Hi all, Wanted to introuduce myself as a first time Jaguar owner. Mostly BMWs but this time round a Jaguar XF seemed the obvious choice. I've attached a picture. Very happy so far (25t r sport with a few extras) but do have a slight niggle I hope others on this forum can help me with. This is my post: Thanks and I look forward to my time on this forum

The XF is going and for my Birthday and start of retirement I had decided to go for something less flamboyant and lower performance as a nice little runaround.... NOT 😉 And here she is:- Deposit paid and due for arrival mid December. She has just about every bell and whistle on board as well 😉 For those who have less than perfect sight, the red text to the left of the "R" badge on the boot lid is:- 5...7...5 🙂

I know that many things here won't apply in SoCal...but the smell of Jaguar is always sweet, even in the midst of troubles. It's not a matter of if you love it. It is a matter of what would you do without it! For me a 1999 XJR about 10 years ago and a one owner 2003 XJR (X308) now. So as owner number two I have to try harder. I have seen the assistance here and hope perhaps I may one day have something to offer also.

Several members of this forum are aware of my present situation and have been asked to keep it to themselves, however, I feel that I should perhaps update anybody who is concerned. We are currently having to deal with the very real possibility that my Wife's breast cancer has returned. In addition, I have just been allowed home following somewhat major surgery. Apologies if these things got in the way of the standard of service some VERY new members appear to expect from me. OTH kindly took the trouble to hint that sometimes people are not available, thanks BTW Frank, but clearly that cut no ice with certain new members whose enthusiasm for the forum as a whole, is clearly evidenced by your singular lack of any input other than to harrangue me. As far as PMs go, one unanswered should have been sufficient. I did not need the follow up. Those who use this forum on a regular basis will be aware that I tend to try assisting where possible as fully as possible and as fast as possible, even as far as hosting people and their cars at my house free of charge and usually with lunch thrown in. I will, of course, endeavour to continue to do so as time and circumstance permit. As to the answer to certain questions of a technical nature? Well, I am still perfectly willing to assist those I can but for some reason I appear to become flustered when pressured / harangued,becoming unable to recall the required detail, unfortunately. However, I am by no means the only forum member with experience of the electronic functions of the S-Type and I fel sure they will be able to assist, approached in a reasonable manner. Please be aware that, although I am, for the moment at least, a moderator on this forum, my comments above are my own personal views and do not reflect the views of the forum admin. Therefore those who might feel offended by my candour should, if required, raise it with the admin. Finally, to all of those who have wished us well and offered support I would like to thank you sincerely on behalf of us both 🙂 Nil carborundum illigitimum.

If I was a religious individual I'd be on my knees saying thank you. We've now had confirmation that Marion's breast cancer has not in fact returned. We both send thanks to those who wished us well recently 🙂

Hi all! I bought my first ever Jag today after dreaming of owning one since I was a kid. I bought a very tidy 2006 2.2l diesel X Type that has done 72k miles with full service history! Very excited to be apart of this community!

Well.....it's fixed!! After a lengthy fuse pulling exercise and replacing back.....the XF has sorted itself. Still baffled which fuse it was because it showed no obvious spiking. However, ever since for the last 2-3 weeks it is working perfectly. Can only suspect dodgy loose fuse or connection. Still not a complete answer, but thought I'd let you guys know that if you have the same trouble, this worked a treat for me.

Just like to say hello from North Lincolnshire. I've recently become an owner of a beautiful 2015 Jaguar Xf. It's a car that I've coveted since their introduction and have now realised an ambition of owning one. Thanks for accepting my request to join the forum, I'm looking forward to learning lots from you very knowledgeable guys.

Just replaced the wheels on my XJ with 'Bionics' from an F-Pace, got the idea from another owner & really love the outcome 🙂 I've kept the original Callisto 20" rims too just in case I decide to swap back.

