  1. hi on the wheeler dealer video, he disconnects the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator the vacuum line alters the fuel pressure slightly, so when the car idles the fuel pressure is slightly lower the return fuel line is still connected the fuel pressure regulator will still lift on over pressure, anywhere from 35 to 45 psi if the machine runs a 50 psi or greater all the excess will go back to the tank trust me I know some one who does it ask any body who has had it done if they notice any difference after a few weeks cheers Joe get some of this does the exact same
  2. hi have a look on SNG Baratt site is this what your after cheers Joe https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/English/FindParts/Families/S-Type and X-Type/12/50/3197/14838/1/10/1/viewassembly/7472/:OIL FILTER AND COOLER-DIESEL
  3. Hi here's a landrover runaway Runaway Diesel Defender 200 TDI
  4. Hi I would'nt use it in my car if you have ever seen a cylinder head apart, it takes some serious scrapping to remove carbon deposits, or have a look at a EGR valve, it takes some serious elbow grease to get the carbon off and you think a additive in the fuel, will clean it, there proven video's on the valve gear photographed before and after and there no difference but I can tell you how the car performs better after and how the emissions are lower when they do the process they use two canister of fuel/cleaner, they plumb the machine to the fuel rail and pull the fuse for the fuel pump, so the engine runs off the fuel in the machine two canister of fuel has got to be over 2 liters, yet to burn 2 liters of fuel would take quite a while, but the process does not take that long, if the machines fuel pressure is set higher than the car fuel pressure regulator, then the access pressure would be sent back to the tank , adding there fuel to your tank, any octane boost added to the fuel, will make marked difference in performance and it will even drop the emission a good bit a modern engine is designed to burn 100% of the fuel, other wise the cats get hot and get damage, so if the fuel burns how is Terra clean going to clean it and if it does disturb any carbon where's is going to go ?, stuck on a valve seat, stuck in the cat if it actually works, why don't manufacturers recommend it cheers Joe
  5. Hi Petrol 5.0 V8 Supercharged every time, For me any way. but if your looking at diesels, then the 2.2 going to be better on fuel, if thats your thing, but its not going to be refined as the 3.0, but the 3.0 is a v6 , so its going to be a lot smoother and have much more power, road tax might be quite higher on the 3.0 as well. personally I'd go with the 3.0, https://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/jaguar/xf/saloon-2008/22d-163bhp-luxury-4d-auto/road-test/54728/ https://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/jaguar/xf/saloon-2008/30d-v6-s-luxury-2011-4d-auto/road-test/51594/ cheers
  6. Hi Caliper hand brake cable arm can go stiff putting extra load on epb motor, slider pins are for foot brake mainly, modules can go, but if it's working it not usually this and the module may need reprogramming to the can if a new one is fitted, best way is to get jaguar software plugged in and it will tell you the exact fault, saves any quess work, which ends up cost more in the long run, cheers
  7. Hi If you search epb loads come up, this must come up every week Most common when your battery gets low You need to plug in with jaguar software will tell you the exact fault Going to be either a low battery, stiff hand brake cables, when the rubber boots perish they get wet and freeze this time of year, faulty epb motor or stiff calipers Software will tell you exact fault, epb monitors position of parked and released, motor current, if these are not correct, then it faults, battery disconnect usually cures it, unless fault still there Cheers Joe
  8. Hi British car parts or SNG Barratt, cheers
  9. hi post some pics up, will help identify it cheers Joe
  10. Hi Rich and Welcome Same here, had many Fiat's and Alfa's, many Uno Turbo's, Coupe's 20v Turbo's, all ways loved the 2.0VT engine, superb piece of kit and many Alfa's, Sud Sprints, Alfa 90's, GTV6's, Alfa 75's 3.0l cloverleafs and 1.8 Turbo's I got the STR, because I wanted something a bit more refined, rather than just raw power, still got a mitsubishi as well I like the X-type's, as long as you find a good solid one, you get a lot of car for your money, cheers Joe
