Good Morning,

I am slightly confused {it doesn't take much at my age !}  I see a lot of s types on this forum with leapers,  I thought they were illegal.   But I have seen folding ones fitted with a spring.

Would they be legal?  I would like a leaper but don't want to break the law or upset my insurers.

thank you grumpy

Hi Brian,

The leaper is quite legal but has to be properly located and must have be able to leave the car rather than to remain firm in an accident.

I have a leaper that was not a springer one but an adhesive one that swivels.

Regards,

Peter.

hi

the sprung leaper are legal, as they break off if hit with force

they can only go in one place on a S-type, theres a hole in the bonnet frame work and the hole must be in the middle

if you fit one make sure you buy a s-type one, as the base is curved, theres a few different types, make sure its put on the right way round aswell, like in peter's photo, see so many on backwards

cheers

Joe

Here's mine, which was easily fitted - the scariest bit was actually drilling a hole in the bonnet! Measure thrice, drill once.. 😨
