  1. Oh for the days when ladies were retiring, or shy, or ladies! Little chance of that in Northamptonshire I'm afraid Cue the feminist onslaught
  2. Or you could come over to the dark side https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201803284999557?make=JAGUAR&sort=year-desc&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&price-to=5500&advertising-location=at_cars&radius=1500&postcode=nn108jb&maximum-mileage=50000&page=1
  3. Hi Peter, I know the clue is in your Nom de plume but "trafficator"!!!!, you're really starting to show your age now my friend! Mike
  4. So if I've got this right you only drive the Audi at night? Afraid of being seen in public perchance???
  5. Thanks Gaz, Ordered them yesterday Cheers, Mike
  6. Had the Brembo discs and pads fitted and all is back to normal, no more wheel shake, nice and progressive so all is well in the world (except I'm now skint this month!) Cheers, Mike
  7. My local garage in Wellingborough have just quoted me £265.00 for front end Brembo discs and pads including fitting, which didn't seem too bad. Cheers, Mike
  8. Hi Gary, I really like the small S badges, not sure on the foot rest. Where did you get the small ones from? Cheers, Mike
  9. To bring this down to the level of the proletariat (me) What a complete and utter numpty!
  10. Hi Steve, Yes a cup full of v hot water freed it off although it was still a bit stiff and gritty feeling so dosed it liberally with WD and now it feels much better. Will have to wait until the weather improves before I know if all is well, trying very hard not to wash the screen while the lights are on at the moment! Cheers, Mike
  11. Hi guys and girls, Last night the nearside head lamp washer stuck in the "out" position. I've tried to push it back by hand and there does seem to be a little play but it won't retract. Obviously I don't want to force it especially with it being so cold. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike
  12. XF defrost, 1 big fat button under the satnav turns on the blower, front & rear heated screens. Having changed from the S-type to the XF last year I would not go back and I soon got used to the cruise control. To my knowledge you can't set the front sensors to "on" permanently.
  13. No, but if it isn't properly in park that will stop it. No guarantees Mark but it's worth a try Mike
  14. Hi Mark You can move the gear selector even in the lowered position, try rotating it out of park and back into it if you can. Cheers, Mike
  15. Hi, You just twist the whole bulb about 10 or 15° anti clockwise and it comes out, the bit of plastic unclips at the joint and then unwraps from around the bulb, don't lose it you'll need to put it on the new one, there's a tab on the plastic collar which lines up with a cut-out on the bulb and then you just reverse the process to put it back in. Cheers, Mike
  16. I have seen that Spires are advertising a comfort suspension package for the XF. Has anyone had it fitted and how well did it work? I have a 3 litre S diesel with the 20" wheels and miss the ride quality of my old V8 S-type Mike
  17. Hi Darrell, I take your point but the torque converter etc is before the gear train and so spins at engine speed, just a thought :-) Mike
  18. Sounds like it might be transmission related rater than engine, you could get it checked by Midland transmissions in Kettering if you didn't want to chance the main dealers?
  19. Hi David, The front discs were replaced at about 50000 miles, despite Jaguars protestations to the contrary ZF say the gearbox should be serviced at 62000 miles (100000 km) other than that and servicing I haven't needed anything done. Mike
  20. Hi David, I've only had the XF-S diesel Portfolio but I have to say it's delightful, easily as fast as my previous 4.2 V8 S-type, fantastic handling for a big car , quiet, comfortable with a lovely interior. Downside, probably not as economical as you'd expect for a diesel, I average about 37 mpg on a 40 mile round trip to work and a fairly easy drive. Hope that helps, Mike
  21. I use them fairly regularly, generally when I'm having "fun", mine is a diesel so I mostly try to keep the revs somewhere between 2 and 4 thousand. Also handy if you want to pop it down a couple of gears going in to a bend.
  22. Possibly, but you'd also have to check the offset is the same and if yours is the "S" model you need space for the larger 355mm front discs and calipers
  23. Have you asked the missus to stop humming??? It probably won't work but it's worth a try