Today I was shown around a friend's new car, of which he was justly proud, a VW Polo 6. So enthusiastic was he that he insisted I go for a ride with him to see how it performed. Some way down the A449, we came upon a Jaguar in the inside lane and he said with relish "Let's burn this thing off the road... " I said "It's a Jaguar" his reply "Those jags are overrated" I didn't bother to enquire as to the performance of his VW. In the event, nothing came of it as we hurtled past the Jaguar without any sign of it wishing to take part in a race. I noticed the jaguar had a label on the boot. It was XJR575. I can't help thinking that my young friend was just a tad optimistic ')

Lenses crystal clear thank you. The lenses were milky when I bought the car so it was one of the first jobs to do. Followed by an Ebay kit to give me DRL lights hidden in the front indicators. Realistically, I don't see the beam pattern throwing any further; things on the road and verge are just much better lit. For some illogical reason I couldn't stick the mixture of LED and halogen main beam lighting so treated the car to main beam LEDs. It feels spectacular now.

Hi Mark, Thank you. Since posting I recently had one of my cars paint and interior detailed, wheels refurbed and coating added. It looks great. I do try my self to keep them looking presentable but the XJ I only bought last year really need a lot of time spent on it, which I have not had. I am really pleased with the results. I had a 2009 auto diesel estate. Bought with 90k miles on it sold with 140k on it. very few problems but like all cars you need to look after it. always use premium fuel, change oil and filter at approx 9k and take it for a good run about once a month. find a good independent garage that has a good reputation. I had to part with it due to health issues and having to surrender my licence, cheers Rod

I would say if it fits your criteria for your next car then yes. They always seem to get good reviews, even from those reviewers that are somewhat scathing about British cars. All depends exactly what you want but you shouldn't go too far wrong. 😉 😄

I feel that I have been lucky with my ownership of a 2.7 S Type 2007 auto since 2009 when it was 2 years old. My visits to this forum for advice re car troubles has become more regular over the last 3 years and I have now arrived at the junction where a decision has to be made. I have spent over £1200 on my S Type 2.7 over the last 2 years and have MOT advisories for next year that would mean a few hundred more. It is time to part company. I simply don't like the XF or XE as much as the S Type and as it was the looks and driveability of my S Type that brought me to Jaguar in the first place, I have therefore reluctantly decided to move away from Jaguar altogether for my next vehicle. I am very thankful to all members who have contributed towards my online ramblings whilst trying to keep my S Type running. The membership of this club has been very helpful. These forums almost always have the answer if you search long enough. I wish everyone continued good motoring

