  1. Hi Ian, The speed your gearbox changes up is dependent on a few variables, load, throttle setting, which engine you have etc but for reference I have the 4.2 V8 with the same 6 speed ZF you have and it generally changes up somewhere between 1700 and 2000 revs. ZF recommend a service including oil and filter (which I think is part of the sump) at 100,000 km
  2. I fitted the "Saxo HID kit" about 2 years ago, I went for one of the warmer colours (5200K I think) as they don't have the blue tint, they give a nice white light. My car was already fitted with the headlamp washers and it's passed two MOTs without a comment. Personally I would recommend them but would suggest paying a bit extra to get decent quality ones.
  3. "Turn left soon" arrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh drives me insane, it's ok out here in the boondocks but when I visit my family in London it's an open invitation to rear end a No 53 bus
  4. From experience, cooling system seems prone to rot and the aircon/climate control can develop some expensive failures, specifically the three way valve at the front can fail and can spike the controller.
  5. I looked into it a bit, the only ones I found were KW, high quality units but the price put me off, well over £1500 plus fitting.
  6. 'fraid not, they changed the sump and another cover(switchgear?) when they did the 60000 mile service on the gearbox at Midland Auto Transmissions in Kettering. £408.00 inc VAT
  7. I also have the SE, when I first bought I was disappointed with the handling until I had a full laser alignment done. As I remember it the following were set wrong: Front tracking Front camber on one side Front Castor on both sides (in opposite directions) Rear Camber on one side Thrust line Needless to say when it came back it was transformed and will now go round my favourite bend faster than any of the cars I've ever owned. Since I've lived round here: 405 Mi16 Hyundai coupe F2 EVO Seat Leon Fr with Eibach rising rate springs and Koni FSD shocks. Company car Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-line
  8. Hi Steve You might want to look at Paramount performance in Derby, they can offer most of the bits / services you'll need for 500+ including a limited slip diff :) http://www.paramount-performance.com/S-type/
  9. 34 mpg is about the best you'll get from a 4.2 even on long continental runs
  10. Personally I wouldn't bother, mine got really ratty so I chucked it, in normal driving I can't tell the difference but when I put my foot down you get a bit more lovely V8ness :)
  11. Hi David You could try Nene Jags if you're in south Lincs, they've always done good work for me Nene Jag Specialists 8 Harvester Way Fengate Peterborough PE1 5UT Tel: (01733) 349042
  12. The guys are right, you'll notice that it only comes on when the headlights are on, at least mine does.
  13. Heated seat were definitely an option, my other half loves them come winter time
  14. The 3.0 litre S-type isn't fitted with a turbo as far as I'm aware.
  15. Hi Brian, Follow Chris's advice, this is standard diagnostic procedure that I was taught 30 years ago when a new engineer and it's served me well since then. Of course it could be a fault in the loom which is a little trickier to fault find on but; "Always check the easy stuff first"
  16. Hi Garry, I fitted EBC standard discs to my V8 last year and they pulled me up from Autobahn speeds with no fade at all. Unless you're going to use it on track days my guess is no, on the other hand they do look the part!

  21. No Worries Paul I'd stick with the ones you've got, they remind me of OZ supertourismos, nice
  22. Hi Paul, Please see the attached photos Cheers Mike
  23. Personally I think your wheels look great and I'd happily swap them for my 17" Kronos but sadly they're not in perfect condition and they're coming up for needing new tyres so I don't think it would be fair.............. Shame
