I'm told my S-Type "BP51KMK" is a pre prototype and shouldn't have been sold to the public. These cars are apparently, either destroyed on completion or kept in museums. I would like to find out more about the car but don't know where to start, so would really appreciate any advice on the subject.

I'm not saying you're wrong, DVLA has her listed as normal and a 51 reg car made in 02 is way after the early models, so not pre prototype for that reason. Unless she was an early one to have the 4.2?

Your V5 doc lists the type approval number. You could check this, if it's type approved, it's unlikely to be anything weird I suspect.

hi

what model s-type is it, what engine

theres were early production cars, there were a few s-type R's

the s-type R's that were prototypes had reg number BP51 KNW, BP51 KNT, BP51 KNR, BP51 KNS, BP51 KNU, BP51 KNV, BP51 KNW, BP51 KNX, these were proto types and still on the road.

also most prototypes had no emisions listed, so none were ulez exempt like a S-type  R usually is.

just early production, none were destroyed.

cheers

Joe