SOLD 2005 (Facelift model) JAGUAR S-Type SPORT. 2.5 V6 Petrol. First Registered: 09.09.2025. Purchased this extremely good looking and well presented car April 2021 at 60,00 miles. It has now completed 67,000 miles. Since my ownership it has been service annually (approx. 4000 miles per year.) On purchase the car was supplied with a good service history record, was re MOT`d, at my request and was subjected to Gear box Service (Oil and Filter) and NEW 95 Amp/Hr Battery fitted. Is fitted with CTEK monitor and quick plug in adapter in the boot area, (this saves having to connect each time to the battery see photos) . The car is now on a personal registration plate, which will be sold with the car. The model, being a Champagne Metallic Colour (Paint Code MDZ) and a SPORT model, is a somewhat rare car. SPORT model defines that there is no wood veneer on the interior and is fitted with Carbon Fibre type finish panels, along with Two Tone Grey Leather seating and panelling. I would not attempt to suggest that the car is “Pristine”, but it is however in extremely good, eye catching condition, with a few very small blemishes form stone chips etc, etc. These are not distracting from the overall condition and presentation of the car. The car drives and rides beautifully smooth and everything of original fitment to the car works as it should do. All Electric Windows, Navigation, CD and Six Stack Player, Air Conditioning, Stereo Radio, Alloy Wheels etc., etc. All original Jaguar Documentation is with the car. There is a fully detailed (and invoices) service/repair history supplied which has been collated by myself, since owning the car. Details listed below: April 2021 Car Purchased with new MOT and Gearbox Service (requested by myself as part of the deal) 08.05.2021. Changed to Personal Registration Number. 14.07.2021. Full Service @ 61847 mls, including: Bosch Fuel Filter, Bosch Air Filter, Bosch Oil Filter. Platinum 5W40 Engine Oil. New Catalytic Convertor Fitted (Code P0420). 31.12.2021. 64434 mls. New Windscreen Wiper Blades fitted. 04.03.2022. 65038 mls. Hydraulic Brake Fluid Tested (Good condition, under 1%) 30.03.2022. 65247 mls. MOT and Oil/Filter change. (3,400 mls since last oil change). All wheels removed for inspection of disks and pads (all reported as good). Plastic covers on sills removed for inspection. N/S sill had minor rust hole forming. (Sill replaced as detailed further on.). O/S sill reported as needing replacing soon. 13.04.2022. 65282 mls. Two New Front Tyres fitted and Steering Geometry reset. Pirelli Zero GT 245/40 ZR 18 97Y. 09.05.2022. 65789 mls. Removed plastic sill covers, N/S sill welded small hole, O/S sill removed and New Sill weld fitted. Everything under car was rust treated, painted and undersealed. Whole underside of car was Re-undersealed with HM Kurust Tetroseal Wax Rustproof Black £639.92p. 01.10.2022. 67000 mls. New Rear O/S Wheel Speed Sensor fitted. Invoices on vehicle file for all of above listed jobs undertaken whilst car in my ownership. Many references/submissions on this car exist on this Forum. Genuine reasons for having to unfortunately part with this very well cared for and appreciated car. PRICE: £4000 or near offer considered. Hi everyone. I'm here with a view to selling my father's XF. He's 87 and his Jag has mainly sat in his garage for the last 12 years. He was happy just owning it for the most part! He's now deaf as a post and never drives it at all, so I'm selling it on his behalf. It is, as you would expect, absolutely immaculate. Here you can see the system before installation and once fitted to the car. It's very difficult for me to get in position to take the photo so this is as close as I could get. I doubt that anybody not conversant with our cars could tell that it isn't OEM. The camera itself works well with all the usual functions and is controlled via an app on your phone.

I had similar issue on my 2017 F-Pace last week, dealer got me 80% from JLR. I called them and argued then demanded to speak to a manager and he came back and said they will pay 100%, the diagnostic was also covered in this. I quoted consumer rights act of 2015, sold faulty goods and told them they have 1 opportunity to repair or replace and must do so without cost to me, in a reasonable time-frame and with out causing un-necessary inconvenience. They offered a hire car if the dealer did not have a loan car. I should get my car back next tues with brand new turbo, engine and DPF fitted.

New pump installed and all is well. The tank is one awkward so and so to get into place and the 2 pipes underneath are just something else but all the nasty messages have gone away and a pint beckons. Happy days.....till the next time

Welcome aboasrd Derek! With your side repeater, remove the lamp as you did to replace the bulb, disconnect the plug and spray some switch/contact cleaner into the end of the plug and on the contacts in the lamp holder. Refit, test. You may have to repeat this several times before the combination of dis/re-connect and the switch cleaner cleans the oxidisation off the contacts. If several attempts don't fix it, do similar with the bulb and holder but also worth checking the bulb actually works.

For sale - Trigger`s antique broom? 1st reg Feb 2009 this car shows mileage of 198,000 but ...... A replacement Short Engine has only done 75,000. Coolant Rail, Aux Drive Belt, Water Pump, Radiator Fan A/C Condensor and Supercharger Nose Cone have done 35,000. Both Fuel Pumps have done 29,000. The Alternator has done 28,000. All engine Timing Chains and Fuel Pump Camshaft have done have done 25,000 and both Fuel Injector Rails have only done 8,000. The XKR 5ltr is a phenomenal car and this is a great opportunity to get one you can trust. I`ll be fully open about it`s history and also about what it might need next. I`m open to offers around £9,000 to £10,000

Retirement, that is. I really, in all conscience can't see me driving my XF-s once I've finished work in a few months time. Althopugh she is, hands down the best car I have ever owned. So... Electric? Hybrid? A small hatchback for trips to the supermarket? A pox on that 😉 Time to start looking for my retirement car... an XF-R or maybe XF-R S 🙂 Hmm... V8, 5L, Spercharged. Sounds like an ideal retirement present to oneself 🙂

Hi all, just bought my first Jaguar 2 weeks ago, 07 plate S Type, it's been looked after very well, mostly Jaguar dealer stamps in the service book, A very low 76,000 miles, It's just a dream to drive. Already had lots of comments, nice car, lovely car, even had a merc driver tell me how nice a car it was. Hope to meet some of you at future meets. Dave in Yorkshire.

