  1. Hi make sure your battery connections are clean and tight cheers Joe
  2. Hi Paul What speakers did you fit premium or upgraded speaker cheers Joe
  3. Hi If there adamesh back boxes there stainless steel there's no plating on them, just polished stainless I'd only use the wire wool/scotch brite on the inside black dirty part then something like autosol polish on the shiny outside of the tail pipe cheers Joe
  4. Hi andy There quite straight forward to fit, most of them plug in the cigerette socket, better ones you can hardwire in basically you mount front and rear cameras and then run the wires around the screen, tuck it in the trim, down the dash then under the door step plastic trims to the rear cam the same, up the side of the seat, around the screen to rear cam most have a rechargeable battery built in, so when you switch ignotion on cameras come on, when ignition goes off they just shutoff in there own time under there own battery I added a link at the bottom, it same sort of money as the one your looking at, but has front collision warning built in, for when you get to close to the car in front, it has lane depature warning, for when you drifting out of lane on motorways and also has all speed camera warnings built in, these can be switch off as well if you looking at that on have a look at this one as well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THINKWARE-F750-Complete-Kit-Front-Rear-Car-Charger-Hard-Wire-32GB-64GB-/301799655597?hash=item4644a948ad:g:uHkAAOSwuAVWy0QZ cheers Joe
  5. Hi Simon did you fit the pads your self I've known that sometimes if you fit new pads to worn discs, heavy initial braking can cause the lining to come off the pad plate if you get discs with high ridges or raised ridges at the outer and inner edges of the disc, if heavy braking is used when there new, you have a gap in the middle of the pad when you brake, it squashes the pad to meet the disc and will flex the pad enough sometimes to break the lining off the pad I'd replace pads, discs and even the brake cables, I'm sure you can replace discs, pads and cables for about £150 from british car parts, which is quite cheap for a modern car here https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jaguar/jaguar-s-type , I've used them and quality is good cables when they get old, can stick at randoms times, they might only stick once in ten times, but that once will destroy the pads and maybe discs and calipers, also when they wear, they get water in them and on frosty morning, I've seen these cable stick, because of water frozen in them cheers joe
  6. Hi chrome cleaner will work, or a bit of wire wool or even a scotchbrite with wd40 will fetch the black out the adamesh ones from new come with different rubber hangers so the gap between trim and bumper is better try to leave a even gap around the tail trim, as the tail trim does get quite hot and will melt your bumper, if its touching cheers joe
  7. Hi David you need also to check the temp, just in case its the temp sender, You need to check that you fans are kicking in on the radiator what engine is fitted to your car, as some s-types have aux pumps that improve cooling you really need to sort this, as if it overheats fully, blowing all the water out, you can warp the heads and even pop headgaskets if your fans are not working, it might just be that simple as fuses, fault radiator fan switch or a faulty fan if fans are kicking in then it could be something more serious, like thermostat stuck shut, water pump or worse case sennario, head gasket can cause overheating if your not too handy with cars, your local garage should be able to diagnose this quite straight forward switching the air con on usually makes the car heat up quicker or overheat, if you have cooling issues, as the air con condensor is sat infront of the rad, when air con is on the condensor will get hot and when the fans kick in, hot air is blown onto the rad, causing to overheat cheers Joe
  8. Hi I have a pair of the adamesh rear silencers on my S-type R and they sound ggggrrrrrrreat, its much better, now its sounds like a V8 Nice and easy to fit, aswell and much lighter cheers Joe
  9. Hi Paul Yes your right as long as the in and out fibre's are the right way round to the modules the modules can be mounted any place in the loop I altered all mine to get the neatest path and best route in the boot, where the mass of modules are cheers Joe
  10. Hi I bet it a bad batch of disks with soft spots that have worn first you need get a vernier on them and measure them, check the thickness at even distance if there any difference in the sizes, then it disks cheers Joe
  11. Hi Most generic obd reader will read engine fault codes but 99% won't read anything else, only engine fault codes so if you want one that reads everything then its got be one like mongoose lead with software mongoose is a pc based diagnostic system and can do most things dealers can but theres a few versions, best versions is v130, v131 that will do all jaguars, later versions suit later cars and wont cover pre 2005 cars its has two programs in it IDS for pre 2005 cars and SDD for post 2005 cars and just be aware that it needs to be installed on a windows xp professional computer/laptop, it won't work on anything else, some sellers offer software that will run on all windows, windows 7 windows 8, but it uses a windows xp pro emulator and this can be very glitchy , freezes, slow and akward to do normal things screen captures I use it and its the best out there for fault finding as it shows fault codes, reasons and remedys but be aware you can do some serious damage with this, if you try updating modules, if it fails, you can brick modules its good for fault finding though and the only other thing theres very little info out there on how to use it cheers Joe
