Kevin I now run a 2005 (Facelift) S-Type 2.5 petrol auto. I cannot help but agree about Nissans of the older generation. They were basically bullet proof. In my younger years (now 72) and until about sixty I ran such Nissans as 200sx (S12, S13, and S14), Primera eGT (SR20) and Skyline R33 and R34 GTR. Those were the days. Having said all of that I really do love my S-Type, even though it needs a lot more attention and costs a lot more to keep running. Best Wishes and Regards, John

Rob Have now checked the features on the CTEK MX 7.0 It CAN be used to keep a supply to your car whilst you swop batteries. There is a video on CTEX`s own website where this is explained and I have attached a link to the video. https://www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/mxs-7-0-uk The manual supplied with the product is not particularly expansive with information but their own website has series of video explanations that makes using the unit understandable. Rob I misunderstood your posting, thinking you were looking for a battery charger/conditioner for the new battery, knowing that the S Type drained a battery somewhat. Not certain of the actual swop procedure, so would not advise. Someone else on this Forum will certainly be willing and able to give you that advice. There is a very definitive document on this Forum on how to Reset a Battery if you loose the codes . I have tried three times to attach it to this message and always lose it. I will put it on a separate post. There is a mass of information online regarding the CTEK equipment. It comes complete with instructions and all fittings that are needed to set it up for your car. Robert In my opinion, I would suggest that probably one of best you could purchase is a CTEK 7. Could be I am bias as I use one, but you will find it is well supported by many members of this Forum. Regards and Best Wishes, John

Martin I feel your mechanic is going to struggle to see if the CAT is, as you put it "blocked", without removing it, which is not a simple five minute job. He may however be able to hear, by tapping it heavily with his fist, if there is any debris in there. If it were "blocked", I somehow doubt that the car would run very well, if at all, if it was "blocked." Just to remind you, my car was running extremely well and had no signs of what is often associated with a knackered CAT. It took me a lot of trial and error to get to the root problem and I now wish I had (with hind sight) changed the CAT in the first place instead of investing time and money in trying other parts first kin the hope of saving some money. This I did not achieve. It is easy with hind sight, is it not ???????? I have attached a link to where I bought my new CAT and for information it was £170 , you may also need to acquire a fitting kit which will cost around £12. The supplier of the CAT that I bought does not sell fitting kits but there are plenty on Ebay. With both the CAT and the fitting kit be warned that there are two different ones fitted to 2005 cars. You will need to have established which your car has and it is best to provide your chosen supplier with the VIN No. for your car. There are cheaper CAT`s available on Ebay but you will have to be aware of quality and warranty. I was personally not satisfied with answers to questions I posed to the cheaper suppliers. There again though, I am a great believer in, "You only get what you pay for". I am seeking views/opinions on using Engine Oil Additive's with normal engine oil changes. Have seen the claims of such products as Ametech RESTORE claiming : RESTORE ENGINE POWER RESTORE ENGINE LIFE REDUCE OIL & FUEL CONSUMPTION Do not have any of the above mentioned problems, but am wondering if this (or this type of) product can help in avoiding these problems in later engine life. Tony I was in the same place as you at one time. I had a son who would have done the job in no time at all. He was actually a degree qualified race engineer. Unfortunately I lost him four years ago, when he took his own life and left two sons behind. He was twenty eight years of age, I am 72 and nowhere near as agile as I once was. Just to add to the problems my wife died in March of this year. Enough about my demise. Yes, I do care very much about being road legal and RING Xenon 200 are guaranteed as road legal bulbs. No, I do not fancy putting the lamps in the oven at all. In fact I do not fancy doing the job at all. I have wondered about buying a second hand pair of lights but was concerned that I would end up, as you unfortunately did, with another pair that had broken.
