  4. Hi All, Greetings from Ireland! Long story but over the past 3 years I've struggled with the air suspension on my 2005 XJ Sovereign, standard wheelbase. Firstly a compressor replacement, then a front ride height sensor and 2 front air springs in January 25 because in Ireland here for the roadworthiness test they do a side to side measurement on the shock absorbers to check they are in balance (30% imbalance is the fail level) and last month 2 rear ride height sensors because one was throwing a fault code and the car sitting 1" to 1 1/2" too high. Sensors fitted but still too high and after deflating completely took 8 hours to reflate and is now still too high. Then last Friday a loud bang and we thing the left rear bag has blown out. The front springs were aftermarket (probably Chinese) and admittedly cheap but rode hard when installed. I have been told that aftermarket air springs can cause spurious faults with the air suspension system but I'm not buying OEM Jaguar front ones at horrendous cost. So essentially I've had it with the air suspension and want to fit the coil replacements. I've driven myself distracted by researching on the internet what to replace them with. All of the options seem to be US or Chinese based - are their none in Europe to buy? I know there are numerous posts on this in all forums but a lot of advice stretches back 10 years sometimes and I can't find any recent 'where to buy' recommendations. I don't want a super duper set, just reliable old springs and the ability to switch off the air suspension warnings for the roadworthiness test (any orange light or dashboard warning is a fail condition here in Ireland). It's a 2005 MY. I'd like it to ride nice and comfortable, it's not a corner carver or a track machine, I've Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO 235/50 R18 101V XL tyres all round if that's relevant - it rains a lot here and it rides nice on those. But I have to say I do see the value in a set with adjustable damping/ valving and spring height - if it isn't going to cause the Jaguar to fail inspection as a too-modified car. All advice gratefully received please! Thanks Nick
  5. I have similar problem, maybe not as annoying. I checked all door and window seals, nothing visible so decided to live with it.

  7. I have a 1969 programme for a race meeting at Mallory Park. In the programme there is an advert for Dunlop Tyres showing E TYPE AOK 138B. This vehicle is still on the road and I would like to find the owner to ask if they would like the programme. Can anyone help please?

  9. Hi Everyone. I have searched everywhere to find an answer to my question. How to Remove, and Installation of a Fuel Flap Door Release Cable? I even asked a mechanic and he said it was a nightmare of a job the interior needs to come out remove the wheel etc. Does anyone know how to do this or how it's done? A video would be great. But an idiot's guide would also suffice. Keith.

  18. Hi John, first up you need to understand the variations. You say you are looking for an XK8, which goes by the model designation X-100. Then you indicate you would like a model from around 2010, which would be the X-150 model. The X-100 was built between 1996 and 2005, whereas the X-150 model was built between 2006 and 2014 / 2015. For 2010, you would be looking at a 5.0 litre engined car, available as either a Coupe or Convertible. My preference is the Convertible, but to each their own. There is also the choice, in both models, for the naturally aspirated XK8 / New XK, or the supercharged XKR. The X-100 is a steel bodied car, with specific areas prone to corrosion that you would need to be aware of, whilst the X-150 is an aluminium architecture and body, with minimal corrosion elements, but still needs to be carefully checked. There are quite a number of good You Tube videos on the merits of the X-150 which you could seek out, but the best advice is to go and see as many cars as you can locate to get a "feel" for them. If you are a Jaguar buying novice, then try and take someone with you who knows what they are looking at. The X-150 cars are typically available these days from circa £10k to +£30k and obviously you get what you pay for. There are currently 18 X-150 cars for sale on the JEC Classifieds, the JEC is the largest Jaguar Club in the world. The link below should take you to the list of Classifieds at the JEC site. There's also lots of other information there, but most of it only accessible to the members, but worth the fee in my opinion. jec.org.uk/classifieds/index.php?page=cars-for-sale&category=1608 Simple adage, buy the best you can afford, but keep your eyes open and seek advice if unsure. The JEC can arrange for inspections by local enthusiasts' knowledgeable about the particular model, but again I think that needs you to join the Club. If you find anything of interest meantime, come back here and post a link thta folks can check out on your behalf. Good Luck. N6 JMX
  19. My X type deserves a fluid flush on the gearbox, it's a 2002 pretty sure it's on the same oil it was delivered with. Any Norfolk / Cambridgeshire / Suffolk recommendations?
  20. Good one!

Under the hood lies a robust 2.5 litre petrol engine with a manual transmission, coupled with all-wheel drive for a balanced and confident ride. The vehicle's six-cylinder engine and comprehensive set of features make it a desirable pick for enthusiasts and collectors alike. MOT expired Jan 2025 had new pads and discs needs radiator repair.
  22. Have owned this car for 15 years and this time just not going to make through MOT without money being spent so relunctantly decided to sell as project or spare parts
  23. No problem, don't get me wrong, you can find many of these engines without any issues, but I think more often than not, they are problematic. until 2019 when they finally fixed the issues
  24. Silly me, thanks👍
  25. Hi David, advice on battery replacement is 5 years and it has to be suspect, despite what a battery test might say. A good catch as most folks ignore the advice and end up with dashboard lighting up light Blackpool in September. N6 JMX

  28. Hi Craig, welcome to the Forum. Appreciate that Ardnamurchan is probably a long way from anywhere (I am in Banchory in Aberdeenshire so know the feeling) but there is a Jaguar Gathering - The Scottish Jaguar Enthusiasts' Day - being held at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow on Saturday the 28th of June 2025. Over 100 Jaguars and their owners on the esplanade of the Riverside Museum from all over Scotland and further afield - even have some coming from "down south". There's more information further down the Forum pages under "Events", but you can also send me a PM with your email address and I can provide more information. N6 JMX
