Hi Thats not a bad price.

hi you can select drive with the park brake on or off because you don't have to release the park brake, you just hit the accelerator and the park brake will release itself, when in drive and also you can start the car with the parking brake off, if its in park. the car will only start in park or neutral, it could be a j gate cable or sensor fault if the P or N is lit on the j gate it should start next time it wont start, try moving in to neutral, N should be lit, see if it starts next time it wont start, try moving the j-gate stick, with the ignition on the P should flash, if it flashes, it knows its in park and should start cheers joe

Hi If you disconnected the EGR and then switched the ignition on, it will logged a engine fault and will need a diagnostic tool plugged in to reset it do you have the touch screen , you can bring up fault codes on that and reset them cheers joe

hi You need to find some one local to you who custom makes exhausts a custom built one to fit your car and built to your spec, quiet or how loud you like it, will usually cost under £500 in stainless if you buy one of the shelf and ready to fit your looking at £1000 to £1200 easy, maybe a bit more http://www.adamesh.co.uk/milltek-sport-performance-exhaust---jaguar-xk8r-40l--42l-1060-p.asp cheers Joe

Hi Only way is to plug in and see if there any fault codes if the ecu was powered up, with no sensors connected there could be errors and fault codes the ecu might even need pairing back to the car, depending on whats been replaced do you have the touch screen option fitted as on my s-type you can bring engine fault codes up on that cheers Joe -

Small squeak/squawk from gearbox on kickdown
JOE-DOT-COM replied to DaftMule's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Hi Adam My car has the ZF 6HP26 gearbox auto, as it says sealed for life my car is 2004 and its only just covered just over 30k and drives great, like new the first thing i did, is changed all the oils and I can say when i changed the auto box oil, I noticed a big difference in the way it drove much smoother and gear shifts were also much better, thats on my car any way some people say they noticed a difference and some people dont I would recomend it anyway as for the squeak, might just be a dry or worn bush and when you put your boot down, the movement could cause it to squeak cheers Joe -
Hi prices for the compresor new from jaguar are £370 look here https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jaguar/jaguar-s-type/cooling-heating your lucky my S-type, there £485 I guess a garage would charge you a couple of hour labour and a gas recharge charge you could get a second hand one and save a fortune, theres loads on ebay and most come with a guarentee, so would make it cost effective look here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-S-TYPE-2-7-04-AC-X-AIR-CON-CONDITIONING-PUMP-COMPRESSOR-YR8H-19D629-AB-/301750299205?hash=item4641b82a45:g:xIUAAOxyVLNSshGl http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-S-TYPE-R-1999-2008-2-7-D-AIR-CON-COMPRESSOR-PUMP-/262362657662?fits=Car+Make%3AJaguar|Model%3AS-Type&hash=item3d1608737e:g:PCYAAOSwQjNW~UUp http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-S-TYPE-2-7-tdv6-AIRCON-COMPRESSOR-PUMP-YR8H19D629AB-/111967478765?fits=Car+Make%3AJaguar|Model%3AS-Type&hash=item1a11c823ed:g:b8AAAOSwbdpWbFQJ cheers Joe

Hi Neville I think the diff on the xf is similar to the diff on the S-type R That says sealed for life that has oil spec M2C192A 75W90 theres just over a litre in there oil cost me about £25 for good quality castrol oil only problem is there is no drain plug, I assume the "sealed for life" nonsense I used a oil extraction pump and sucked it out of the fill/level plug, only took an hour all in to do the job, start to finish so should not cost you much at a garage, would only take 30 mins to replace with the use of a ramp thanks Joe

Hi All found a site with some really good S-type info Thanks Joe http://www.jagrepair.com/S-TypeTSB.htm

Hi It might be a intermittant fault, which when clears, the fault code also does I'd of thought if there going to be a fault, its going to be on the EPB motor unit unless its a bad connection, but basically its a motor thats going be driven to a certain torque and position its going to be either the encoder positioner or internal connections/soldered joints inside when you think how many operations this gets, the motor inside going to get lots motor brush dust unfortunately its the most expensive part
-
hi so where do you get a fault message cheers joe
-
-
hi Paul what fault code do you get on sdd cheers
-
Hi Richard just had a quick look at the wiring, the wiring goes from the wiper motor to the fuse box, so it should be easy to find I'd check relay 15 and 16 first and then fuses I'd also check that the wiper motor connector has a good earth try a local auto electrician, they should be able to fix it cheers Joe

Hi If there adamesh back boxes there stainless steel there's no plating on them, just polished stainless I'd only use the wire wool/scotch brite on the inside black dirty part then something like autosol polish on the shiny outside of the tail pipe cheers Joe

Hi andy There quite straight forward to fit, most of them plug in the cigerette socket, better ones you can hardwire in basically you mount front and rear cameras and then run the wires around the screen, tuck it in the trim, down the dash then under the door step plastic trims to the rear cam the same, up the side of the seat, around the screen to rear cam most have a rechargeable battery built in, so when you switch ignotion on cameras come on, when ignition goes off they just shutoff in there own time under there own battery I added a link at the bottom, it same sort of money as the one your looking at, but has front collision warning built in, for when you get to close to the car in front, it has lane depature warning, for when you drifting out of lane on motorways and also has all speed camera warnings built in, these can be switch off as well if you looking at that on have a look at this one as well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THINKWARE-F750-Complete-Kit-Front-Rear-Car-Charger-Hard-Wire-32GB-64GB-/301799655597?hash=item4644a948ad:g:uHkAAOSwuAVWy0QZ cheers Joe

Hi Simon did you fit the pads your self I've known that sometimes if you fit new pads to worn discs, heavy initial braking can cause the lining to come off the pad plate if you get discs with high ridges or raised ridges at the outer and inner edges of the disc, if heavy braking is used when there new, you have a gap in the middle of the pad when you brake, it squashes the pad to meet the disc and will flex the pad enough sometimes to break the lining off the pad I'd replace pads, discs and even the brake cables, I'm sure you can replace discs, pads and cables for about £150 from british car parts, which is quite cheap for a modern car here https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jaguar/jaguar-s-type , I've used them and quality is good cables when they get old, can stick at randoms times, they might only stick once in ten times, but that once will destroy the pads and maybe discs and calipers, also when they wear, they get water in them and on frosty morning, I've seen these cable stick, because of water frozen in them cheers joe
