  1. HI They do sound ok, but there a bit louder, than the adamesh one and can do your head in on long runs to give you a idea, you could remove the rear silencers and take it for a drive, that would give you a good idea of straight through pipes cheers joe
  2. Hi just looked at the adamesh rear silencers There £450 Now!!!!!, when i got them they were only £299 and that was less than 12 months ago I replaced my rear silencers, just for the sound, its a bit of a rip off really there's less than £100 worth of materials in the rear silencers and they want £450 for them for the replacement high flow cats, the materials come to just under £200 and shops want £1100 for them if you have one made Jon, make sure they use mandrel formed bends, as some exhaust makers just use a pipe bender and they partially crush the pipe, where you would actually get a loss in power cheers joe
  3. Hi Ann If its just the heater Fan, then it should be a easy fix there's plenty on ebay If the noise is coming from the fan and it gets louder as you turn up the fan speed, it could be just the heater fan as for the heater all ways hot, its usually the heater valve , the valve fails and lets hot water constantly into the heater, these are also on ebay, I'd go for a new one not used, you dont know what your getting when you buy used. but you need to make sure you get the right heater valve as there is a couple of different types I think all the heater fans are the same and I'm sure its in one of the foot wells and easy to access, if you were thinking of changing the whole heater, it would be a dash out and would be quite more expensive a half descent garage should be able to identify where the noise is coming from heater fans on ebay vary from 20 to 30 pounds and the heater valves vary from 80 to 135 pounds also can recomend british car parts, they are very reasonable https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jaguar/jaguar-s-type here some examples of fan and heater valve
  4. hi if your after the V8 burble, then the adamesh rear silencers is a cheaper option I going to make replacement cats and centre section in summer, out of stainless, replace the 600 cell cats with 200 cell high flow ones, you get good gains from replacing the cats I've got the adamesh silencers and they sound superb and there not too loud on a run when cruising cheers joe
  5. hi there a S-Type R miltec on ebay at the moment http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-S-type-R-4-2-Milltek-resonated-catback-exhaust-/162245872807?hash=item25c69b8ca7:g:S0UAAOSwNRdYB5G6 cheers joe
  6. hi same type of relays, but mine were black pin 4, normally closed contact. thats used on relay 2, one relay you use 3 and 5 relay 1 and relay 2 you use 3 and 4 numbers are correct on the drawing i put up above cheers joe
  7. hi no did not fit any, just used genuine jaguar relays, some relays have diodes built in, but have not checked whether these have you generally put the diode across the relay contacts, so when the contact open, the diode get rid of the voltage spike, generally on heavier inductive loads, you don't need them on a coil, its too small and because the coil has a resistance that will stop this, also the relays coil resistance also fools the control unit in thinking the bulb is healthy have just completed a complete rear light led conversion, they look really well, will have to post some pics up cheers joe
  8. hi yes its like a cobble up, fitting wheels that not designed to be fitted if you want to fit them you need, wobble nuts, but if they dont fit the hub tight the whole wheel will wobble I personally would not recommend using these, not on a heavy car like a s-type, but its your car cheers joe
  9. hi when you say the oil should last a lifetime manufacturers only rate the lifetime of a car at 10 years, so if its over 10 years old its done its job and due to be replaced so depending on what gearbox you have, if your going to keep the car, it may be worth while changing oil and filter on the zf 6HP26 people have had different results some people have improvement in driving, some people see no change, if it done by a dealer, software is checked and updated if software is old and also adaptations are reset, which basically resets the memory, so the gearbox learns how to change gear again and remembers your driving style I changed my oil, filter, pins and mecha sleeve on the 6HP26, on my s-type and it did make it smoother on mine cheers joe
  10. Hi Jon Its the one that goes from the back of the thermo stat housing to the throttle body, that usually goes, named the valley pipe, early hoses were one piece and they ballooned right by the thermo stat housing, where the hose went from the large size of the stat and then reduced size, later hoses are in two pieces with a plastic adapter that changes the size of the pipe, later ones are much less prone to failing also when you look at the part list, for hoses, there is a large number of hoses on the s-type r In summer, I going to change my valley pipe and go to evans waterless coolant, I've used it in other cars and bikes and it very impressive , you get no pressure in the system what so ever, when the engine is running and the fan is on, you can just unscrew your expansion tank cap and nothing happens, as there is no pressure and you never need to change it again, well recomended, but its a not cheap on the STR as you need twice the amount of coolant as it holds quite a lot cheers Joe
