Feel free to give us a try if you like.

Hi Robert,

After a row with LV I went for Swift Cover.  Around £500 for an 80 year old in expensive Birmingham wasn't bad!

Peter.

Cheapest quote I get is £750.

My mate pays £300, same age, same no claims and in a !Removed! part of London!

Is it worth getting comprehensive? F&T enough?

I did the "go compare" exercise as my premiums from LV went up after my car was stolen, and I finished up with Swiftcover.  Tesco was the other good offer.

I have found SwiftCover very helpful to talk to over the'phone.

Always go for Fully Comprehensive  ----  it is worth it both for peace of mind, especially if you are involved in a write off.

Counterintuitively Tom, you might be surprised to find that TP F & T can cost more then comprehensive.

Thanks guys. I went through go compare and my current insurer still came out top!

I'll definitely stick with comprehensive

Hi Robert. I'm going through the comparing process at the moment as my current insurer, one call, came in with an increased renewal of £270 full comp. Same modal as yours, but I am 68. So far "compare the market.com has brought up "dialdirect" at £210 full comp. Hope this helps.

Hi John, and welcome to the Club.

I will have to come to live in Lincolnshire ----  my insurance cost £600 fully comp.  Saga quoted £890.

There is a very high premium for cities.

Peter.

Recently insured my 2008 2.7 XF - Tesco came up the cheapest but that was still £680 with 7 years no claims. If you do go with them you get money off with the points card too.

I changed this year from Swiftcover who quoted £640 to Esure who were £100 cheaper.  The West Midlands is not a cheap area for insurance.

Hi All

Just a quick update, last year got her insured with Hastings Direct fully comp / NCD protected and windscreen covered. got the usual letter when the insurance is due, you know the one "You don't have to do anything, your cover will automatically re-new" blah blah... I cant remember the cost last year, but it was around the £500 + mark, any way the new quote £900 + !

As I do every year, I did the 'go compare' / 'compare the market' thing and Hastings Direct (figure that out?) came out best at £732 I went and had a look at Adrian Flux and got a quote, which I have just accepted if I paid up front it would have been £530 (I pay monthly) so its just over £600
