  1. hi have a look here cheers Joe http://www.jagbits.com/23r134a.html
  2. Hi There's a 17 year old on here with a s-type, though he might be 18 now, so your not the youngest sorry to get bluetooth, there's 2 options, A you need a phone module and bluetooth module, or B you need the later combined phone/bluetooth module also you will need a mic for the roof lining and depending what car it come from, may need programing to the car or you could get a parrot mki9200, which will give you handsfree, bluetooth and mp3 player, may be a easier option cheers Joe
  3. Hi I've fitted hid bulbs before and there loads brighter, Also you need to check the adjusters on your headlights, as there prone to going brittle and snapping, they make the beam droop and give really poor visibility, if you remove the cover from the rear of the high beam, hold the bulb holder, if it feels loose and moves up and down easily, then the adjusters have broke, you can get the adjust off ebay and are easy to replace Cheers Joe
  4. Hi Most body shops can get perfect matches and usually blow into the next panel so you can't tell If the panel can be replaced with a sound non rust panel, that's all way's a better option to swap rather than repair and usually cheaper, less hours involved Also once you have repaired or swapped any panels, make sure you get the car rust treated, lots of companies doing it now Also if you car is the 4.0L, Have the chain tensioner been replaced, oe one's were plastic and can fail big style, later updated ones are made of metal and don't fail Cheers Joe
  5. Hi I'd put it on eBay,it has a world wide audience Put a good description, describe all its history and put as many photos up as you can Put it on a classified or you will get stung with fees I've never lost on a car on there and if it the right car people will travel Cheers Joe
  6. Hi, if you email the jaguar heritage they will tell you and you can get a certificate for your car with all the jaguar information on it I got one forms car when I had it Cheers Joe
  7. Hi That sounds like a stiff cable or stiff\seized handbrake caliper, as its reaching a overcurrent before its reached it taught position Don't thinks it's the module, it would do it more often and at random times Only other thing it could be is epb motor, as they don't put much grease in the gearbox from the factory and they can go stiff Also disconnecting the battery will clear the fault, but make sure you have stereo code, or you can just unplug the epb module which will clear it and won't effect any thing Else on the car Have a look here as well https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8xebdRYwtjE Cheers Joe
  8. Hi check every thing works, especially all the electrics, transmission if its a auto, check central locking works and remotes if its a AWD model, take it for a test drive and take it to at least 70 mph and every thing should be smooth and quiet check the sills and they can rust completely out and it gets missed because there covered with plastic covers service history would be nice, will give you a good idea if its been looked after listen to the engine if its quiet, rattly engine could be dual mass flywheel and can be expensive to change, tend to go quiet when clutch is pressed on a manual have a look on "vehicle smart" app for cars mot history to see its not required any major issues in the past cheers Joe
  9. Hi These cars have lots of electronics and nothing is hard wired, every thing on the Jaguars is can bus networked so when you press the accelerator, that is connected to the front body module, then that talks to the engine ecu, gearbox ecu and various other modules, all through the can network, before the throttle actuator open and revs, all in micro seconds so its really critical on battery voltage, petrol car's seem to suffer least, as they have different alternators and charge at a higher level diesels tend to suffer the most as there alternators charge different and starting on a diesel takes so much out of the battery due to glow plugs and higher cranking amps, sucking more power out of the battery if you only do short runs with a diesel, the battery can get lower and lower, to a point where it will start causing problems with faults the only easy way to prevent this if your only doing short runs is to a smart charger like a CTEK, to keep your battery topped up when not in use I've got CTEK chargers on both of my cars and bikes, My mitsubishi had a new battery over 10 years ago and still works great, A Bosch battery, my jaguar had a brand new Jaguar battery 2 years ago and I've never had any issues with the car. cheers Joe
  10. Hi I'd get it plugged in and check for any fault codes modern cars store most of the faults and should point you in the right direction just swapping parts for new ones can get quite expensive and can take a few goes before you find the fault there that many electronics on modern diesels, it could just be a sensor, only easy way is to get it plugged in or even take it to a diesel specialist, they come across similar faults all the time and may know the cause from experience cheers Joe
