hi You need a multi meter and test what voltage you have there, no point guessing You should have over 12volts at all times, more towards the 12.5 volts with engine off with engine running it should be over 14 volts ideally 14volts to 14.5 volts, if it drops below 13.5volts running alternators it faulty, below 12.5 volts alternator fried most alternators have brushes in them that connect to the armature, varying the voltage on the armature alters the alternator output, so as the brushes start to fail, alternator output current can fluctuate intermittent, until they fail all together, usual symptoms lights when on, lights brightness can flicker or fluctuate you need to check the voltage on the battery and see what you get, if you get 14.5 volts and the battery light is on, then the fault could be elsewhere also you can put the dash in diagnostic mode and monitor what voltage the battery is, but recommend using a multi meter first on the actual battery cheers Joe

Hi Post some pics up cheers Joe -
Hi You will only get what people are prepared to pay for it I would look on autotrader and ebay for similar spec ones and that would give you a starting price then look at your own and adjust the price, for lower mileage, service history, and any extra features/options that others dont have if you over price people just wont look at it, but most people are prepared to pay extra for lower mileage, service history and options other don't have cheers Joe

Hi Ive had it before on other cars, not the s-type they have a switch on the wiper motor, that gives it its park position, usually its all greased up and Ive found on a couple of cars the grease dry's up and stop it working correct all I did was clean the contact up with wd 40 and then re-apply fresh grease but on the s-type its most probably just as easy just to replace the wiper motor cheers Joe
-
Hi and Welcome I also Have the S-type R, which always manages to put a grin on my face Post some pics up of your car cheers Joe

hi Is it 5 speed or 6 speed does the D light up in drive, in not it does not know its in drive, might want cable adjusting does it work on manual j-gate side , also does 2, 3, 4,or 5 light up you need to plug with software really, might just be a simple fault or sensor, a descent auto box specialist should be able to sort it cheers Joe
-
Hi if its the same as the s-type, its integrated into the rear window there's also a amplifier for it aswell cheers Joe

3 ltr v6 diesel jag xf premium lux timing belt
JOE-DOT-COM replied to captain Alan's topic in Jaguar XF Club
HI I did'nt think 3.0tdv6 has a timing belt cheers Joe -
HI Yes it did, but it can be retro fitted, to 2002 onwards, the bluetooth module plugs in where the phone does but some of the wires need swapping in the connector in the armrest and on the connector in the boot on the phone module, its quite straight forward cheers Joe

Hi My STR has the ski hatch, but it looks like there's a chunk missing from yours there should be two doors/covers, one opens from inside the boot and the other opens from inside the car and there should be a large ski bag there also cheers Joe

Hi , I try changing the oil and filter on your gearbox fault, thats the ford autobox and should not be too much to change depends on the state of the oil, some people notice a massive change and some people don't, but it got be a good starting point and usually fixes a lot of autobox faults cheers Joe
-
Hi I would stick with the 5w30 as it what jaguar recommends and the 10w40 and 20w50 might be too thick in winter also I thought the oil has to be 5w30 A5, as that's the one that meets jaguar WSS-M2C913-B , C3 does not meet the jaguar spec cheers Joe

Hi Hard wire kits are available for most devices, which are always a options and easily fitted but I like the option of completely removing the device, when leaving the car and also using the device in another car, the Dash cam/navigation device I use only occasionally, it was quite expensive and I use in my other cars mainly on long trips cheers Joe
-
Hi I had to remove mine, when I serviced the car, changing the supercharger belt and aux belt its quite easy, I used a larger printer type syringe to remove the anti freeze, then the hoses have constant pressure type hose clips, pliers work well to squeeze them and remove them usually I would say be cautious because the two pipes on the expansion tank are really brittle and can snap real easy, but as your changing dont matter sensor is underneath, just unplug the bottom hose has a metal clip, you can press the clip or remove the clip to get the hose connector off, but if you remove it don't lose it, as they can't be bought on the own if i remember right theres just one fixing on top and the bottom just slots on I found it easiest to loosen the tank off, remove upper hoses and then the bottom hose, clip is a little more fiddly cheers Joe

Hi I bought usb sockets of ebay and fitted them into my glove box and into the bottom of my arm rest cubby hole both are easy to wire up and on my dash, i just tuck it in around the windscreen trim and just plug it in, inside my glove box cheers Joe some pics glove box covers on glove box cover open arm rest bought these off ebay, cheap as chips, quite good quality when they come, just remember to add a fuse just to protect them, just took them out of there mounting plate, as its not needed and looks neater.

Hi I use a bluetooth obd adapter, with a app like Torque the temp gauge on the S-type and the X-type is not directly linked to the engine temperature as long as the temp is with a certain band then it will stay in the normal zone on the gauge when you monitor the actual engine temp sensor, it can alter quite a bit but the temp gauge stays normal so if you had a bad connection on the temp sensor, this could cause the gauge to go overtemp also you can put the S-type and X-type dash in diagnostics mode, and monitor the coolant temp directly have a look here http://www.bluejag.co.uk/X-Type Instrument-cluster-diagnostics.php cheers Joe
