  1. Hi Sometime when I can't find something, search for s-type breaking And then message them for a price on the part you want Cheers Joe
  2. No they fit, I've seen lots of people using them on Str on other forums, the only 10 mm wider, but must be a more popular size as there always cheaper Cheers Joe
  3. Hi Jon I'm running continental sport contact 3, as jaguar recommend there ok, both dry and wet but they don't grip as good as i would like, you notice when pulling out of junctions, the traction control holds the car back a lot and its hard to pull out fast on a junction unless you turn the traction control off also a lot of people fit 285 35 18 as well, as there cheaper and the slightly fatter tyre protect the rims better as they protrude slightly more, the 285's must be more popular when my wear out, think I will look towards Pirelli's p zero or goodyear eagle f1, both of these get good recommendations, but will have to look more into it when the time comes closer cheers Joe
  4. Hi All Just got a full size spare alloy wheel, to replace the daft space saver but now the tool kit foam won't fit inside the wheel Anybody on here got a full size spare, If so I'm after the part number of the tool kit foam, its right at the top in one corner, or if any body knows the part number that would be even better thanks Joe
  5. hi It will work because its oil, but wont last if its used hard you also have to remember, when you drain the ZF gearbox oil, you can only get about 5.5 litres out, but the gearbox holds 10 litres so your only adding some of the oil, It wont fail instantaneously and if driven sensible could still last years, but if driven hard, it will fail. the lifeguard 6 is chosen for extended protection, life and smoothness I bet it does not drive as nice as it should, I bet the shifts are a lot harsher cheers joe
  6. Hi I working on converting the rear lights to LED I bought a set of rear light lamp holders to modify to accept led lamps, so it can be put back to standard if required I using the same bulbs above for the reverse and indicator, so both indicator and reverse will come on at the same time, as both lenses are clear, both will light up orange when indicators are on and both will light up white, when in reverse also both side lights, will have brake lights, as standard only the outer side lights come on when braking will let you know when there done cheers joe
  7. Hi Paul at the end of the day, oil is oil, basically the gearbox is a hydraulic pump, solenoid valves and clutches so it will work because its a oil, so you will get oil pressure, valves and clutches will operate, but theres many intricate part that are not designed for that oil but remember this gearbox is used in the s-type r, which pushes over 400 BHP through it, whilst it will work, in a car used daily with no abuse run hard and your going to get severe wear, atf just aint up to it remember it was supposed to be sealed for life, so the oil they fitted was the best available and was designed to last many years atf has to be changed regular, as it degrades fast with heat and abuse the question is, "would you put it in your gearbox ?", I know I would definately would not use it mine, I would only use Lifeguard 6, as Jaguar recommend also the zf 6 speed, has the ecu built in and is constantly emmersed in trans oil, which must make it a special oil my next question "would you buy a car off someone who you know has used atf in his zf trans" To me its like using Tesco engine oil in a ferrari, these gearboxes were fitted to jaguars, landrovers, audis, mercedes, maseratis are just a few, its just penny pinching this how cars get bad names, people doing there own maintenance using far inferior parts than recommended and wonder why they break. cheers Joe
  8. Hi The best upgrade I'd say are I fitted Adamesh rear silencers they make the V8 sound absolutely great and there not too loud, just a nice V8 burble at motorway cruising speeds there barely noticeable well recomended cheers Joe
  9. Hi I had to do mine as well makes quite a difference I had to replace the adjusters inside the headlights as one side had broke, common problem, replacement adjusters on ebay do the self leveling still work, every time you switch the ignition on they go all the way up and down then level, if you switch the lights on first then the ignition, you can see the beams go up then down, level sensors on the front and rear suspension sometimes fail, I changed my bulbs for 8000k ones, there slightly blue and look better cheers Joe
  10. HI I fitted after market drl and fogs in place of the fogs and i also converted my indicators to drl and indicator both look really good have a look here http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/13939-facelift-fog-light-removal/#comment-41215 http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/13570-fitted-led-drl-indicators-today-s-type/#comment-39313 also i dont think that controller will work on a s-type as everthing on the s-type uses a permanent live feed and a switched earth cheers Joe
  11. Hi Paul use microsoft word you can paste text documents, pdf's into it, pictures, web pages organise it all how you want, on what size page you want then print it, cheers Joe
  12. hi Jon I was going to go with a 10% pulley upgrade but Most of the people I know who have done it, say the intercooler cant cope with the extra boost and it causes the engine to get to hot, which causes other failures, which would means upgraded intercoolers and or larger intercooler radiator up front, getting expensive now and you don't get massive power from the 10% pulley I'm going with high flow cats 200 cell ones, standard cats are very very restrictive, together with kn filter inside the standard airbox , replacement inlet pipe and a descent remap, will see more power gains, with good reliability manifolds are also restrictive but these are also quite expensive to replace cheers Joe
  13. hi when was the last time you replaced the pollen filter, as they get old and dirty they do cause the air flow to drop cheers Joe
  14. Hi If its only a small leak It might be worth having a look and just nipping the bolts up they might be loose and could be a quick fix, I'd try it first cheers Joe
  15. hi have a look here http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=56500 cheers Joe
  16. hi mark on this one, the only way is to plug in and see where the fault is could be one of many faults really, as there's a few airbags, there's also a few sensors on the passengers side, could also also be something like the clock spring on the drivers steering wheel, they also don't like flat batteries which can also cause faults the only way is to plug in with software and see what the fault is cheers Joe