  11. Hi Jon I got my valley pipe from sng barret it was about £14 pounds I wish a company would do a full silicone hose set for the s-type R, that would sort any future problems with hoses cheers joe
  12. Hi Russ I got mine from here, also good source of parts and service items cheers joe
  13. Hi Gary Let us know what you think of the tyres was thinking of have these on mine, when the continental sport 3, wear out on mine cheers Joe
  14. HI Hit it with something and phone autoglass, then the cost of you access I bet there over £500 to buy, you pay your insurance, why not getting a bit of it back that's what I'd do cheers Joe
  15. Hi I had a battery drain, ended up been a tracker hidden in the boot, oe Jaguar, no idea it had one fitted, but it had a small house alarm type battery, which had gone duff and was draining the main battery cheers Joe
  16. hi I think a lot of people think that most big engine car are dirty, but nowadays there not, there cleaner than most older smaller engine cars but its a good sign of the state of the engine, if emissions are low, then the engine and electronics are all working well but back to david's post, if a car been well looked after, your going to get less problems, but then you get the car that still all ways lets you down even though its been well looked after cheers joe
  17. HI My 2004 S-type R has only just covered over 30k and its great I've Had it over a year and its never missed a beat, the engine and gearbox is perfect and it never uses a drop of oil that was the main reason I bought it was low mileage and Jaguar Full service history, oil changed every year with less than 3k done each year this was the lowest mileage I'd seen and it drives faultless, not even a rattle and i put it down to the mileage it had done the only bit I was worried about were sills, but they were also like new and the only other thing was the emissions at mot, but even that shocked me, for a big v8, it had the lowest emissions I'd ever seen cheers joe my emissions at mot, just brilliant for a 4.2 supercharged v8 CO was 0.003, HC was 0, and Lambda 1.003
  18. hi I think this is at the british heritage museum, more than sure I've seen it there, when I've been the Jaguar breakfast club cheers Joe edit just checked yes it was
  19. hi have you looked on ebay these quote part number C2C36506 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RADIATOR-ENGINE-WATER-COOLANT-Jaguar-S-Type-XF-XJ-X350-2002-2011-Petrol-A-/291559184726?hash=item43e2481956:g:gaoAAOSwQTVV7rjT http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-S-Type-CCX-1999-2007-Saloon-From-Chassis-M45255-Radiator-Petrol-Automatic-/401137901253?hash=item5d65ae9ec5:g:kzoAAOSw-4BXYlO0 cheers
  20. wow thats expensive, radiators are around £100 so that means £400 labour, wow I'd replace it yourself if i was you cheers joe
  21. Hi Phil At a guess your headlight adjusters have broke, if you remove the bulb cover off the high beam and hold the bulb if you move it up and down and it's sloppy not attached to anything the adjusters have broke It's a common problem on s types and x types, there plastic and go brittle and break If you look on eBay for s-type head light adjusters you can but them and if you look on YouTube there a video on how to change them Or other option is just to replace the headlight I replaced both adjusters on mine on both sides, it's quite straight forward and also it's a bumper off job Cheers Joe
  22. Hi Jason They recommend the changing the fluid, bottom cover/filter, cover pins and mechatronics sleeve at 60 k I'm assuming its got the ZF 6HP26 6 speed auto box my S-type R, has that gearbox and my car has only just covered 30k, I changed mine this year and can be done by the diy'er if you have a descent set of axle stands and trolley jack you have to get the car up and level your talking £197 for the genuine zf parts off ebay, that fluid zf lifeguard 6, pan/filter, pans pins updated, mechatronics sleeve(plastic sleeve seals wiring connector into box, common leak area) about £400 to £500 at a dealer have a look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAMseFY8GpY made a bit of difference to mine, but it also drove good before, changed for peace of mind really cheers joe
  23. hi saw this, thought I'd share http://www.topspeed.com/cars/jaguar/2006-jaguar-s-type-r-ar13169.html cheers Joe
  24. hi all the bushes are available on ebay usually the ones on the bottom of the shocker or anti roll bar drop links are usually the culprit, but there's quite a few they can be straight forward to replace, but can be time consuming, especially if you have to remove the bottom arms nice and easy to press out if you have access to a press or I've done them using a descent bench vice and various size sockets to press them out rear drop links on anti roll bar are easy to change and quite cheap and is what I'd swap first, also check the rubber boots on the drop links and rear toe links. if they have perished, water has got in and there probably the cause of the knocking If you do need to replace any bushes, go for factory style bushes, don't go for poly type bushes, you will lose comfort and they can sqeek really bad sometimes and will drive you nuts cheers joe
