Cleaning XF's internal Rear Windscreen
Old Peter replied to XF Coventry Cat's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
Hi Roy, and welcome to the club. There is a similar problem with the S Type. The car's aerodynamic style, which is beautiful, lends itself to issues like that. However, problems are there to be solved, and you will be pleased to know that there is a window cleaner on the market, which consists of a long handled microfibre pad on a swivel head. Believe it of not, I bought one from either the 99p shop or Poundland which does the job admirably. Worth the money! Regards, Peter. -
Hi Mark, and welcome to the club. The temperature gauge on my s type 2.7 D slowly goes to halfway and then stays there, as it did on my X Type 2.5 petrol. Are there any warning lights coming up? It could be a faulty sensor, but it might be worth waiting for comments from a few x type diesel owners. Regards, Peter.

Is this some magic via bluetooth? Worth trying? Peter.

Welcome to the club, Mark. Yes, you can buy them off the shelf -- just google around. Enjoy the s type --- great car. Regards, Peter.

** X-Type stutter/jittering PLEASE HELP! **
Old Peter replied to X_Type_South_Africa's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
Hi Steve and welcome to the Club. I have read and mused on your post. You appear to have done a few things to solve the problem and I am wondering if it is a fuel problem that has not come to light. I come from the carburettor era and if the car had one I would have taken it off and cleaned it. So have you checked the fuel injectors? Other than that, juggle the coils around, as you suggested. Regards, Peter. -
Welcome to the Club, Peter. That does surprise me. I suppose most car manufacturers like to move with the times, while most drivers hark back a bit to the old technology. Let us know how your XE goes. Regards, Peter.

Wheel arch fix and alloy wheels refurbish. Any suggestions?
Old Peter replied to TamaStype's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Quite right, Tamas. When I buy a car I always go to a main dealers. I had company cars for 29 years so I have not had many second hand ones. But what I do is first make sure there is a.up to date MOT, and also a warranty. I then draw up a list of foibles I have found and take it back to the dealer for a health check, as it were. Having had company cars, the local main dealers all know me well! Peter. -
Welcome to the club, Tony. I get the same feeling when I press the "s" button and let the twin turbos come in. Quick cars! Regards, Peter.

Wheel arch fix and alloy wheels refurbish. Any suggestions?
Old Peter replied to TamaStype's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Hi Tamas, Either some wet and dry and a lot of elbow grease, or a good body shop is needed. It could be worth having a look at the Jaguar Owners Lounge Forum on the Club side and go through the list of recommended independent garages and you may find one close to you. Regards, Peter. -
Looks good, Tamas. Enjoy the experience. Peter

Hi Dave, Maybe Bertieboy [Mark] has one. Regards, Peter.

Leaking ATF or is it steering fluid... Could be just a seal?
Old Peter replied to TamaStype's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Welcome to the club, Tamas. Getting under cars for me is now a no no, but Andy is pointing you in the right direction. The s type is a great car to drive, and a real classic design. When the s type 4.0 litre was built it became the fastest production road car Jaguar had ever built. Regards, Peter. P.S. There is a Jaguar Owners Club meet at the Heritage car museum in Gaydon on September the 19th. Not that far away from Nottinghamshire. -
Hi Jim and welcome to the club. I do knot know the SatNav in the xf, but, just guessing, I would suggest you look at the possibility of checking out the sound setting on the opening screen of the touchscreen. If it is anything like the S Type , you can set the satnav sound settings there. Regards, Peter

Welcome to the Club, Michael. Sharing experiences is a big contribution to the Club. Keep posting and enjoy the club. Regards, Peter.

Hi Chris, I have a similar car to Andy, and what he has said is quite correct. If you don't play by the book and give the 2.7 litre Diesel a good run once a month or so you might get a few DPF problems. The 2.7 diesel fitted to the S Type and the early XF as well as the XJ at the same year was only changed to the new 3.0 litre diesel to meet Euro 5 emissions requirement. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Steve. Stan has given you some good advice [as always]. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Noel. Good first post! There is a Jaguar Owners Club meet at the Heritage Motor Museum [Gaydon] on the 19th September. There are over 25 members attending mostly from the Midlands. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Dan. You will enjoy the x type, once described as "nippy" by a reviewer. I hope you enjoy the club, too. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paul, I think AA could be right. The same thing happened to me on a Rover 2.5 Petrol. Very intermittent but every time it did it was when the engine had just warmed up. Peter.

Hi William and welcome to the club. Not having an X Type I can't give you and answer, but there are several owners of X Types who can. At a guess, Bertieboy [Mark] will not only know where they are, but will also tell you how to replace them. Regards, Peter.

I had never had headlamp washers until I had my first Jaguar. Even my Rover Sterling with all the bells and whistles did not have them, and I nearly came to grief because of dirty headlamps. I had not been very far off the M1, using the A5 when I pulled into a layby to clean the headlanps, and nearly hit some armco and definitely hit a bad pothole which I could not see. Two new tyres later I looked up how to get washers fitted! I changed the car instead. Peter.

Thanks Robin. We haven't got any locally, and breakeryard did not come up with any. Amazon have some up with a pair for £14.99, so I have settled for them Peter.

Sat-nav update
Old Peter replied to Ralphiespal's topic in Jaguar Audio / Video / Electronics / Security Systems
Welcome to the Club, Scott. My update for the S Type was the last one they made for the s type, so in 10 years time I will be using a 12 year old map. But on the other hand I will be well chuffed if I am! Regards, Peter. -
I bought a full set of Genuine Jaguar Mud Flaps [aka Splash Guards] two years ago for £50. Unfortunately the front offside one has either fallen off or been borrowed. Has anyone got one they don't want? Regards, Peter.
