  1. Hi Paul, I have used Terraclean and found it quite beneficial, both in performance and fuel economy. As an aside, I was in Bergen last week and saw a Black S type with Leaper - I could not get a photo as I was on a 'bus. Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi Graham, Any car can have a factory fitted stainless steel exhaust, and your friend could well be right. The quality of steel currently used on exhaust manufacture is much improved from what it used to be. I have a lot of service history on my s type and the exhaust is in very good condition, too. Peter.
  3. The Dashboard looks OK, but the other additions are a no from me! Peter.
  4. Timing chains on both, Chris. Sorry for the delay in replying --- the satellite connection is poor in the North sea. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Graham, I might take some time out and go there on one of the days. Only an hour and a bit to drive there. Thanks for the information. Peter.
  6. Hi Chris, The x type is much maligned, especially by those who have neither owned or driven one. The engines on most modern cars are not necessarily made by the company with the badge on the front, as neither are many of the parts. Car manufactures buy their parts from specialist companies such as Bosch for electrical bits and other similar companies for other parts. When the X type was designed and produced it was in the ownership of Ford, which was not a bad thing, as Ford technology is well respected in the Industry. The design is all Jaguar although the Ford input was basically the body pan/chassis which came from a cut down Mondeo, and the engines are Ford, whose engines also power the Aston Martin, the Morgan, and a few other cars. The X type 3.0 litre AWD is a very good engine and was very popular in the USA , and I used to have a 2.5 litre AWD which was a great car to drive and described by a journalist reviewer as "nippy". The gearboxes on both models are good, and although I prefer the Auto Gearbox, my x type had the manual, with which I never had a problem. You just test drive one of each and see which you prefer. Regards Peter.
  7. Welcome to the club, Dan. The X type is a great car and the colour suits it. I hope you enjoy the club as much as you enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Bryan, You have tried the obvious method of removing glue, and I think that there could be another possibility by trying out a very mild abrasive, such as T Cut, Brasso or toothpaste. If you follow that method you will have to test it first by finding an area not normally seen --- inside the boot or in the engine bay. A very "weak" wet and dry might also do the trick. Personally, I would be inclined to leave on the model badge etc Regards Peter.
  9. HI Iain, and welcome to the club. You have a model of a similar year, also a 2.7 D SE Auto. Nice car and popular everywhere. In fact, I saw one in Black with the leaper on the Bonnet yesterday in Bergen. They do get everywhere! Regards, Peter.
  10. Welcome to the club, Jonathan. That is the first Jaguar I Have seen for two days -- Mind you, I am sailing across the North Sea at the moment. I hope you enjoy both the club and your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  11. Hi Tom, I used to have a Rover Sterling - great car - which suddenly developed a curious noise. The tyres looked OK and the steering was still firm. But running my hand round the inner edge of the nearside front tyre I found a bulge, possibly caused by a pothole. Two new front tyres and the nose had gone Regards, Peter.
  12. Welcome to the Club, Gary. Your S Type must be a head turner In Australia. It is a great car to drive --- we make good cars in Birmingham! Regards, Peter.
  13. Hi Tom, I noticed the difference when I changed to Goodyear from Pirelli. Peter.
  14. My car is due its MOT in June, just after I get back from holiday Peter.
  15. Welcome to the Club, Ryan. Nice well kept car -- She will go [when she gets the chance] like the chariot of Jehu! Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Tom, The X type sold 55,600 in its first year and 69,050 in it's second. Pretty good for a luxury car. Regards Peter,
  17. Hi Ian, and welcome to the club. Just a guess, but as you have already done the things I would have suggested, I would think it might be worthwhile checking out the connections are all clean and the earths are ok. Others with more electrical expertise as me will also assist. Regards, Peter.
  18. We have had a few, David. I and other Mods do keep a record of IP addresses which we find rather useful. I would just like to find out what their agenda is. Peter.
  19. Hi Walter, There are lots of sites that will provide a new disc for about £25. Just google jaguar x type Sat nav update. Amazon and Ebay will give you the info - I got a 2012/13 update from a site called "Sat Nav Updates" for my 07 S Type to replace the 2005 disc that was there. It works fine Regards, Peter.
  20. Sometimes there are regrettable occasions when a Moderator has to ban someone for infringing the rules of the Club, such as spamming, unseemly posts etc. On the good side they are few and far between. However, I do wonder why members who have been banned keeping visiting the Club Forums just to read what is going on? I really do wonder why. Peter.
  21. Hi Walter, You could try borrowing a disc that you know works and see what it says. Good luck. Peter.
  22. Hi Martin, It is probable that the key fob needs reprogramming. Just try looking for an auto electrician/locksmith who will do the job cheaper that a main dealer. Regards, Peter.
  23. Welcome to the Club, Ironman. I hope you enjoy the club as well as your car. Regards Peter.
  24. Your car looks great, Simon. Vibration could be tyres also. I had a front wheel vibration on a Rover Sterling, and found that there was just a small bulge, probably caused by a pothole. Regards, Peter.
  25. I have not seen anything like that round here -- most Jaguar drivers do believe that the design team know what they are doing.
