  1. Thanks peter. That did the trick!! sometimes these cars of ours never cease to amaze me
  2. Did my rear pads yesterday and due to an oversight I left the ignition on and flattened the battery ive had the battery on overnight charge and all is well with starting up but I now have a park brake fault! It says apply footbrake and parkbrake in the display but when I do that it stops for a brief second then says unable to apply parkbrake. Any ideas??
  3. I wouldn't bin it, have it welded and use as a spare. ive seen loads of alloys welded without problems.
  4. Sounds like it. Internet search should show you where it is and how to replace it.
  5. as far as I know the early cd based sat nav was woeful and too small to be of any use, also, no disc updates are available now.
  6. I have a similar gadget in my car, plugs into the lighter socket and tunes to the radio via a spare frequency then connects to my Samsung Galaxy s5 via Bluetooth. as I have around 1000 songs on my phone i select play random in the phone menu and play the songs. Theres a button on the top to skip tracks too. it also has phone buttons too and the quality of call sounds is excellent, being through all the speakers!! Cost me about £7 iirc.
  7. Oil level increase is sometimes indicative of DPF failure due to diesel getting into the oil. Just a word of warning, try not to do short runs.
  8. Next time just remove the wiper arms. Much easier!!
  9. Have you checked your tyre pressures? Critical to any car!! Get the garage to swap the wheels from the front to back, if it's a balance problem then it should transfer. front wheel imbalance is felt through the steering wheel rear wheel imbalance is felt through your seat. Also, due to the camber of British roads every car will drift left always, if it's pulling more violently then you have a definite steering problem.
  10. Forget mp3s in a jaguar. They were behind the times when it came to incar technology. They had an option of a cassette player in 2003!!!
  11. How much boot space is lost under the parcel shelf? Pits a mod I'd like to do but the wifes mobility scooter fits snugly under the parcel shelf in the boot!
  12. ok, I'll have a look at mine too. i have the 2012 disc also.
  13. screen shots would be helpful.
  14. I recall seeing a machine to do this kind of oil change on a forecourt of a garage in Leeds in the early 90's. If I remember you paid £2 and put the probe in the dipstick hole then pressed go. Only problem i can can see is your not getting the clag out from the very bottom of the sump.
  15. I was 45 when I bought my first S type. I very nearly bought an XJ6 when I was 22.
  16. What you need is the new ladybird book of car maintenance.
  17. In the petrol tank? try looking under the rear seat squab, there's usually an access hole there.
  18. Go on to www.jaguarforums.co.uk and search for user Martin rowe. He's the man for remaps.
  19. I personally wouldn't let the halfrauds knuckle draggers near my S type but that's just me.
  20. it's an absolute nightmare to retro fit. Theres a thread on www.jaguarforum.co.uk for fitting it to an X type which is very similar. you really need the diner car so you can get every loom and relay etc to swap over. Good luck!!
  21. I was right then?? Thought I'd dreamt it
