  1. I just suggested 3K less than the sticker price, expecting a haggle in a Wheeler Dealers kind of way, but after a bit of huffing and puffing, its was a deal. Wished I’d gone a bit lower, but I love the car anyway. J
  2. Hi Steven, I know exactly what you’re talking about! I hadn’t owed a car between 1983 and 2018 - loads of (some very nice) company cars, driving roughly 40K miles a year, but I always wanted an XF (above my pay grade!!!), it had to be a red (claret) one and a good spec. So when I retired, I found a 2011 XF-S Portfolio, in claret, listed at £16K, biggish mileage, but looking perfect (although the wheels needed, and still need, a refurb). Actually bought it for £13K (nothing to trade in) and have enjoyed every single second with it - I had high expectations after all those years, but they were well and truly exceeded. I can’t pretend it had all been plain sailing, there have been costs along the way, but the bank isn’t broken yet. It now needs a new rear coelom and there’ a leak somewhere in the aircon which hasn’t had a noticeable effect. Also needs a second set of rear wishbone bushes. Worst hit was a crack cam cover at about £13K Joy is still undiminished though! Enjoy your XF!!!
  3. Hi Paul, I have a 2011 XF-S (3.0l) Local short trips, I get high 20s to low 30s. Long drives on motorways, I often see high 40s to low 50s. Cruise control seems to be a massive help. Cheers, Jon
  4. Hi Paul, I retired a couple of years ago after many, many, many... years of company cars. They ranged from a Subaru Imprezza to a Mercedes A220 with a couple of Renault Lagunas, a Lexus IS and a Citroen DS5 in between. So... My dream car to actually own was always an XF. It had to have a good spec (3.0 S Portfolio) and it had to be metallic red (Claret). And here I am now with the sexiest car in the street! With 20" wheels Upsides... goes like stink handles like my imprezza Sound system (B&W) is TDF Ride is smooth Ride can be hardened (Dynamic mode, "TRAC DSC") It's just simply a hoot! Downsides... A bit thirsty locally (27mpg), but up to 40mpg on a long run Being 9 yrs old, it has had a few issues, expensive to get fixed, worst was inlet manifold cracked (£1300) Chews through tyres (but I do have a heavy right foot (!!!) Overall... I've got the car I always wanted! But there is a bit of road noise from the 255/35x20 Pirellis. Normally cancelled out by the B&W sound system. Cheers, Jon
  5. Hi Keith, My XF, somewhat older than yours, doesn’t use AdBlue, so I can’t help with your specific problem. But I also live in West Sussex, and would suggest a call to Arun Ltd., in Pulborough. They are and independent Jaguar specialist who also work with Aston Martin and Maserati cars. Mine is going there for a service next Friday. I’m sure it would be worth you having a chat with theirs service manager, Andrew, to see what he can suggest. Good luck! Jon
  6. I have the same problem, but only under gentle braking. Had new discs all round about a year ago, was fine for a while, but now have a mild judder. Just passed the MoT. so can't be too serious, just annoying. Would be nice to get rid of it, but not a big worry (unless someone has an annoying problem lurking to tell me about!) Cheers, Jon
  7. Hi Ian, This may not be what you're looking for, but here goes... I've had the "double beep" issue a few times... Twice when the keyfob battery needed changing A few when the key (in my pocket) was 'hiding' behind something else metallic (normally the battery of my vape). Both (especially the second) were easily resolved. If they don't apply in your case - sorry, but thought I'd chip in (although I now live in Sussex, we Essex peeps need to stick together!). Cheers, Jon
  8. Hi Victor, Thanks for that, will have a look! Cheers Jon
  9. Hi All, My XF's interior lights seem to have a mind of their own... For the first few minutes after starting out, they light up for a few seconds, then off & on again repeatedly. It maybe temperature related (never seems to happen after dark or when it's cooler outside), but not sure. Obviously not a big problem really, but still annoying! Any ideas anyone? Cheers, Jon
  10. Maybe just for 'ambient lighting'?
  11. Hi Paul, Absolutely! Cheers, Jon
  12. Hi Robert, It passed! Good luck with your issues!
  13. Hi Paul, I shared the same dream - just took me a bit longer to get there! (I'm now 64). After decades of company cars, I eventually threw in the towel a couple of years ago, returned the Mercedes and bought my first car in 37 years, a 2011 XF-S Portfolio. It has cost me a bit - tyres (255/35x20 Pirellis don't come cheap! and some fixes along the way, but none of that dims the silly grin when I drive it! Enjoy yours! Cheers, Jon
  14. By the way, I see you're in Surrey (I'm in West Sussex). If it's not too much of a trek, I'd recommend Arun Jaguar in Pulborough, have a chat with Andrew (service manager), very helpful! https://www.arunltd.com/ Cheers, Jon
  15. Hi Paul, There seems to be a rash of similar issues to yours (and mine!) over the last few days. My car is a 2011 XF-S Portfolio. Initial issue was the red restricted performance, and a gentle hissing sound when (trying to) accelerate. First attempt at a cure was to replace the turbo transfer valve, which was seized, obviously needed fixing, but that didn't cure the main problem. Eventual fix was to replace the inlet manifold cover and associated bits - quite expensive at about £1300, but totally transformed the car! That was also finished off with a DPF regen (included in the £1300!). Car now runs sweet as a nut. Now have an MOT booked for today (fingers crossed!). Best of luck - let us know how it goes! Cheers, Jon
  16. Hi Jim, Try here: https://www.latestsatnav.co.uk/jaguar-7-c.asp Worked perfectly in my '11 XF-S, costs about £30 Cheers, Jon
  17. Hi Marcus, I have a 2011 XF-S, I assume your -R is similar in terms of SatNav (disc drive in the left of the boot). Assuming it has the drive, you can get updated discs from here... Latest Sat Nav - 2019-20 Sat Nav Disc Update & Navigation Maps url I've bought from them several times, always a great service. Cheers, Jon
  18. Sorry, forgot to mention... Crossover valve took a couple of hours or so, Manifold Induction kit took about a day & a half. J
  19. Hi Robert Replacing the crossover valve was £247.60, incl. parts & labour. The Manifold Induction kit was £1331.83, parts & labour (ouch!). But, hey-ho, it's a lovely drive! Cheers, Jon
