again Regards Steve H.
  18. Still available, I don't have an XJR to put it on !
  19. Here is the electrical manual for your car, figure 05.1 refers. http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/CarPDFFiles/JaguarXType/2007XTypeElectrical.pdf
  20. Only SDD/IDS can access immobiliser faults. Then you can remove the battery sounder and strike it off the dealer options. A fault signal from the battery sounder will trigger the main alarm. Diagnostics will tell you if a module is playing up, all in all recommended. Until then you are doing as much as you can.