  11. hi most bits can be bought on ebay If you after dealer levels software I use a Mongoose lead and Jaguar IDS/SDD, can be bought from British Diagnostics for around £100 here a electrical manual X-Type Electrical Guide 2004.pdf and a workshop manual Jaguar Workshop Manual X-Type 2001-2009.pdf theres also a lot of info here http://jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  12. Hi For how much hand brake cables are, I'd replace them with new ones new cables run dry and they have a slippy type plastic liner, which does not need lubricating once they have been lubricated, you have to do it regular and when its cold, like now around the zero mark, the oil grease goes very stiff and can cause a binding caliper on mine with a EPB, it can cause a nightmare, first time it sticks on a cold morning, you'll wish you just fitted new ones, been there, done that, never again cheers Joe
  13. Hi Yes but it wont fit the S-type, X-type or XJ its for the later cars and won't work on the D2B network cheers Joe
  14. hi the level sensor is in the bottom of the expansion tank you can get the sensor from british car parts https://www.britishparts.co.uk/jaguar-c11/jaguar-s-type-c24/cooling-heating-c62/expansion-tank-sensor-p4768 or sng baratt, its underneath back middle, be very careful when removing the hoses, the plastic stubs, go very brittle and break ever so easy, especially the small one top left also one hose clips on, you have to press a metal clip to remove the hose, be cautious here as if you remove the clip, it can pop off and be lost very easy, there not available on there own also I've seen this on some cars where a cheaper expansion tank has been fitted with no sensor fiited to the tank cheers Joe
  15. Hi I only check my STR once a month as it never uses any, but mines a petrol Yours is a diesel, I'd check it once a week, mainly not for oil going down but going up if injectors start to get leaky and can cause the oil level to go up this needs to be kept an eye on, as can cause serious damage to a engine, as it can cause it to engine to "run away" cheers Joe
  16. hi try british car parts https://www.britishparts.co.uk/ or sng barratt https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/English/FindParts/Families both offer genuine and aftermarket, I'd go for the aftermarket there just as good and jaguar dont make there own discs any way there bought in cheers Joe
  17. HI Might be a faulty CD changer, check all the connections on the back of it All the audio is transmitted down fiber optics on the D2B network, every thing is in series and daisy chained, if you unplug one fiber optic cable you loose all the sound, also worth checking the connection on the audio amp as well as thats on the same fiber optic circuit cheers disconnecting the battery usually clears any faults Joe
  18. Hi The Hid lights is not a easy job to swap to manual adjustment on hight all the wiring is wrong and the headlight connectors are different if you can get it diagnosed, its most probably a simple fault like ballast, ignitor there quite straight forward to swap, headlight has to come off and also bumper bumper quite easy to remove, takes less than 10 mins to remove also if the headlights have been unplugged while the battery is connected, the self leveling will stop working and can only be reset with jaguar software IDS/SDD to get them working again If it were my car I'd get the hid's working, leds are easier to fit to the standard headlights, but not that easy to the hid headlights, also I dont think the led's are as reliable as the oe lights, most cheap led bulbs dont last long due to heat also if you get plugged in with jaguar ids/sdd it will tell you the faults with the lights cheers Joe
  19. hi if its like the s-type, you have to reset the brakes by disconecting the battery make sure you have the stereo code first cheers Joe
  20. hi though the key buttons will work, the key wont start the car as your car wont recognize the immobilizer transponder inside the new fob you will need to take the car somewhere to get it programmed to the car, needs software and a lead cheers Joe
  21. hi think I've seen posts before on this is there a cross bar above, can remember someone saying that they had to loosen the cross bar above to get the engine cover on easier cheers Joe
  22. Hi Yes you have to use the loading.kwi file make sure the dvd is a dual layer and you burn it at the slowest speed, it should work usually a original 2012 jaguar navigation disc will also fix it as thats got the loading.kwi file on it as well cheers joe
  23. Hi No leave it till you have a pair, for one it will be illegal and will make the car handle and stop erratic best to leave it as it is, till you have a pair also the narrower will be better in winter as well, especially if we get any snow, cheers Joe
  24. hi usually the R's have staggered larger tyres at the rear, if yours are the same all rounds, odds are there not the original wheels and are off a normal xf there's nothing to worry about, they just usually have wider rear for the extra power cheers Joe
  25. Hi I assume you mean on the climate control temp screen I'd check all the connectors on the touch display and nav unit in the boot only other time i've seen this if some one has pressed update software in the hidden menu's, if so there another procedure for that cheers Joe
