Auto-fold wing mirrors and Sticky boot latch

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

Hope this finds you well.

2 things I thought I could live with when I bought a 2005 X-Type AWD Automatic Petrol Jag in Summer 2020.

Firstly, pressing the button ( on interior door handle ) to fold/unfold the wing mirrors. I would love to be able to do this with key fob when locking/unlocking the the car. Is there a synchronising process to get this back on track?

Secondly, when using key fob to open boot ... the boot lid is sticky therfore have to push underside button above reg.plate to release the lid. Again, I would love to use key fob so the lid is released fully open. I'm pretty certain it's the a latch mechanism at fault and requires maintenance/replacement rather than struts. So, is the boot supposed to release and open fully or just unlock and followed with a manual lift ?

Please advise, and recommend a reliable Garage source to resolve these very minor but luxury tings. I'm in NW London.

Looking forward

Hello Tower, I'm new to this forum but not to Jaguars of which I've had many over the years including two 2.5 X-Type AWD Auto's one a 2003 and the other 2007.

The auto fold door mirrors using the keyfob was an option and uses a different door/mirror control module so it's not just a case of re-setting the mirrors.

The boot un-lock off the keyfob just pops the latch open, it does not lift the boot lid up, it was a safety thing mostly because of the American market. If you pressed the keyfob un-lock and the boot lid sprung up there is always the chance that it could hit someone. Newer cars with powered opening have all kinds of safety sensors fitted to detect the boot lid touching against people.
