  1. Hi Paul I use my phone, use the app "tunein" there's 1000's of digital stations through your phone Its the best i've seen, its uses my data, but its not a lot and i get unlimited anyway send it to the stereo with my RII Geartist GB01 bluetooth fm transmitter and the sound quality is the best ive seen so far cheers Joe
  2. Hi its down to the garage i think, if they have the proper hardware and software is should be straight forward is it a known jaguar specialist cheers Joe
  3. HI No Problems, if i find any treasure will let you know cheers Joe
  4. Hi Any body else going tommorrow cheers Joe
  5. Hi Mike there easy to change, you just knock it straight through and out the back and then push the new one in from the back, you have to tap it in a bit, then tighten it as normal there like a knurled bit on the bolt that grips inside the hub, so it does'nt spin cheers joe
  6. Hi Paul Have a look here JaguarVoice.pdf cheers joe
  7. Hi I'm not sure now, let me get my pc running and will look at the manual cheers joe
  8. Hi Paul I have a manual with this all in but my computer has gone down and im on my laptop at the moment I think it uses voice training A and B to store voice tags with the voice it recognises stored in A or B and then stores the tags in that persons trained voice Have you run voice training yet you can delete all voice tags by saying " VOICE DELETE MEMORY A" OR " VOICE DELETE MEMORY B" or " VOICE DELETE DIRECTORY" as soon as i got my pc to boot i send you the manual cheers Joe
  9. Hi Paul these do roof linings but you would have to fit it yourself or get a local garage to do it http://www.jagheadlinings.com/en/9-jaguar-xj8-xjr-x308-v8 cheers Joe
  10. hi put some pics up it sound like the hose clamps if you remove the clamps and then tip a bit of hot water on hose/connection out of a kettle then the rubber soften's up and should come off easy using a twisting and pulling action cheers Joe
  11. Hi I would say the S-type R has a much better power steering setup as the front wheels/tyres on the S-type R are huge, so power steering will be more powerfull you could check a few things, tyre pressure's are corrects, this can make a big difference, certain tyre's will make a noticeable difference and also get someone to turn the steering side to side and look inside the wheel arch towards the top of the strut, it should turn smoothly, if it notchy or the spring jumps/clunk the top strut bearing could be seized, this a common problem on cars that have stood some time cheers Joe
  12. hi usually if you cant get cold air it the heater valve if that valve does not shut properly, then you will never get cold air even with air con on the heater valve is a common problem on the s-types, if you getting hot water though to the heater matrix, then i would say it heater valve because when set to a low temp the heater valve should shut completely there a couple of different types and prices vary to model cheers joe
  13. Hi Peter, sounds good to me as well, see whats deals i can find on service bits but i do like the older classics as well cheers joe
  14. Hi Gavin It looks like you have snapped of the hose fitting on the coolant tank yes it looks like you will need a new or second hand coolant tank I would not try to repair it as like you say there a bit of pressure there and it will only pop off and if it pops off could do some damage like head gaskets if it overheats these cars nowadays are a complete pain, as most items are made of plastic and as it get older, it gets quite brittle, so you have to be carefull when pulling on hoses especially cheers joe
  15. Hi It all depends on how much you want spend, not sure about the jaguar, but most generic one I've seen only displays fault codes for the engine management If that's the case, then the nav touch screen, has one built in, that will bring up fault codes and you can reset them also you can get a mongoose lead and software for about £80 and you can do every thing the dealer can, if your brave enough Ive got a mongoose lead and paid £80 for and the software works on all windows formats, I only use it for faults codes and basic stuff, I recommend leaving the software updating to the dealers as if you get it wrong you can brick various ecu's A good generic code reader is best if your a novice, as you cant do any damage to software, but you want to find one thats will read all the modules on the car be interesting to see what people recommend on here as I've only ever used jaguar mongoose also if you thinking of getting mongoose, you need version 130 - 131 to work with pre 2005 cars using IDS as versions after 131 only work best with after 2005 cars using SDD cheers Joe
  16. HI Any body else going jaguar spares day, next Sunday, 20th March looks good and I bet plenty of bargains have a look here http://www.jaguarsparesdays.co.uk/
  17. HI the cheapest i have been able get a service kit for the 6 speed zf 6HP26 is £197 for that you get filter(sump), 7 litres of zf lifeguard 6, mechatronics sleeve, filter/sump pins and you have to do it yourself its quite easy to change this, but will need good access to the bottom of the car, car has to be lifted for good access and level local jaguar dealer charges £400 for this or i can do it myself and pay £80 to have the software updated and the adaptations reset. youll find most quotes out there that wont use genuine zf parts personally i'd only use genuine zf parts, and for how often it got to be done, £197 for the parts aint bad cheers joe
  18. Hi If just one turbo has failed, I would just replace that turbo the other turbo might have years left in it, its vary rare for both turbo's to fail at the same time, unless it a oil feed problem if your engine is in good condition, just replace the failed turbo buying a second hand engine could be a mine field unless, you know the history of the engine and have heard it running, the engine could have more wear than yours and there nothing to say, that the turbo's wont fail on that engine cheers joe
  19. Hi its just a bit of info really if your thinking of taking one off, then it would have to be put back on for MOT's which means ecu remap so if people are thinking of buying a car and the DPF is missing, it could be quite expensive, MOT time at lot of company's were offering cheap remaps, with DPF removal, this could now backfire on you MOT time its worth checking the DPF is still on when buying a diesel car cheers Joe
  20. Hi All Also with DPF you cant remove them any more as its part of the MOT https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-rules-for-mot-to-test-for-diesel-particulate-filter
  21. HI dont know whether you know, but have a look here https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-rules-for-mot-to-test-for-diesel-particulate-filter
  22. HI think these are a common fail, that bit that has come off is a common problem i think it just called top hose, if you look on british car parts the part has been altered and the new pipe comes with two of the hoses all ready attached you will need your vin number as there two different types theres also new ones on ebay cheers joe
  23. Hi hi Simon, going back to the subject in hand, Derek described the car drove wooly and like a cartoon bus in my opinion the soft, wooly, cartoon bus description told by Derek, would refer to worn dampers I can guarantee if you asked ten mechanics and described Derek's description, they would say dampers every time though worn bushes will throw the tracking out, along with loads of other effects, it wont make the suspension soft and a wooly ride, through its massive travel cheers
  24. Hi Owen and welcome there's plenty of info on here post some pictures up of your cars cheers Joe
