Hi Amanda,

Not sure which Jaguar you drive I have x type.

It' can be a variety of reasons one of the simplest loose fuel cap just tighten it.

May be the battery?

have you checked fluid levels?

It's difficult to diagnose problem without error code.

I would get it checked out at garage or by, if you know one, some one with a diagnostic reader.

Hope you get it fixed quickly as it's so essential to you.

Kind Regards,

Julie.

Hi Amanda

Welcome and sorry to hear of your problem. As Julie says it would really help to know more details of your model XF, XJ, S type etc and engine type and size.

Often the cause for the Engine Malfunction light is emissions related such as a sensor or the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve getting clogged with soot. Have you noticed any loss of power (it will be noticeable if there is any)? What kind of journeys do you do? Just short trips or lots of motorway runs?

The more you can tell us about the car and the symptoms the more likely it is that someone may be able to advise..

Kind regards

John

Hi, I have a solid amber warning light on my 2013 XF 2.2.

I've had low battery warnings for over a year, which disappear for a while after a decent long run.

I wondering if the battery is causing the warning as the engine seems to be running fine?

Hi James,

Welcome to Jaguar Owners Club.

It's Possible if car is running well that it's battery, as it went off after a long run.

Perhaps get battery checked out  at garage.

But to be sure I would as above get it checked out with a diagnostic reader, as it could be a variety of things..

Kind Regards,

Julie.

Just an update, I've taken my XF for a decent run (30 mins motorway/dual carriageway) 3 days in a row and the amber warning light went off after day one and has stayed off as the battery has built up some charge. Fingers crossed.....

Jaguar's need a good Battery and a Ctek maintainer charger is worth investing in, connecting the Red + Cable from the Ctek to the Positive + on the Battery and the Black -- Cable from the Charger onto the Chassis.

Some owner's keep the Ctek connected to the Battery until they need to use the car.

i had my engine management light go on today in my x-type,took to garage for diagnostic reader check.it was a sticking agr valve, which he cleared by driving the car hard, for a few miles,he told me not to use supermarket fuel all the time because it lacks the additives to clear diesel  soot, and to use bp or shell ets about a third of fill ups

Welcome to the club, Ian.

I take it that AGR valve is the EGR valve.  I had the same when I first got my s type [2013 years ago].

My s type has a two EGR valves and early on I found that when the engine light came on a did give  the V6 engine a bit of a blast.  I soon found out that a better way of curing the Sticking EGR valves was to use premium diesel and every other fill up the introduction of an additive [Millers Oil Diesel Power ECO Max] which only costs about £12 for about 6 months usage.  It has never failed me!

Regards,

Peter.

+1 for the CTEK chargers, a must if your cars not in daily use

keeps the battery tip top, got a Jaguar on my S-type R and never had any warning lights in over 6 years, well recommended

cheers

Joe

I also have a CTEK charger —  I got the idea from Joe.

I had a electric socket put in just outside my garage, which makes it much easier.

Peter.
