  2. Sorry to hear about your incident. I know that a lot of supermarkets do have signs stating that they are not liable for any damage caused whilst parking there. Is the bumper badly damaged or can it just be reattached?
  3. Glad to hear that Graham...I suppose the only solution now is to turn up the radio :)

  6. Hi Ian, I have looked at Navteq's website and have pasted the instructions for updating below. I'm sure you have carried it out as instructed but its always worth checking! The only points I can see that may affect successful download are points 4 and 9. Also check out ** An on screen instruction may appear on the touch screen giving instructions the "map update has paused", please press the "cancel" button to continue the update. How do I update the navigation map data with the USB stick? 1. Slot the USB stick containing the navigation map data into the USB interface. 2. Follow the instructions on the touch screen*. 3. Enter the map activation code. 4. During the update of the navigation map data, navigation, entertainment and telephone features are not operational until the update is completed. 5. The USB stick must not be disconnected from the USB interface during the update process. 6. If the ignition is switched off during the map update, the update will continue automatically next time the vehicle is started**. 7. Once updating is complete, a message is displayed on the touch screen. Press "OK" to restart the navigation system, and then remove USB stick immediately from USB interface. 8. Allow 3 minutes for navigation to restart. 9. Exit, lock the vehicle and leave for at least 15 minutes before using the navigation system. * The on screen instructions refer to "disk" during the download process of a DVD based system. The USB procedure is identical. ** An on screen instruction may appear on the touch screen giving instructions the "map update has paused", please press the "cancel" button to continue the update.
  7. Hi Tommyjag, Glad the solution was immediate replacement of a faulty part...these things happen. Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come and that you thoroughly enjoy your Jag over the forthcoming years. Regards Trevor
  8. Hi Graham I would advise that any knocking noise is checked out sooner than later. There are several possible causes for suspension knocking....worn or damaged dampers, broken road springs, anti-roll links and bushes worn/broken, loose wheel nuts, etc. I would take it to a local garage or dealer, but either way a professional diagnosis is not difficult or expensive and it can certainly put your mind at rest. Let us know how you get on regards Trevor
  9. Generally, some new bushes can squeak from new...a way around this would be to remove them and spray liberally with Silicon. However, I imagine the noise will disappear as they wear in after a short time. Let us know how it progresses....hopefully it won't drive you mad! regards Trevor
  10. Glad to hear you have given the old girl new life! Long may you continue to enjoy it :)
  11. We have just launched a new Club Shop website to showcase our club merchandise and gifts. With it now being less than 50 days until Christmas, Mufflebox may provide some solutions to the dilemma of 'what to get for the car enthusiast'. http://www.mufflebox.com/collections/jaguar-1
  12. Hi Jagalex if you could email me your contact details (full name, address) and I will pop one in the post for you. please email me on: trevor.catt@autoclubsinternational.com. All we would ask, is for you to upload a photo of your car proudly displaying the Jaguar Owners Club sticker to place in our Gallery :) regards, Trevor
  13. Hi Mike...and welcome to the club ! I have looked on eBay and there are several different replacement consoles being offered. May be a bit of work to swap them over but I think the end result would justify the time and expense http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC0.A0.Xjaguar+x+type+centre+console&_nkw=jaguar+x+type+centre+console&_sacat=0&_from=R40 regards, Trevor
  14. Hi Dave There may be several causes for this....one that crops up a lot is when the vehicle's battery is on its way out, this can trigger the blinking display. Other possible causes could be the display module going faulty and also loose connections. I would start by checking the vehicle battery with a heavy discharge test to establish the condition of it, especially as the weather is now getting colder. Hope this helps? Regards, Trevor
  15. not sure...sounds like its bonded on with double sided sticky tape?
  16. It should be in the armrest, if not check the glovebox
  17. p.s. I was a Rover man for many years...great cars, but not as good as Jaguar though!
  18. Hi Peter....a sticker is on its way to you as we speak Regards, Trevor
  19. Hi Peter....and welcome to the forum ! I have to say from past experiences that I would stick to the Pirelli's or another top brand (e.g. Michelin, etc). Had problems with Vredesteins in the past with them feeling very vague on the road surface. Regards Trevor
  20. Hi Phil Welcome to the club ! It sounds like the familiar places on the XK. I would suggest treating the corrosion before the winter salty roads have an adverse effect on it. Regards Trevor
  21. Murray Walker tells how there's still one classic drive on his bucket list Read more of this article http://theclub.ba.com/november-2013/home-english/one-unlikely-epic-drive/ Do you have a classic drive you have already done or one lined up for your bucket list?
  22. Hi....and welcome to the club ! I'm not sure what could be the problem with the phone not picking up a signal...sounds as though the phone is faulty. Hopefully some other clubs members may have a solution for you? Regards Trevor
  23. I think Jaguar have managed to 'hit the nail on the head' with styling lately. The majority of design tweaks that have been implemented on the new models I believe are up there with their rivals (BMW, Merc, etc). Would be interesting, as you mentioned, if they do produce a coupe version and how this would affect the 'coupe' market.
  24. Hi Mike...Hi Steve, A big welcome to the club to you both ! Glad to hear that you are both thoroughly enjoying your Jags. We will be posting up an article on 'Mapping' in the near future so hopefully that will dispel any myths and confirm the positives. Kind Regards Trevor
