No, not what you think :)

Neither the screenwasher pump nor the headlamp washer pump run on my car.

I'm not keen on coincidences so was wondering whether there is anything common to both?

Hi Paul

Does the same switch operate both? I don't have Headlamp wash so not sure if they are operated separately

Steve

They are two apparently different circuits Steve, I find it difficult to  believe that they both failed at the same time.

fair enough Paul, just wondered whether it was one switch that may have failed

Hi Paul

headlight washer pump can fail, its common on the s-type and new ones are available on ebay

they are separate circuits but both work off the wiper washer switch, only the headlights have to be on for the headlight washers and I think they only wash the headlights every sixth operation

could be the headlight washer failed a while ago and was never noticed and now they have both failed

maybe worth checking all the connection on the washer bottle, as it can get quite damp down there in the wet

cheers

The Peugeot I had once, washed the lamps and the windshield at the same time. But only if the light was turned on, ie, not auto. I could go out and check if the same applies here, but I'm too comfy right now. :whistling1: I would suspect and check hose, fuse, connector or pump. In that order. The next step would be to try and figure out what happens, or not, as the case may be, between switch and front electronic module.

I feel ashamed to say that I THOUGHT it had sufficient water but that was not the case. Filling the bottle got everything working as it should :)

Hi Paul,

This perhaps does not apply to you but when presented with such events I claim the defence of advancing years. Too often I will go out to do one thing and come back having done something else! (Coo, that sounds familiar... maybe I've said it before but hopefully not here).

Glad to hear the Jags ok , good luck and stay healthy.

Now what else was I going to say?????????????.........
