  1. Roisin What do you actually mean by a "dead engine". Is it that the engine will not start or is it that the engine has seized solid. A few details may help in receiving any advice or opinions. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  2. Marie You are very welcomed to the club. Best Wishes, John
  3. Julie Is someone attempting to have a laugh. £1400 ....I feel I would want two cars done for that money. Perhaps their finish is twice as good. ???????????????????????? Best Wishes, John
  4. Tony I am 72 years young and have similar thoughts to you. I was a keen and avid Japanese fan with the likes of Nissan 200 sx (S12, S13, S14, Primera eGT and Skylines including a R34 GTR I upgraded to 430 BHP. Now have my S-Type, which I absolutely adore, even though it does take some regular repairs, resets etc, to keep it running. It is a gorgeous car, of 16 years of age and has 65,000 mls from new. Needs battery (12 months old only) constantly being put on my CTEK charger/conditioner as with most S-Types and many other Jaguar models, they suffer badly from low battery charge due to the over zealous discharge when not in constant use. I would not be without the older style and leisure of an S-Type Jaguar these days. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  5. Julie I keep my car outside like you. It is washed regularly using a SnowFoam, then a Good Shampoo and then on a monthly basis I use a Hydrophobic water solution to spray the car, before finally drying and buffing . It keeps very well, dirt does not stick and washes away easily . Any rain or elements in the air form large bubbles and run off the car. I do also always use a pressure washer, nothing fancy, just a cheap Karcher model. Best Wishes, John
  6. Many thanks. Regards, John
  7. What you really need, even buying a new battery, is a CTEK charger/conditioner . The MS 7 and MS 10 models also act as a Supply, (to start the car), as well as a Recon setting. Jaguars being Jaguars (Bless Them) are very dependent on fully charged batteries otherwise all sorts of silly things happen. I use an MS 7.0 on my S-Type (which are very prone to battery discharge when they are not running). I put mine on the car at least once a week and as a minimum overnight, it keeps the battery in A1 charge and condition. Well worth the investment. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  8. Just be grateful (because it is a Jaguar) ????????? Love them dearly. Best Wishes, John
  9. Thank you. I understand that but I do actually want the badges I have ordered and paid for. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  10. Malcolm Probably the best is a CTEK MS7.0 Charger and Conditioner. Used by many on this Forum. I have one personally for use on my S-Type, which can prove to be heavy on battery discharge when not in use. It seems many Jaguars suffer with this same problem and lack of battery power leads to many problems. I put mine on the car at least once per week and it keeps the battery in great condition. I have purchased the CTEK item that is installed in the boot and you then just plug the charger into it. Well worthwhile investment as it then does not need any faffing around with jump; leads etc. Incidentally , if you buy the MS 7 or MS 10 they also can act as a supply for jump starting. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  11. Not certain I would want the car on axle stands whilst I had it running and changing gears to circulate the oil in the gear box. Good Luck. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  12. Joe You may remember that I purchased a IDS/SDD and computer for it to run on. I have never got to grips with how to use the darned thing. Mind you, I am from the "Age of the Dinosaur." I am current using a Foseal Reader which has always worked well because I only had to reference the previous Catalytic Converter problems I had . I am now about to buy an iCarsoft PRO, which seems to have good reviews and you also recommended it to me once before. That hopefully will identify/diagnose the ABS warning and point me in the right direction. Thanks once again for your usual precise and helpful advice. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  13. I need a couple of self adhesive badges for the windscreen if they are available. Think they need to be on cars that will be attending Simply Jaguar at Beaulieu . Please update me if they are available or what is available for the windscreen to identify the club. Many thanks and Regards, John
  14. I definitely concur with that. My S-Type keeps coming up with Yellow Engine Management lights and when read through OBD2 has no Codes recorded. If I stop the engine and re-start, the yellow lights are still there. Then drive away for 100 yds or so and the lights disappear until the next showing and we do it all over again. That is when her name changes, as long as my grand daughter is not in the car !!!!!!!!!!!! Best Wishes, John
  15. Joe Did as you suggested and plugged into the OBD2, before stopping the engine, to see if there were any codes registering. Absolutely still no Codes/Errors found. It as usual, after leaving the car stand for a while and restarting, still had the Yellow Warning lights and messages on the dashboard, AND again disappeared once I drove approximately 100 - 150 yards. Very confused, any other ideas? Best Wishes and Regards, John
