  1. Well it passed its annual with no advisories. Its 10th and 10th with no advisories. Nothing found with the H/B either but the battery was leaking so it had definitely had its day. Hopefully that was the cause of its little hiccup over the weekend.

  2. Hi Guys, Just wanted to let all the UK s-type owners know about a great way to save some cash if you have a repair come up. I recently joined the AA and took out their breakdown parts cover, it costs me £19 a month and I am covered for 5 repairs a year up to £500 each. The reason I'm posting about it is that I've just had to claim on it and it's surprisingly easy. I had a coolant leak on the way home from work, so I called out the AA patrol and he suggested it maybe the water pump and couldn't fix it so, he said to take it to a garage. I did and I've just had the water pump replaced for the grand total of £35 (which is the excess payment) The mechanic told me this is a £300 job usually so I got out of paying that thank goodness! Might come in handy if you are worried about garage bills. GingerPower.

  3. Hello Everyone Firstly I must say that these are my opinions and not condoned or endorsed by the club. I am now in my fifties and one thing that I find sad is that the word "help" is treated by so many people with suspicion It as though they are waiting for " but it will cost you" Clubs like this in my opinion help restore the values I was taught as a child. Members genuinely help others with no hidden agendas it's just good old fashioned "I will help you" and so I would like to help someone I have six new pencil coils and gaskets that I bought for my s type my disability stopped me fitting them for a while and when I felt well enough to have a go at changing them I found that the connection on the new ones is too small so if someone wants them and can pick them up they can have them no strings just in the club spirit of help they are free

  4. Welcome to the Club, Mike. We make good cars in Brummagem! My S type even knows the way to Dorset! Regards, Peter,

  5. The way I would approach the corroded hose issue is to first get a good general consensus on their expected service life from various people who know the cars, specialists etc. If your findings indicate that either the corrosion should have been obvious at the time of the pump change / that it should be replaced with the pump / the pump should not have been changed / anything favourable etc. then see if someone with a bit of clout will back you up arguing the point to Jaguar. If you can argue convincingly that there was specific negligence involved rather than just saying that you would hope it to last longer than it did and that you don't think the pump should have been changed then you will be in a much stronger position. Unfortunately ten months is a long time for bad workmanship to show up and far exceeds the limitation for mechanical faults following an MOT for example. Also a seven year old car is considered old by manufacturers. I know, I know, it is ridiculous. Personally I don't have any experience arguing this sort of thing when the sale or servicing of goods are involved but I have put negligence cases together so know the value of a short, sharp and to the point argument (with plenty hidden up your sleeve). To be honest I'm not optimistic of you getting too far with them but if you're really going for the throat then my lack of confidence should do nothing but spur you on!