  12. Hi the jumping into gear sounds like the j gate to gearbox cable has come loose I take it your boot dry, no water in the control units but the only way to tell is to plug in and see what fault codes you have cheers joe
  13. Hi Frank I try not to raise my car from the sills, I allways lift the car where the subframe mounting points are, I also used a 1" thick rubber pad on my trolley jack you can also keep the area your lifting waxoyled up, so it wont corrode in the future its more solid place of lifting the car and doing less damage, the sills is only usually for emergency use, with the jack in the boot, for wheel change only The pad in the picture, protects the seam of the sill, but if used on the s-type, it will crush the plastic sill cover and also the plastic floor cover aswell, not sure on the xf though cheers Joe
  14. Hi Neal its split into two heaters left side and right side, left side should be fuse F30 and relay R17, right side fuse F25 and relay R21, both engine bay fuse box
  15. Hi Peter, Are you going, I'd love to go but I think I'm on call on them dates but will have a look in to going, sounds good cheers Joe
  16. Hi Bill Heater valve, if hot air coming out, that means hot water is passing No point looking at aircon if hot air coming out Heater Valve is a common problem cheers Joe
  17. Hi All Gave my S-type R a full service today, changed all the oils and filters and now its all ready for summer The V8 runs so sweet and it allways puts a big grin on my face, the Adamesh silencers sound great One thing I did find, was how easy it was to change the 8 spark plugs on the V8 was, I did find it strange how there was not a drain plug on the diff, oil has to be sucked out through the level plug The only job I've got left now is the famous Valley pipe under the supercharger, which I will do once the weather warms up soon cheers Joe
  18. HI I main goal is shine, I want the best shine i can get I use some waxes and it does look no better after cheers Joe
  19. Hi Jaguar recomend oil that meets the grade WSS-M2C913-B and usually its 5w30 castrol magnatec A5 grade meets that it will say jaguar ford WSS-M2C913-B have a look on opie oil, theres for the jaguar all say meet WSS-M2C913-B I dont think the one you have used will do any harm short term, but oil are designed to meet engine designs emisions and correct oils keep the engine internals cleaner and protect better due to meeting the engine design specs, like some engines are designed to burn small amounts of oil, to protect rings and bores, the oil that burns is made so that it wont soot the engine or damage cats or sensors cheers Joe
  20. Hi Shane What revs is it shifting at My S-type R, when driven lazy, all ways shifts at 1500 RPM and depending on how much you press the accelerator pedal, effect what rpm it shifts at, but with the "S" pressed it make the shifts at higher rpm, and if you press the pedal all the way, so it hits the limit switch at the bottom, it wont shift till revs top out also if you speedo is not working right or you have fault lights on, it can confuse the shifts as they go off speed, revs and throttle position also get the oil level checked, because if its low, at speed the oil is thrown every where and the oil starvation can make it do strange things cheers Joe
  21. Hi Miles I've got a question What can i use on my wheels, there all ways covered in brake dust, clean them and a few hours later, there covered again is there anything out there that makes the wheels non stick and stay cleaner for more than a day many thanks Joe
  22. Hi if its the zf 6HP26, I think the gearboxes are the same, Torque converter might be different and ecu's will have different software but looking on sng site http://www.sngbarratt.com/CatalogueSections.aspx?m=49 they all have different part numbers so you might want to contact a ZF dealer who could confirm this for sure cheers Joe
  23. Hi Peter I have a mongoose cable and IDS is for pre 2005 and SDD for post 2005 cars And IDS does show faults, possible reasons and remedy's for the fault If your thinks of buying a mongoose cable if your car is pre 2005 then you want versions V130 or V131 later version dont allways support pre 2005 cars and the cause of the dreaded lurch, is usually software issue related to the auto box, latest updates cures this and a local jaguar indy near me charges £80 for the software update and adaptions reset but one thing to remember is that mongoose can do some serious damage if just used for faults codes and clearing them its fine, but if your thinking of updating software as in auto box software and you get it wrong, then you can brick the auto box ecu, or any ecu that you trying to update, cheers Joe
  24. Hi Jon there basically a ford item, so many ford use them, try ebay also you can get them off ebay, ford ones , look exact the same heated, so no more frozen washer jets, nice upgrade cheers joe
  25. Hi CBers its just usually done to help with emissions, on big petrol cars usually I would say "If its not broke, leave it alone" but I don't think it could do any harm, I'd spend it on a service instead basically all they do is pull the fuse for the fuel pump and then connect there kit to the fuel rail and feed in there fuel/additive into the fuel rail at pressure and start the car so your running on the fuel out of a can off there kit basically, so its going be fuel, with additives in, dont know how well it works, but lets say it works and cleans all you ports, injectors, valves and pistons, where does all that crap end up, bouncing around your cylinder, in your expensive lambda sensors or clogging up your cat basically its like redex you put in your fuel, but you pay 20 fold for it I don't know, it could well be fine but ive allways been uneasy from squirting unknown fuels in a known good running engine let us know how you go on, cheers joe
