  1. Fuse F32 20A in the primary junction box.
  2. Hope it stays off for you Brian and thanks for the update.
  3. Try looking under the dash roughly where your right knee would be.
  4. As with many spurious problems such as this the first thing to do is charge the battery overnight and then see if it happens again.
  5. If you do have a leak then a smoke test will show it up. Any competent mechanic should be able to carry it out for you. Reading the codes may point you in the right direction also.
  6. If Catherine’s info is correct, it is a 98MY XK in which case it will be a key.😉
  7. Welcome to the forum Clive. Take the printed circuit board out of the remote and clean the contact areas with the rubber on the end of a pencil. As you’ve already replaced everything else, that’s the only other thing I can think of.
  8. Hi Fiona, very sorry for your loss. Personally I wouldn’t go near a Jaguar dealer. A few things to consider, tyres, 4 years in one spot equals flat spots - may need four new ones. fuel, whatever was in the tank will probably have gone off and will need flushing and a new filter. battery, dead as a dodo - will need a new one. Look for a recommended Jaguar Specialist in your area and you won’t get ripped off.
  9. You may get more info from this forum, https://www.jaginfo.org/login/
  10. Rod, if you have a smart charger/maintainer such as the CTEK, then yes you can leave it on the car. Simply hook it up and forget about it. Not only will it bring the battery up to full charge, it will then maintain it.
  11. Counting the flashes will equate to a code eg. 2 flashes, a short pause and 2 flashes, long pause and then repeated will give a airbag code of 2-2. Once you have the code we can then get you in a particular area to look for the problem. Most likely problem, from your description, would be the clockspring within the steering wheel.
  12. Have a read of this thread Brian, might shed some light on your problem. https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=42717
  13. 2 supplies to check first are to the air suspension module. Fuse F12 10A in the rear distribution fuse box and the 20A fuse off the transit isolation relay. The air suspension relay R1 takes an output from the module to switch on. The output circuit feeds fuse F6 40A in the front power distribution fuse box. This thread may be helpful with the P1638 code. https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=94319
  14. They could be historical. As you have them recorded here, delete them and see if they reappear.
  15. If you can’t replicate the fault and it doesn’t happen for you then what is your wife doing that is different? Check the easy stuff first.
  16. Perfectly normal John. You will also find that if you play the radio without the engine running it will shutdown after 10min. These cars are power hungry and they don’t like low voltages.
  17. What voltage do you have at the battery terminals with the engine running?
  18. From the forums I’m a member of and the many people I know with x types, not once have I seen it said, the seats are uncomfortable. If you can find one close by, go for a test drive.🙂
  19. Could also be a slightly worn brake pedal switch.
  20. He is contactable through jaguarforum.com as “bertieboy9”. I’m not on the Facebook either.😊
  21. Might be worth contacting Mark Burton in Leeds, you’ll find him on the Facebook. He breaks x types.
  22. Should be close to the reservoir or under it. Just follow the pipes.
  23. Dunlops used to be my tyre of choice, never had a problem with them. I have since switched to Michelin and found them to be far superior compared to the Dunlops.😁
  24. Well Euan, serious investigation is required. At the front of the engine you could be looking at the thermostat tower and water pump or the hoses to the radiator, if you’re lucky. Thermostat tower and water pump are known to fail. The worst will be the valley pipes though they don’t normally leak from the front. Find yourself a reputable Jaguar Indy and get it pressure tested, this will be the cheapest way of identifying the fault.
  25. I’ve only managed to find the 4.2L and the Silverstone. I’m guessing from the part number that yours had “Supercharged” on it, in which case it may be the holy grail of badges. Here is the Silverstone version. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1015894819
