  1. hi the dpf block up because the dpf does not get hot enough to burn off the soot inside if you drive and keep the revs very low, you will always have issues speed is irrelevant, its revs it needs, so when you on the motorway, keep it in a lower gear so the revs are higher than normal, this will heat up the dpf and allow it to burn off the soot if its been revved and still having issues, there maybe other problems like split hoses that are stopping it from regening, but the garage should find this cheers Joe
  2. hi if you pm me your reg I might be able find out from Jaguar IDS/SDD software cheers Joe
  3. hi get it on ebay, the engine on the diesel sell well for landrovers more s-type diesels are broken for engines for landrovers, than any other issues they had cheers Joe
  4. hi if its been taken out odds most of the usual stuff has been tried first thing I'd check is head gaskets, either by compression test or sniff test, sniff test is the easiest option, done by most garages head gaskets are common on these once the heads gaskets are confirmed ok, would check water pump and radiator cheers Joe
  5. Hi Its not the speed, its the revs you need, the DPF is like a filter, thats blocks up and the only way to clear it is heat, higher than normal revs get the dpf hotter and allow to burn the soot off at 70mph in my S-type R in sixth gear would barely be doing just over a 1000rpm select a lower gear and keep the revs up a bit more, for 15 mins or so just to get the dpf up to temp cheers Joe
  6. Hi Its best not to think about oils yourself Better of sticking to what the car manufacturer recommends, as they have spent thousands, doing the research themselves or paying someone to do the research for them if you guessing what oil to use or just use what "BOB" recommends and it destroys your engine, the cost to fix it ill be down to yourself So I'd stick to what the Jaguar manufacturer recommends and you cant go wrong Just buy the best you can afford of the manufacturer recommended grade, spec and change at the recommended intervals cheers Joe
  7. hi both are completely opposite driving styles dpf regen needs higher revs to get the dpf hot to burn off all the soot economy need low revs to get the best miles per gallon so you can't win, if you want mpg then your blocking up the dpf, if you want to regen or clear the dpf the mpg's go out the window give the car to a young lad and youll never get issues with dpf and there also not bothered about mpg's drive it like Miss Daisy and your always going to have issues with dpf cheers Joe
  8. hi I would of not connected the battery back up till it was dry I would on put in a garage and covered it in polythene and put a desiccant dehumidifier under there with it, would pull all the moisture out with a day easy hope you get it fixed, but all those modules are expensive and most need programing to the car, might not be cost effective to repair from a insurers point of view cheers Joe

  14. hi when you get similar issues its usually the first thing thats changed, worth doing as its not expensive to do is it petrol or diesel
  15. hi usually with diesels when they get hard to start its glow plugs they fail and its not a issue till winter comes and it gets colder worth getting the glow plugs checked, may have a couple gone cheers Joe
  16. hi if its not gearbox, them first best option would be to get it plugged in and see if there are any fault codes petrol cars are usually straight forward faults, diesel can be a bit more complicated cheers Joe
  17. hi is it using water, usually water coolants issues and bubbling can be head gasket if its air locks, then you get a cold heater, does the radiator get hot at both sides Id get a sniff test done to check head gaskets or even a compression test cheers Joe
  18. hi as above, if its a auto, maybe low fluid, get the oil levels checked is it auto or manual, does it get better when its hot cheers Joe
  19. Hi Try this The procedure to program the remote fob or fobs is very simple and should take less than one minute. No tools are required. All remote fobs available must be present when the car is in programming mode, so that they can be programmed at the same time as the new fob. Any fobs that have previously been programmed to the car will need reprogramming at a later date if they are not available when carrying out the following procedure. 1. Enter the car and sit in the Drivers seat. 2. Place the key in the ignition. 3. Hold the headlight flasher arm back – the blue “high beam” light will come on the dashboard and the headlights will come on. 4. Keep holding the headlight flasher back and turn the ignition key to position 1. 5. Release the flasher, and then flash the headlights FOUR TIMES. You will hear a “Beep” AND/OR see a small red light illuminate briefly on the Gear Selector on the fourth flash of the headlight – this is to confirm that the car has entered programming mode. 6. Program each transmitter (up to FIVE fobs can be programmed) by pressing any button on the fob. You will hear a “Beep” AND/OR see the red light on the Gear Selector with each press of a button. 7. The car must “Beep” or red light flash five times to complete programming. Therefore, if you are only programming one transmitter you should operate the transmitter 5 times. If you are programming two transmitters you will operate one transmitter twice, and three times on the other. 8. Wait for the car to exit programming – this will be indicated by a final “Beep” AND/OR the red light on the Gear Selector. 9. The remotes are now ready to use.