Hi all ,changed N/S & O/S rear door glass quarter seals due them being perished and split easy job 10 mins per side the parts are available at Rimmer Bros N/S -C2Z10105 £38:48 O/S -C2Z10104 £36:69 not cheap I know and different price depending on what side ,but I am fussy and every time I cleaned the car it bothered me to change you just have to remove seal no need to disassemble any glass or door, just remove ,clean area ,I used a little washing up liquid as a lubricant to fit new seal to prevent any tearing of rubber whilst fitting and you just push it back into ridge of the door as the other came from job done ✅ thanks Dan

Hi thank you for replying, I couldn’t agree more all these German cars that seem to dominate the roads just don’t have the same class or ambiance of a Jaguar. As far as the breaks go I’ll give a few hard stops from 30 mph a try and see if it helps free anything up but I have got new disks and pads all round, it’s quite possible that it’s still got the same disks fitted nearly 21 years ago so I think it deserves a new set. The rear subframe is a real concern I think it’ll be a case of having it refurbished in the next few years but as it’s a weekend car and doesn’t get used in winter months I’m hoping it will hold out a little bit longer yet.

hi they use a D2S bulb, thats all you need search for oe ones were osram, Ive fitted 8k colour ones in my STR, there brighter and got a blueish light to them, far better cheap ones are just as good as dear ones, as there all made in china any way, had cheap ones in mine for over 7 years also might not just be the bulb, could be the ignitor, bit on back of the bulb or ballast, bit on side of headlight, they also fail as said above anything upto 30000 volts to get them strike also on my STR you have to remove the headlights to replace the bulbs, as theres not enough space in the engine bay, which means the front bumper has to come off aswell, hope yours is easier cheers Joe

You are 100% right Dave, my auto electrician said that LED was (generally) a waste due to cheap LED quality making LED conversions potentially worse lighting than the standard set up. So if you have knowledge of better quality bulbs, and will try them in the S-Type, all good! I await how you get on with interest, or if I get to it before you I may give these LEDs a go! Or try some 100W H7s as an interim measure. Thanks for raising (and potentially solving 😆!) the issue, most interesting! 👍😀

hi all these are quite easy to do, as long as you have descent jack, axle stands, spanners and sockets front upper ball joint means swapping the whole arm which is quite easy rear tie rods would swap as a pair, these can be a bit fiddly but ok to do, rear tracking or 4 wheel alignment will need doing after this, as the tie rods are adjustable and alter tracking on the rear lower shock bush can be replaced on its own, bushes can be bought, if shocker looks ok, a vice and a few sockets will press the bush out and back in work shop manuals here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe

I have the above detailed car reluctantly for sale. It is a 2006 model but as you can see in the photo has a personalised plate. It has only done 80,000 miles and was a Japanese Import It is in mint condition. It is the long wheel base model. I purchased the vehicle in February 2021. Since owning the vehicle I had all four tyres replaced and both catalytic converters. Also a gold coloured leaper added to the bonnet! I am selling the vehicle because of personal circumstances. Its a beautiful example, but of course I would say that. I'm looking for around £11,500.

If you have one of these nearby worth a punt Pirelli Performance Centre They wont fix the suspension issue (i dont think), but can hopefully tell you what the issue is, and if no issue should sort out wheel alignment.

NOT really how I would expect a private seller to respond to this statement. Consideration to removing the post should be made. Unless the status can be proved otherwise. Regards, John

In behind that grill is the air sensor and fan. Generally, the reason for the buzzing is a build up of dust. Try a squirt of compressed air from one of those computer cleaning cans.
