cars have come on so far over the years my first car being a Austin a35 what was yours ?

an old 306. was a biker for years before my first bike was a honda c90

My first car was in 1970. I also was a biker from age 16. had to many to recall. first car was a beatle , exported from Germany in 1947.no hydraulics just cables. Loved that VW.

My first car was a Triumph Herald in 1965 which died in 1968 of terminal rust plus electrical failures. I serviced it every 25k miles and it had 99k on the clock when I took all the good bits out and took the rest to the tip.

I had been a biker before that and had one of the first 6 Honda Dreams in the UK, and also a Triumph T100 which blew up on what was then known as the Preston by-pass on the 12th June 1964.

Peter.

My first car was a Datsun Cherry 100A 1976 not that brilliant but can't complain as my grandparents gave to me, since then 3 Fords, 2 Vauxhalls, 2 Austin's, Toyota , Volvo and now the XType the best of all.

Andrew

After completing my apprenticeship on Lambretta's namely SX200's moving on to a Norton I graduated with a D plate (1966) Vauxhall Viva HA Model, Many Mini's came and went including Coopers S's' Ford Lotus Cortina, TR4, TR6, Stag then children came along which reduced me to Siera's, Caveliers and the like until they got older went off to University whereupon I ventured to pastures old purchasing a number of SL and SLK Mercedes

  • 3 months later...

the first car i sat my backside into was a ford zodiac mk3 which was my dads love'd that car big bench seats tail fins & all, past my test in that thing  since then ive had a few  ( jags fords audi merc citroen ) to name a few.

and i can still remember the number plate 3717 DP     HOW SAD IS THAT

The first car I ever sat in was a Rolls Royce, and it came to our terraced house to pick me and my grandfather up to take us to the local Rugby League match in September 1945.  A beautiful black car with plenty of room in the back, as it was a hearse, and the owner was the local undertaker who was a friend of my grandfather.

Peter.

My first was a - 1949 Morris Minor -Convertible-I know she had a -918cc- side valve

engine --she was 10 yr old when I bought it but in really good condition -60 mph top

speed and about 40 mpg--wish I still had her .???

The first car I owned was a Triumph Herald, which died of terminal rust when it was a mere 6 years old with 99600 on the clock, with a top speed of 86 mph from a 1200cc engine.

I then bought an Austin A40 Farina, with a 998cc engine and a top speed of 65 mph!

Peter.

Funny enough Peter a mate of mine bought a white Rolls Royce, his wife had a wedding shop and business and they rented the car out for weddings. One weekend living in Merthyr Tydfil we decided to take the Roller up to Twickers to watch England v Wales.

We had some funny looks in Twickenham car park when we climbed out in our scruffy Levi's and T'shirts pulled a picnic basket out of the boot which included a bottle of champers

Same for me, viva HB which died of rust, followed by a Dolomite 1850 which died when I took out a keep left bollard and ripped the sump iff and crumpled the wings :-(
