  1. Not sure about that Peter, but I've solved the original problem :) It appears that when using the ACM in iPod mode rather than the CDC, one of the CDC discs is partially loaded. What I did, which I now discover I shouldn't have, is to attempt to eject the CDC cartridge when the ACM is in iPod mode. This confuses the CDC logic, throwing up a CDC error because a disc is partially loaded and so the cartridge eject is unable to complete. The error does not affect the ACM in iPod mode and so my iPod continued in blissful ignorance when I selected CDC on the radio unit. However, each time the ignition was switched on, the system polled the CDC, discovered the error and defaulted to the most recently used alternative source, until the CDC was re-selected with the iPod having been recognised by the ACM. What I should have done is to select CDC mode (ie de-select iPod mode) on the ACM and then eject the cartridge. When I did this, the partially loaded disc returned to the neutral position and the cartridge was able to eject properly. Dead simple when you think about it ;) To confirm, I reselected the ACM to iPod mode and, again, a disc was partially loaded in the CDC. Oh well... you live and learn :)
  2. I should keep it safe if I were you Peter. If it is missing the trade in value of your car will be reduced by at least £1000 ;)
  3. My audio is suddenly throwing a wobbly :( If I'm using the CDC and switch the ignition off, when I switch back on again, the audio defaults to either CD or radio, depending upon which I had been using prior to selecting CDC. I can then select CDC and it works perfectly... until the next time I switch on the ignition. Any idea please?
  4. As you probably know if you have a diesel S Type, the flexi / downpipe from the exhausts is something of an Achilles heel. Replacement exhaust sections including cat costing eye watering amounts.and even the jaguar espoused kit still costs quite a bit by the time it has been fitted. Stratstone quoted me £700. A further solution involves removing the flexi and replacing with a rigid pipe. Personally, being an engineer, if an item is designed with a flexible coupling there is probably a good reason why, so that idea is a non starter in my eyes. There is another solution which seems to work perfectly and costs in the region of £60 per side. I have used, for many years, a relatively local Powerflow exhaust franchise and the chap there is always able to apply a little thought and come up with elegant solutions. He has now been able to use one of the Powerflow flexi modules with a fabricated flange and the original flange to make a replacement flexi section which should be a lot more robust than the original exhaust. £60 per side :) Maybe if your local Powerflow exhaust franchise is any good and enjoys a challenge, it might be the way to go forward :) Just a thought if anybody is interested.
  5. The exhaust flexi pipes are prone to crack. could be the cause if exhaust fumes in cabin. Might be the aux heater exhaust.
  6. Yes. Now I know that it can be covered up, removing the cup holder is an excellent idea for me :)
  7. Erm... sorry chaps. Have I missed something here? I thought this thread was to do with CDC?
  8. Did you get the D2B loop setup properly Barry?
  9. Blu Tac - the perfect solution. I've just been out to try it and it works :) Happy bunny me :) Thanks Peter
  10. Thanks for the picture :) What I might do is push a very small piece of foam tape under the lip and see if that quietens things down a bit.
  11. Thanks Frank :) That might be the way to go, but I think I'll try and get the grille out first to see where the problem is. I really don't want to damage it though.
  12. I wouldn't categorically say NO Kenny but I couldn't find it :(
  13. The driver's side window air vent, the one mounted on top of the dashboard, rattles at low speeds in my car and is really annoying. When i touch the vent grille the noise stops. My question is, how is the vent grille removed please? I don't want to attack it with a trim tool unless that is the correct way. Thanks :)
  14. You might need a trip to a dealer to have the cdc and bluetooth enabled in the car Barry. I was lucky and didn't need to do so for my car and the Bluetooth kit I installed in my colleague's car was also immediately recognised. Let us know how you get on :)
  15. Tried my local dealer Joe. They didn't have anything like it they told me
  16. Has anybody had their overhead console out please? I have a popped bulb but when I tried to move the console there were some ominous creaks and it seemed reluctant to move. A colleague's car was quite the opposite, where the overhead console practically fell out. What is the correct way to remove one please?
  17. That the ubiquitous centre console cup-holder can actually be hidden by the arm rest. It has only taken me six weeks to work this out. :o Oddly enough, most, if not all of the S Types I've seen have their cup-holders on display. Are their owners like me or is it that people like them visible? I certainly don't. In my view it lets down the whole of the ambiance of the interior.
  18. ... the screw which is fitted inside the sunglasses holder in the roof console? Exploring my relatively recent car, I'm still discovering things, like for example, that screw is missing. Not really OCD but I would like to replace it with the correct OEM item. Can anybody help please?
  19. Whilst puzzling over why my Bluetooth phone system didn't work, it became apparent to me that a retro-fit, from scratch should be reasonably easy and so, having bought the complete kit from JAG-DNA for £140, I proceeded to fit it in a colleague's S Type, having cut my teeth, as it were, by solving the problem with my own system. What a ridiculously simple retro-fit. Two modules and a microphone and that's all there is to it It took about 45 minutes from start to connected phone call. AND, it didn't need to be programmed in. Only problem is, my colleague now wants the Jaguar Voice system, having seen it in use in my car. Oh well, more work to be done.
  20. Happy now Problem solved. Replaced the phone controller mounted behind the Kaiser panel in the boot. Works perfectly with iPhone 6 :D As a matter of interest, I took the car to a local dealership, who wrongly diagnosed the problem as a faulty Bluetooth module, charging me £84 for the privilege, and offered to replace it for me for a very reasonable price of £991. Considering you can buy the module on fleabay for, sometimes, less than £20, and fitting it takes five minutes, I thought that a very reasonable quote... NOT
  21. Peter, if you want a copy of the Denso 2012 disk - the latest one produced - give me a PM :)
  22. Did you get all the data I sent you via WeTransfer Barry? Also, this is what you need for the Bluetooth connection in your car:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-S-type-X-type-X350-Bluetooth-Phone-Interface-Module-Microphone-BTUM-/141648090580?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20fae255d4 As a matter of interest, I bought an identical kit from the same supplier and he accepted £140 ;)
  23. Bulbs checked and both serviceable, so Pratchett's law doesn't prevail in this case. Anybody have any ideas please? I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be dedicated fuse(s) for the dipped beam lights.
