  1. HI As above really, would get a 4 wheel alignment done, which will hightlight any issues and hopefully sort it might be also worthwhile getting it plugged in to Jaguar SDD, To check the active damping is working correct, which can make a massive difference cheers Joe
  2. hi just had a look and unfortunately theres no individual fuse for that switch pack but those lights are on the dimmer switch, so you could just try turning them down a bit cheers
  3. Hi Its normal, its the backlights that make it hot, pull the fuse and it should stay cool to remove the switch, you need to remove the complete door card, then the handle/arm rest and lastly the switch cheers Joe
  4. hi great cars, I have had a STR now for a good few years why was the engine rebuilt, there quite reliable as a rule, mines 18 years old and engine still like new cheers Joe
  5. HI Can be common on these, make sure the battery is good, a low battery will cause all sorsts or problems put the battery on charge overnight, if it improves, replace with a new one cheers Joe
  6. hi yes they use that same sensor its easy enought to swap, its a just on a plug might be worth swapping it out for another one cheers Joe
  7. hi external temp sensor is behind the front bumper in the middle, internal temp sensor is on the centre console right at the top middle above the touch screen later cars had the ice warning on the dash, preface lift did not cheers Joe
  8. hi the service schedual should be in your service history booklet or have a look here http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/CarPDFFiles/JaguarXType/VehicleMaintenanceSheetX-TypeDiesel.pdf cheers Joe
  9. HI It will be on your membership card that came in your welcome pack cheers Joe
  10. hi this can be one of the switches on the brake pedal when you press the brake and move the gear stick slightly left you should hear a microswitch click by the gearstick and also a relay click by the door if you also move the gearstick slightly to the left with the ignition off, you should get a beeping noise every time you move it left if it beeps then the micro switch is ok and its possible on of the brake pedal switches, if you get no beeps then could be the microswitch on the j-gate cheers Joe
  11. Hi Mainley with S-types its corrosion, first sills, hidden by plastic covers can completely rot away, dont matter what year, also check rear sub frame, rusty rear arches usually means there not a lot of the sill left diesel ideally service history, lots of regular oil changes are best, leaky injector can contaminate engine oil and cause the common snapped crank. check brakes, servo are a really common fail on the diesel, can be expensive to source a good one check gearbox is smooth and it drives nice, lots of bushes on the s-type and gets expensive if they all need doing, check ac, make sure both sides get hot and both sides get ice cold. check electric park brake just keep applying and driving. early diesels did not have dpf's and had a lot less problems. cheers Joe
  12. hi try also Auto reserve Jaguar, just google them there also on facebook very good for spares cheers Joe
  13. hi when you say park brake do you mean the electric park brake/hand brake or getting the gearstick out of park, as you mentioned you think its the J-gate cheers Joe
  14. HI I assume its a auto, Just put the ignition on, press brake and move gearstick to N, neutral , then move it, roll it, it wont usually let you take keys back out until it in park again you ideally need a good battery, if no battery, only way is to overide the park interlock, which is more fidley cheers Joe
  15. hi there was someone else on here a few years back that had issues with pirellis that had not seen pot holes but as with all wheels and tyres, the bigger the sidewall, the more they handle pot holes, it when the tyres gets trapped between the pot hole and wheel, it damages the rubber and cords in the tyre, usually damaging the wheel as well also some of the jaguar wheels are really soft, for example 20" calisto's bend and crack so easy. so if you want the tyres to last, your better going with 19" or 18", 18" with give better protection and a more comforatable ride also I find you can buy the tyre with XL rating, xtra load, they have a reinforced sidewalls, which give slightly better handling and support the weight better and usually are no dearer in price cheers Joe
  16. hi usually free for so many years, then its a subscription cheers Joe
  17. hi most common cause is a low battery but with out plugging in with jaguar ids/sdd its all just pure guesswork could be one of many things, most common, low battery, faulty module(especially if boot gets damp), stiff cables, stiff calipers, faulty reed switch, faulty loom( usually by motor where it flaps around causing a break in the wiring, badly fitted pads, faulty epb motor(lack of lube in gearbox make them go stiff) plugging in will give you exact fault, generic code readers are useless, ideally jaguar ids/sdd, more affordable/user friendly icarsoft LR V2 or V3 cheers Joe
  18. Hi I also dont use any additives , but certain octane booster help with emissions also find by using premium fuel, you get better mpg's and it always seems to rum smoother cheers Joe
  19. Hi why would you have the battery charger working off a inverter to charge the battery. A. its not needed when the engine is running as the alternator will charge the battery B. if used while the engine is off, the inverter will flatten the battery faster than it can charge Your best to use the Ctek charge on a mains point, just when the car is not in use. cheers Joe
  20. hi its because the rear lights use a constant 12v on one side of the bulb, then the other side of the bulb goes to the rear body module and switches the earth. the wire your connection to is a earth so it wont work, you have to use a relay to convert the switch earth to a switched positive, look at pic below any relay will do cheers Joe
  21. hi yes, usually, there plug and play but pretty useless now, roads have completely changed since 2012, if search on google you can usually find links to the 2012 disc, download it and burn it to dvd for free. also if your dvd player wont read the disc, as most discs available are copies, and the dvd nav units are all getting really old now, some wont read copied discs any more, due to worn out lasers. another common problem. cheers Joe
  22. hi Theres no easy cheap way, but if your cars a keeper, I bought Jagdroid, its your old touch screen updated to android and every thing you can do on your phone you can do on your touch screen plus all the oe stuff still works fine, like acm, jaguar voice, climate, cd player, cd changer and still looks oe plus you can have usb plug and play for mp3, front and rear cameras, internet, spotify, dab , google maps, stream music from your phone and lots more, but its not cheap had mine a few years and love it jagdroid https://www.jagdroid.org/ cheers Joe
  23. hi try another dealer if not you can get codes off ebay for less than a fiver, but you will need the serial number off the single cd player as its the master unit, but only if its the xj with the j-gate and touch screen, if its the later one with rotary pop up gear selector, not sure on them models. would still try a few more jaguar dealers i know quite a few people that have phoned and got it for free cheers Joe
  24. hi the part number above is not the correct part number to order it have a look on jaguar classics or sng barratt as they list all the parts for these cars so you will get the correct part number and price cheers Joe
