  1. Welcome to the club. On a 2000 year model it should be in the glovebox. Not sure if the cable is there like the later boot mounted changer. Try the breakers and try to get the cable if necessary. By the way, it's a ford unit so try those too.
  2. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Consult your handbook immediately and drop the pressures to 32psi all round. The 50psi it the LIMIT that the tyre can be set at for testing purposes!!! Iirc 28psi is the comfort setting and 32psi is the "normal" setting and 38psi is the fully loaded car pressure.
  3. http://www.jimrothe.com/jaguar/acm-bluetooth/acm.html Should explain it all.
  4. You've certainly had a spanking!! Has it cured the problem though??
  5. There's an acm unit that fits into the centre cubby box but it ain't cheap!! Last one I saw was around £350!! I bought a ten pound thing off eBay that tunes into the radio and connects my phone via Bluetooth to play songs etc. Only thing is you can't change tracks with steering wheel controls.
  6. FYI it's fuse F3, top left hand side of under bonnet fuse box. I removed mine yesterday as swmbo complained the the fumes got on her chest.
  7. Look in the settings at the route options, they may be set where motorway and tolls are to be avoided or quickest vs shortest routes are set. I had a problem with my 2006 disc not having a major road junction on the A55 at the English/Welsh border updated. Now I have a 2012 disc all is well. I've not had anything bad happen route wise yet with my settings.
  8. Ah yes but this ones gonna be powered by jaguar!!
  9. Picked this little gem up today. Just got a fit my towbar now!
  10. Quality is the difference at the top end of the price bracket. At the lower end it all depends on how greedy the seller is regarding profit margins. I paid around £15 for mine and after 2 years and 1 swap over its still as good as new.
  11. Hi and welcome. It's likely the heater solenoid unit, can't think what its proper name is, someone will fill that bit in soon. Not a bad job to replace but around £100 for the bit. They are prone to sticking/failing.
  12. I'm in agreement with Paul, very pleased with the oem system. More so with the latest disc in. Hopefully when your disc arrives it'll sort it's self out.
  13. Have a look in the menu for chat DVD map version you have. There's a 2012/13 disc available from satnavdvd.co.uk for £25.00, loads cheaper than a dealer disc.
  14. As you look at it there's two covers in the top corners and one at the bottom underneath the climate buttons. With a hook gently pull them off and you'll see 10mm bolts, two at the bottom and one either side at the top. Put your gear selector into the furthest away and put a towel over the wood, might be easier to remove your knob too. Then pull all the unit, radio, tape box and climate unit out in one lump, disconnect all the plugs and lift away the whole lump. To get the stereo out you have to dismantle various brackets but it's all self explanatory once you see it. There isn't a face plate for the mk1 jag but I bodged a fiesta blank plate and used the bracket with a couple of holes drilled into it to fit my Sony media player. Good luck!!
  15. Welcome to the club. Few points, logo on the calipers was only on the type R I think. Belt squeal, replace to sort. Leaper, I have one on my ultraviolet blue car and it looks ace imho, do it, you know you want to!!! I paid around £15 for mine off eBay and fitted it myself, open the bonnet and look underneath at the front you'll see a hole with a stamped circle, drill a pilot hole through the centre of that then carefully open up the hole from the outside with a step drill. Stick leaper on and tighten the big nut up. Job jobbed. I'm 46 and have had 2 S types!! Post some pics up.
  16. Hello and welcome. The S type R is an amazing vehicle and will out perform most things on the roads. The main thing to look for on a 11 yr old car is rust, especially behind the plastic sill trims and on the rear subframe. Electrical gremlins aren't too common but are usually down to a degrading battery. Try and budget for a good quality new one if its old. Other things to look out for, especially on an R model is the condition of the tyres and brakes, quite pricey to replace so, again, use that as a bartering tool. An 04 will have the zf 6spd box which has documented problems with lurch but, at 64k should be fine. Also, the engine has a chain, only the 2.7d has a belt. Everything else is the same with any "old" car, just make sure everything works.
  17. With the time and money anything is possible!!! I've even seen a merlin powered transit van! Custom mounts will be a must, 6 speed manual and the V6 is virtually bomb proof, a good auto electrician should get the engine running. Good luck and keep us posted.
  18. I would put money on that they do. All the jaguar denso systems in the X, S, XF, XJ, XK will be the same system.
  19. A remap on its own won't gain much unless it's coupled with a decent panel filter and a sports exhaust with maybe a de-cat then you should see the benefits. Go onto jaguarforum.co.uk and search for user Martin Rowe, he does remaps for all cars and is quite cheap.
  20. Isn't jaguars multi million pound developed double wishbone suspension any good??
  21. I've been lucky with buying the two S types I've bought. The first was found on a trip to find a range rover 4.6V8 but, having driven one, was put off by the size of it!! The missus spotted the jag tucked away at a second hand dealer we've used before. It had its faults but, for £325 with 9 months mot it was a deal not to miss. Used it for 6 months then sold it for £350!! Current jag was pretty straight forward. Wish list was, diesel, preferably manual, sat nav, heated leather seats. Was the 2nd we found, the first had everything but no nav, was grey and had no wood inside plus was about 200 miles away! The one we've got is everything we wanted plus it's a nice, ultraviolet blue too. Found in a used car dealer in Liverpool which was about 30 miles from us. Nearly 11months of ownership and all I've had done is the cambelt and I put a leaper on the bonnet. Mot was a joy, tester remarked how clean it was underneath!! I was going to chop it in for an XF in a couple of years but, having looked at an XF I've decided to keep it for a good long while!