  11. Hi sounds like a issue with the glowplugs also may be worth checking the battery, if your battery is getting low, or your alternator is not charging correct, the low voltage may be causing the issue with the glow plugs also the glowplugs kicking in may also even drop the battery voltage low enough to cause a fault on the gearbox I'd get the battery voltage checked first, should be above 12.5 volts engine off and above 14 volts engine running cheers Joe
  12. Hi Only way to be sure is plug in to read the fault codes but its also worth checking your battery is fully charged, as it can cause lot of s-type issues it also might be worth changing the oil and filter, which will also help with a lot of issues on the gearbox cheers Joe
  13. hi wiring diagram here http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Electrical/Elect-Tech All2/94 XJS 4.0L Electrical.pdf just says right fuse panel no 4 also may be worth get it checked by a aircon engineer, don't recommend a car garage as the usually don't know what there doing, go to someone who just does aircon because if there's a leak and the gas is low, there's a pressure switch that's stops the ac compressor clutch engaging to stop damage to itself cheers Joe
  14. Hi sure sounds like turbo whine, does it sound louder one side if the car, just wondered if you could tell which turbo it was, or if it was louder one side also when you drive the car does it make a gushing noise, if so , could be a split hose, I know on XF's intercoolers can fail, but these usually engine management light faults or limp mode It might be completely normal, hopefully some 2.7 XF owners will chime in and let you know cheers Joe
  15. Hi As far as I'm aware there's no joints in the foot well, but it may be behind the front cd player, the cd player is the main D2B network controller, If you lose that connection you lose everything also have you disconnected the battery first, if the system had a fault, disconnecting the battery will clear it, make sure you have the code first for the cd player also make sure you battery is ok, above 12.5 volts with engine off, low battery will cause loads of different faults cheers Joe
  16. HI As Peter said, WD40 should do the trick, A good run and get the cat up to temp might cure it cheers Joe
  17. hi more than sure it chain on yours if you have a engine code, I could tell you for sure cheers Joe
  18. Hi Its a common problem on diesel's, all diesel's not just jaguar's its commonly Injectors failing, leaking injectors is one, they use really high pressures and when they wear with age, they leak, not usually a issue when its running its when you stop the car, the injector weeps diesel into the cylinder, only very small amounts, but this diesel seeps past the piston ring into the crankcase and mixes with the engine oil sometime symptoms can be hard starting when hot, or engine won't rev clean when first started, regular dpf faults and regens can also be symptoms but usually if it starts and drives correct and oil levels stays constant, then there's usually no issues the 2.7tdv6 is used by quite a few manufacturers, peugeot, citroen, renault, land rover, so its quite reliable unit as a rule cheers Joe
  19. Hi if you have a generic code reader, odds are it won't communicate the gearbox ecu, so you won't get any codes you need Jaguar IDS/SDD, yours been 2001 its IDS software if its the 5 speed ford unit, the oil change and filter are quite cheap if its the ZF 6HP25 ^ speed gearbox, then its quite a bit dearer, £200 just for parts, that zf lifeguard 6 oil, filter/pan, new pins for pan and a mechatronics sleeve (seal for gearbox electrics, common fail) 2 - 4 on the left hand of j-gate, 5 speed and 2 - 5 on the left hand of j-gate is 6 speed might be just a fluke, but if there's a issue, it will be back If its never had a oil change its well worth doing there's video's on youtube on how to change the oil cheers Joe
  20. Hi I think thats normal, there should be a plastic type pull on it Its for releasing the boot from the inside, should one get trapped in there or I assume the boot mech fails, drop the rear seat and pull to open cheers Joe
  21. Hi Its also important on diesels to keep regular checks on the oil level They don't tend to fail if the oil level stays correct if the oil rises after a certain level, it can easily be sucked back into the engine via the crankcase breather, which is directly connected to the inlet side of the engine cheers Joe
  22. Hi I'd say battery, even though its new, if the car not used often, it can cause lots of problems Put the car on a trickle charge overnight, that should cure it long term you want something like a ctek car battery charger, they are a smart charger and can be left on charge long term, it will protect the battery and certainly cure lots of problems on the s-type cheers Joe
  23. Hi If the battery was really flat 6 hours charge might not be enough check the battery with a meter needs to be about 12.5 volts engine off I'd put it on charger overnight and then try it cheers Joe
  24. Hi don't think its a turbo actuator as you would get a fault, sticky actuator would cause under or over boost, which would create a fault black smoke tends to point more to a fuel problem injector or faulty sensor causing a richer mixture, hence black smoke best way take it to a specialist really, at least its done and dusted, saves replacing good parts to eliminate fault keep us posted cheers Joe
