  1. I was referring to the as fitted one from Jaguar that are fitted to the negative terminal of the battery on 2009MY car’s onwards. Cars with this system fitted should not charge direct to the battery as the BMS can be damaged leading to fault lights on the dashboard.
  2. As your car does not have the BMS (battery Monitoring system) then yes, you can connect direct to the battery to charge it. It is advisable though to connect the negative of the charger to a suitable ground point close to the battery.
  3. I’d be very surprised if it was the column. More likely to be steering fluid or the steering joints.

Sounds like one of the ignition relays is sticking and not allowing the car to shut down properly. A competent sparky should be able to locate the problem.
  5. Sounds like you’ve tripped the immobiliser. Disconnect the battery again and leave it for about 10 minutes. As it is cranking, check the inertia switch hasn’t tripped. After 10 minutes, reconnect and try again assuming the battery is good of course.
  6. If it’s as baked on as you say then even oven cleaner won’t shift it. 10 minutes with the drill, job done.
  7. What you need is one of those rotary brass wire brushes that fit into an electric drill. You then need a small rotary polishing mop with metal polish and away you go.
  8. Search utube for DCCV (dual climate control valve), it will show how to test or replace.
  9. Check within the vehicle settings on the infotainment screen to see if they have been switched off, that’s if they were fitted in the first place. They were optional, not standard and had to be ordered by the original owner.
  10. There is no sensor in the door, it is the microswitches in the mechanism that gives the warning on the dash. You either have a defective door lock switch or a wiring fault. You really need to get the codes read to give you a better idea.
  11. My 2012MY has the reverse camera fitted. They were optional extras until the later run out models. Retro fitting one shouldn’t be too difficult, you would need the loom, the camera and then the programming of the system to accept it.
  12. I would check the state of charge in the battery as those warnings are normally evident with low voltage.
  13. Hi Steven, You really need to get the codes read to see what’s going on. In the meantime, a few simple checks may help allay your fears. Oil level, top up as needed. Any signs of oil leaking? If memory serves, low oil pressure will give a non start condition. Fully charge the battery also.
  14. The latest official disc is 2012 however, there are websites that have more modern discs that do work.
  15. If you are planning on selling then Chipsaway would probably be your best bet.
  16. Most likely cause will be the DCCV sticking. A quick search will provide more info on the subject.
  17. Listening to the sensors is in no way conclusive proof you have a problem with them. Ideally, you should get yourself a code reader and see what the car says. Do check the module connectors for any signs of water ingress.
  18. Yes they are only supposed to open a few inches, there is however, a mod you can do that allows the boot lid to spring open fully.
  19. There is a secret menu accessible from the main screen. There may be a setting in there you can change. Here is the instructions on how to access it, http://www.jaghelp.com/2014/05/how-to-access-xk-and-xf-navigation.html
  20. That meet is being organised by and for the members of jaguarforum.com, unfortunately it is not a turn up on the day event.
  21. The most common affliction associated with this problem is the battery being low on voltage especially if you restart the engine and the faults disappear. Your first call is to ensure you have a fully charged battery and check it with a meter, 12.8v is what you should have.
  22. The airbag code 17 (one long flash, 7 short flashes with the airbag light) is an occupancy sensor fault. This is usually caused by a loose/dislodged cable under the front seats. Have you moved the passenger seat or driver's seat recently? Have a check under the seats and make sure everything is correctly connected as it should be.
  23. There is no cover on the locknut. You should have a locknut socket in the boot that will only fit one way. If the locknut is not present then you will need to find an independent who can remove them for you. The best advice you’re ever gonna get is, once removed change them for ordinary lug nuts.
  24. Are you sure it’s not the webasto heater firing up?
