  2. hi the shockers do all the damping, well they should do, but there quite soft on s-type, standard s-types anyway, they were built for comfort, not handling, the adaptive ones, cats are very stiff and you get next to no bounce. if you look at the bushes, most of the bushes only have 10mm of rubber in them, between the inner and outer sleeves, some of the bushes only have about 5mm of rubber in them thats why usually when they wear, they knock if the bushes were completely worn out, if you took all the rubber out of the bushes, you would only have 10mm of play, so the car would only bounce 10mm thats my opinion any way cheers joe

Hi John I'd check for anything after market that has been fitted, stereo's or anything added check the the fuse boxes boot, cabin and engine bay for visable wiring thant's been added or you could put you meter inline an measure the battery drain and start pulling fuses till the drain drops off My car had a drain on it when i had it, it was fitted with a jaguar tracker, but there was no info with the car saying it had one fitted it was in the boot, behind the carpet, left hand side the tracker had a aux battery strapped to it which had gone faulty with age and was causing my battery drain cheers Joe

Hi If you have done the tests and every thing checks ok then it must either be the EPB motor or control module I'd go with the EPB motor but they are not cheap, you either wait till its gets worse or try swapping one shame you dont know someone else with one you could swap the control module, to eliminate that as that would only take a short time to swap cheers joe
  5. hi theres two fuses for rear brake lights one for left, one for right fuse box in the boot, fuse 53 or 57 its all in your handbook, if you have not got one, let me know and i will send you a link to 1

Hi if it were bushes, then you would get knocking/bumping noises if its like a boat and when you press up and down on the front and the car goes up and down a few times before it settles, its shockers if the car drives like a " CARTOON BUS" thats means the shockers are not damping at all, if it were bushes and there were that much play in the bushes, it would make serious knocking, banging and clunking noises I know s-types eat bushes when they are driven with a right lead foot, but they allways knock or bang, even when there only a tiny bit of play in them it might be worth checking your anti roll bar links though, if one has snapped, you will gets lots of body roll cheers joe
  9. Hi Never fitted a tow bar on a s-type but i think i read that you need a special relay/control unit I dont think 7 way bypass works on the s-type I got this from some where dont know iff this helps S-TYPE TOW BAR.pdf what unit have you got cheers joe
  10. hi yes that what it will do, there will be a temp switch and because the cooling/circulation pump has stopped, the temp will creep up, when that is activated, the burner fan will run till it cools and deactivates at a set temp if you dropped the temp setting, a couple of minutes before you stop, then the webasto will have cooled and should not kick in cheers joe

Hi Paul That might be normal, I assume there's a fan in there, when you switch your car off, the heater stops and you get a build up of heat because the the car has stopped, so the fan kicks in on the webasto to cool itself its a bit like your boiler at home, when it knocks off, the pump will kick in again after to cool it self, so it does damage itself I might be wrong, but thats how most burner/boilers work and a webasto is basically the same cheers joe
  12. Hi there is no mute on the s-type I think the battery disconnect should cure it it cures a lot of faults on the s-type and a common problem on the bluetooth module as well cheers joe

Hi that should work then the only thing i can say is it may need the battery disconnecting to reset it all when you disconnect the battery the car searches for new modules and seems to reset them there is a batter reset procedure on here where you can activate the touch screen after a battery reset without a code Battery reset.pdf it might be worth asking Paul "Raistlin" he has a very good knowledge of retro fitting phone and bluetooth, on the s-types cheers Joe
  14. hi your phone module to the bluetooth socket has to be wired like this so pin 1 on phone module goes to pin 3 on bluetooth module pin 26 on phone module goes to pin 2 on bluetooth module pin 2 on phone module goes to pin 8 on bluetooth module pin 3 on phone module goes to pin 9 on bluetooth module pin 6 on phone module goes to pin 1 on bluetooth module pin 10 on phone module goes to pin 7 on bluetooth module pin 22 on phone module goes to pin 6 on bluetooth module pin 20 on phone module goes to pin 5 on bluetooth module with pins 4 and 10 free on the bluetooth module if you look on the plugs there are numbers on them, quite small numbers

Hi Have you tried disconnecting the battery, make sure you have the code for the touch screen check that there is no mute activated on the touch screen or phone if not are you sure all the connections are right in the bluetooth socket think i have a drawing so you can just double check them cheers joe

Hi Derek, I take it you have fitted a phone module with fibre optic links you fitted the bluetooth module and swapped the wires around in the bluetooth module socket to get it working and you have got your phone paired to it if you have your phone paired and receiving incoming calls your phone module is working correct and the fibre optic is correct just out of curiosity whats the part number on the phone module most people fit the later external mic as the sound quality is much better, but it still should work with the voice mic cheers joe

Hi the jaguar ones are about £100 to £150 but its made by ctek so you can get the exact one without the jaguar logo for about £40 here's one on amazon the genuine one come with a 12v aux plug on it and it comes with a 12v aux socket and fuse, which you fit in the boot and wire to the battery the plug, socket and fuse are available from maplin or halfords and hey presto, you have the same charger as the jaguar one for a quarter of the price
  23. hi Ive got the genuine jaguar trickle charger which is made by CTEK, which can be left on as long as you want, mines on charge every time i put in the garage, CTEK chargers are multistage and work really well what trickle charger do you have, a good one can be left on indefinately, a cheap one, only short term as these can boil all the sulphuric acid out and need topping up regular cheers joe
  24. hi you can get the crusifix off ebay and also the cover, there quite cheap on ebay best way i would say to do it is get someone to press the washers with the lights on then if your at the front on the car you can grab the washer jets as they come out clip the crusifix to the washer jets and then clip the cover on let go and it should spring back in, if it dont look right, then you have put the cover on upside down cheers joe
  25. hi sensor is in the bottom of the header tank some new replacement header tanks dont have the hole for the sensor if you feel under the header tank and the sensor/wire/plug is there it might just be a faulty sensor if theres no sensor then the might be a wire and plug floating around, cheers joe
