Hi

New member doing the courteous thing and introducing myself.  Recently acquired a 2002 S-Type 4.2 SE in the Midlands.  Was thinking of getting an R-Type, but thought I would see how this goes first and maybe change up next year if it seems right.

Job 1: Get a wifi OBD 2 Scanner - ordered

Looking forward to interacting with you all and grateful for the effort and knowledge of others that will no doubt be very useful for me in the coming months.

Hello Mark and a big welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. You will find the members very helpful and happy to assist you should the need arise. There appears to be many from the West Midlands area.

Hi Mark and welcome to the club.

The car you have when built was the fastest road car Jaguar had produced.  I will look out for you knocking around, as there are not many 4.2 models around,

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks guys.

Peter is it ok if I pm you to ask about local independent recommended service outfits?

Mark, Peter is the type of chap that would bend over backwards to assist you and would be the first to give you such advice. I cannot imagine him refusing such a request

I use a mobile mechanic, Mark but he only works round Erdington and Sutton Coldfield. But I will ask him when I next see him

However, there is another mobile mechanic based in Aldridge who I have used for a terraclean service, Just Google James Price, Mobile Technician/mechanic.

Well that's great because I'm in Sutton Coldfield.  Didn't know too much about Terraclean either and having just looked it up it sounds like something I should put higher up my to do list.

Thanks Peter.

Hi Mark,

I am seeing my mobile mechanic on Thursday, and will tell him about your interest.

Regards, Peter.

Hi Simon,

The terraclean service is something every modern car owner should think about, particularly with the diesel engine.

I first saw the product on Wheeler Dealers, and basically is is a process that cleans out the fuel system  --  Google it and you will see the video.

I had it done last year and was pleased with how much better the performance and the mpg was.  In the last 6 months I have averaged about 40 mpg, with mostly shortish runs, and on one long run from Birmingham to Sheffield with a mix of motorway at 50 mph for road repairs I got 53 mpg.

It cost me £114 and I used a mobile Terraclean operator - James Price - who did it on the drive.

Regards,

Peter.

PS.  There are discussions about a West Midlands Meet for JOC members being planned.  It would be nice if it happened!

Wow, I think I will have a look at this. My car has just turned 5 so might be worth doing it.

Yeah a midlands meet would be great.
