Factory fitted bass box?

Hi all,

Another thing that I don't like about my jag is the lack of bass from the speakers.

I had all ready changed the front door speakers for focal ones which has helped but I'm still looking for more bass.

Do you have the Jaguar factory fitted bass box under the rear shelf?  If you do is it any good?

Thanks.

I'm also relatively pleased with mine, but I used to dabble in ICE and I know it could be better. Being that the B&W system in the XF had 17 speakers and c450W, and was voted the best ICE system in the world (at the time), I suspect there is improvement that could be made to the standard S-Type audio. I'd recommend an upgrade of the standard drivers as a good start point, going for efficiency over ridiculous peak power figures, it may be that your speakers are damaged Simon. If still not good enough after this then there's plenty of room in the boot for a custom / aftermarket bass box ;)

I find my standard audio system perfectly functional as well, although I tend to listen to Wagner, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.

However, I intend to retrofit the premium system just as soon as I can locate the bits and pieces. :)

Hi

my s type has the premium sound system, speakers are by alpine and the sound and bass is excellent

I checked the manual and it has a total of 10 speakers and two of those are subs in the rear shelf

so you should be able to upgrade you speakers if wanted better sound

cheers

Hi, the premium system (as l understand) has a amp which powers all the door speakers and another amp which is mounted under/in the rear speaker enclosure which powers the 2 enclosure  speakers.

So what is the sound like from just the rear enclosure?

Thanks

Hi

it has 4  speakers and 4 tweeters in the doors and two subs are mounted in the rear parcel shelf

there all off the same amp

the subs just give the bass,

there all alpine on mine and you can adjust the bass on the touch display

sound is superb, I would change anything on the sound system, sound wise its spot on, apart to add a audio connectivity module so i could play music from a flash drive

cheers

Joe

Audio Connectivity Module is ridiculously expensive Joe, unless you find one in a breaker's and they don't know what it is and how much they retail for.

Having said that, for all it's cost, the best modification I've made to The Princess. Works perfectly in conjunction with the integrated audio / Voice / Touchscreen and gives one a choice of iPhone, iPod, USB or phono inputs.

Some of the Wagnerian operas I listen to are four hours long. Using iPod, I can play the whole opera through without having to change media.

Hi Joe,

You say there's only one amp for the whole system, where is the amp fitted in your car?

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Will drop on a ACM eventually, will keep looking, don't think i will buy a new one.

Did you fit yours or is it OE

cheers

Joe

I fitted it myself Joe, one of four I've done now. Dead easy apart from feeding the cables through the centre console.

Its fitted on the top of the satnav DVD and CDC rack in the boot.

So if there's only one amp which is on the rack above dvd, what's the amp which is mounted in the bass speaker enclosure?