  17. Hi Andrew your old headlight with the loose reflector, all thats up with it, is broken adjusters there available on ebay, in a better resin that will last and won't break again, there quite easy to replace and don't take that long your headlights will eventually go loose and these adjuster will break because they go so brittle and break I did mine and it's something I can forget about now, have a look on youtube, there's video's on how to do cheers Joe
  18. Hi I bought my car from London area I used the train, if you go off peak times its a lot cheaper and I visited my local stoke station and ended up getting a deal, ended up a lot cheaper its not the fastest, but its a day out and a small adventure But what i can say, is the trip back in the STR was a absolute hoot, loved it cheers Joe
  19. hi it might be worth phoning around aswell 5k for a new jaguar engine sounds good, as reconditioned ones are selling for that on ebay you can get fitted and guaranteed ones cheaper so it worth phoning around cheers Joe
  20. hi do you know your engine code if your car is a 1997 xj6 3.2 with engine code 9JPGRB then look below if not let me know you engine code and i will look on autodata if you have a handbook there also listed in there you can't go wrong with NGK plugs cheers joe click on the pic
  21. Hi Mathew If you have added bluetooth module to your 2003 car, they don't usually work, if its the bluetooth module in the armrest the wires in the connector are in the wrong position on pre 2005 cars you will need to swap some wires about on the bluetooth connector in the armrest and some on the connector on the phone module in the boot if you wanted the easy fit you have to fit the later module, black plastic one thats phone and bluetooth in one unit, that goes in the boot, where the phone module is and you need a additional bluetooth antenna for the later module you have to make sure its wired as below, first you need to check you have 8 wires in the bluetooth connector in the armrest, you'll notice the wire position in the connector, don't tally with the wires in the bluetooth unit. if you have 8 wires, you can get the bluetooth working next look at the connector bluetooth in armrest, the pins are numbered, draw a pic and write what colors go where also some of the wires in the phone module will be in the wrong place, this is because earlier cars were wired for phone handsets not bluetooth I think when you check the wiring you'll find 2 wires are in the right place the other six are wrong you need to alter them so , as wiring diagram below pin 1 phone module goes to pin 3 bluetooth connector pin 26 phone module goes to pin 2 bluetooth connector pin 2 phone module goes to pin 8 bluetooth connector pin 3 phone module goes to pin 9 bluetooth connector pin 6 phone module goes to pin 1 bluetooth connector pin 10 phone module goes to pin 7 bluetooth connector pin 22 phone module goes to pin 6 bluetooth connector pin 20 phone module goes to pin 5 bluetooth connector easiest way to do it is unplug the phone module connector and bluetooth connector reposition the wires in the bluetooth connector so connections 3, 2, 8, 9, 1, 7, 6, 5, all with wires in, then write down what color wire you have in each number then rearrange the color wire in the phone connector to correspond with the drawing, so if you put yellow in pin 3 in bluetooth connector, find yellow in the phone connector and put it in pin 1, 2 wires should be correct when you check so yo should only need to rearrange 6 wire and then your bluetooth will work on both connectors there a plastic lock clip, you have to remove so the pins can be removed, you also need a thin wire, that has to be slotted down the front of the connector to unlock it so its slides out, once the wire's are clicked in the correct pin, the plastic clip lock is replaced which locks the pin in position had to do it on mine, works like a dream now cheers joe
  22. Hi The oil in the spark plug recess is oil leaking from the cam cover you could try just nipping up the bolts, just nipp them up don't over tighten them, you want to use a small ratchet like a 1/4 one. don't use a 1/2 ratchet and tighten them right up they might strip the thread. then get some rag, cut it in strips, and poke it down there i with a thin screwdriver while hold the other end of the strip of rag, so you rag remove the rag easy, to mop the oil up. the oil should not really cause a misfire, as oil won't create a short, but if there's moisture or damp there it can cause a misfire nipping the cam cover might stop the leak and you have nothing to lose it should'nt cost too much to have that gasket replace on the next service as theres plenty of access on you engine if i remember right I,d change the plugs, if they hav'nt been done recent, and just clean the oily coil pack, with something like WD40 its also worth, checking all the plugs on the coil packs are clean and no corroded connections, I allways put a quick squirt of WD40 on all connectors like that, keeps the contacts clean and the rubber seal soft, supple and keeps it watertight for the future cheers Joe
  23. HI I bought a kit off ebay 3M HEADLIGHT RESTORATION SYSTEM I did mine and they came up like new, well recomended if you go on youtube and type in 3m headlight restoration theres loads of videos cheers Joe
  24. Hi Jon If the cars sound and mechanically sweet, then it may be worth a dabble especially if your going to do the work your self, just remember at this mileage it may want a few service items in the future like the coolant hose in the valley, if it not been done, then its due, gearbox service oils/filters/sleeve, check the the brakes, later type brakes are more troublesome. later R's also have variable timing, produces no extra power, solely for emissions, but if it don't work, you actually lose power. with this mileage it may also want some bushes and dont forget to check them sills, most important if you do the work yourself, then it can be a bargain, but if it has to go the garage every time, if might be worth buying a sorted one, cheaper in the long run cheers Joe
  25. HI I'd change the auto trans oil, If the oil is low on a auto it can cause the torque converter to slip too much the oil in auto it critical as auto is all mainly works with hydraulics and no or low means a drop in pressure and will cause lots of problems cheers Joe
