hi blowing constant hot air is very rarely a aircon issues its either a faulty dual coolant control valve or climate control module, a bad dual coolant control valve, can also take the climate module out, so both may need replacing at 90% of the times cheers Joe

Hi John, Yes the Icarsoft's are very good and quite user friendly they talk to most modules, so you should be able to find the code and hopefully lead you to the fault cheers Joe
-
hi if you have no sound and the car has premium sound, is the fibre optic cabe in correct, all sound on oremium is on a fibre optic network either you left it out or its not in correct cheers Joe
-
hi what code reader are you using generic ones will only read engine faults Icarsoft LR V2 or V3 should read all the modules, if lights on then theres a code using Jaguar IDS/SDD would read it with out a dought cheers Joe

Which engine is more reliable 3.0 or 4.2?
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Alex5's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi all the engines are very good as long as there looked after the 4.2's V8's are very smooth, I have the S-type R and the engine is amazing, so smooth and can be driven very lazy and effortless, you can barely tell when it changes gear if your after a manual, thens its a 3.0 as the 4.2 is only auto, but I think if you want altimate cruiser, then it auto, they drive so much nicer cheers Joe -
hi its going be a abs sensor, you need to plug in as soon as the fault pops up without turning the ignition off if theres still no faults you also need check other modules, like dsc, gearbox as these can also cause the same fault cheers Joe

PATS Light’s flashing and my car will not crank or start
JOE-DOT-COM replied to TIM BRYANT's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi I would check all the wiring by testing it back to the ecu could be a break in the steering column wiring and you have disturbed it, would also try the old pickup coil of the old ignition switch, I'm sure they come off and can be swapped. if you need any wiring diagrams to check the wiring look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ when did it last run and what did you do after that stopped it starting. cheers Joe -

JOE-DOT-COM replied to Stevewirtz's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
HI Have you started with a basic service, filters, oils and plugs also while your in there check for any perished hoses, especially the smaller pipes they split and can cause this cheers joe -

Speedometer doesn’t work 2006 XK8
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Joe DiPrimio's topic in Jaguar Classic Club
hi dashes or instruments are coded to the car, so best option is get it repaired, theres usually plenty of place that repair them and offer great guarantees replace them and getting them coded would be a lot more expensive cheers Joe -
Hi most probable best diagnostic reader for the s-type is Icarsoft code reader basic ones less than £100 best one around £170 which is icarsoft LRV3, which will read every thing from engine to gearbox, abs airbags, suspension, everything LPG on these cars is a right pain and unless fitted 100% correct will always give fault codes. ideally for mot, you need to run on petrol and reset faults codes and leave it on petrol till its been for mot, so you should not get any codes. its when you run on lpg I bet you get codes, the car monitors everthing like fuel, and when run on lpg will give errors because fuel is not been used if you after just clearing engine codes, a cheap code reader would be ok, wont give accurate fault descriptions, but if your just clearing code will be ok, depends how much you want spend cheers Joe
-
hi P1000 is normal after code reset till its done a full drive cycle then will clear on its own P1646 is a bad lambda, are you sure you changed the correct one, if the faults still there also on the S-type, cheap lambda dont work, only denso one seem to work cheers Joe

Xj40 sovereign electrical ignition problem.
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Gordon from Gloucester's topic in 1981 to 1994 XJ

hi its more of a common problem on post 2002 cars, pre 2002 car were not as bad, climate module on later cars blow circuit board tracks inside the module and usually quite visable so easy to repair if you need any wiring diagrams or manuals have a look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
-
Hi Dave no later module wont work on earlier cars, there two completely different cars electrically cheers Joe
-
hi have a look a battery mega store, great service, next day postage, best prices https://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/ cheers joe
-
hi as all petrol s-type have timing chains not belts I assume you have a diesel. if it is the diesel, then usually water pump is not usually changed with timing belt, as its not driven by the timing belt but by aux belt, but for how much water pump costs it may be worth it for peace of mind and saving future costs as for 3 way valve, I assume you mean DCCV, dual coolant control valve, a genuine valve is £300, a bosch one, which is probably the best out there is £100, unbranded around £50, so if depends what they have fitted, should only take about a hour to change, so if its genuine part, price is ok, if its after market, then its very expensive labour for that price cheers Joe

hi are you sure the bulbs are correct type and iinstalled correct they have odd bulbs on the s-type and will go in both ways, but only one way is correct the lights have 2 permanents feed to each light, so if you touch the body it will pop fuses might sound silly but check the bulbs first, seen it so many times cheers Joe
-
hi I assume its pre jaguar ids/sdd as it still comes up invalid, looks like you car is pre 1998 so this could be the reason you can go on jaguar heritage site and email them, they should be able to tell you cheers Joe
-
hi if you buying the bolt on type, the bonnet needs drilling, there is already a round hole in the bonnet frame at the front, hole has to be in the middle of that hole cheers Joe
