  1. I have had that, but it just came and went. I gave the car a good run into Derbyshire on Wednesday, fish and chips lunch, and plenty of fresh air. The engine returned 37 mpg, even though coming back I had the "S" button pressed to give the DPF a good regeneration. Peter.
  2. Welcome to the Club, John. There are lots of very helpful members in the club. I am just an old Steelworker whose favourite tool is a lump hammer -- but never on a Jaguar! Regards, Peter.
  3. I am thinking of front light surrounds for my S Type. They do look quite good. I did get a smallish Leaping Jaguar for the boot lid and it does look great. Peter.
  4. Welcome to the Club, Tom. There are quite a few experts who own x types-- nice cars -- who might have an idea. Regards, Peter.
  5. Sutton Coldfield, now, but I've worked in Motherwell, Workington, Teesside, Scunthorpe, Leeds, Bradford, Rotherham, Sheffield, Corby, the Black Country, Birmingham, Stoke - on - Trent, Shotton, Port Talbot, Newport, & London. Luckily I only had to move house 3 times.
  6. Welcome to the Club, Robin.. I don't know the answer to that problem, but I am sure someone will. Regards, Peter.
  7. My Tivo Box has to reboot when things go funny. Why can't Jaguar put a reboot switch on the dashboard? I think it would be a good idea, but I suppose putting a manual locking system on the XJ and XF boots comes first! Peter.
  8. And welcome to the Club, Richard. I hope you enjoy both the club and Your Jaguar. Peter.
  9. Hi Vinendra, Nice to see you posting. And can I say that is a useful bit of information. Regards, Peter.
  10. G' Morning Clive, Try Adamesh. There are loads of bits than can both embellish and upgrade your car. They are a reputable company. Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, Mark. A lot of very helpful members here. I think the E Type Challenger is a replica car, made, I guess, with Jaguar parts. Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Kevin, If the cars you are looking at have a full service history it should show if the cam belts have been changed. On the 2.7 Diesel in the S type they have to be changed at 105k, but I don't know about the X Type. Regards, Peter.
  13. And a welcome from me, too, Clive. I hope you enjoy the Club. Regards, Peter.
  14. Welcome to the club, Tony. Some batteries seem to last longer than others. My Rover battery was 8 years old when I had to replace it. Enjoy your XF. Regards, Peter.
  15. That is a good idea, James. I kept my Rover Sterling for nearly 12 years. It was mechanically sound, but getting tatty. It was a great car in respect of its equipment -- all the bells and whistles -- but, even though there are not many on the road any more, it was certainly not a classic car. My son described it as a mechanised sofa. It was certainly very nice to see how some cars had been restored to their former glory at the Classic Car Show, but I too would differentiate between the Classic Car and the vintage or veteran car. There should be a defined difference between Vintage, Veteran and Classic cars.
  16. Looks very good Matthew -- the colour suits the car. Peter.
  17. Yes. It is quite good. I use it when I need more than lukewarm water. Peter
  18. Absolutely true ---- but so is the Morris Ital. [i had two of those, but I keep quiet about it.] Company cars are not necessarily classic cars.
  19. You certainly can, Mick. Email Trevor and ask, giving address. Peter.
  20. I am of a certain age -- Triumph Herald, Austin A 40 Farina, Austin 1100, Ford Escorts Mk1 and Mk 2, Austin Maestro and Austin Montego, Rover Sterling. All now on show at the classic car shows. Peter.
  21. I know that this has been discussed before, but it happened to me again. The car was washed, dried and polished, and I decided to treat myself with a bottle or three of Pedigree. Up came "Parking Brake Fault." Disengaging the battery resets the computer, and everything works OK when you have reconnected it after 10 minutes, other than you have to put back all your settings which is a pain. However, when I came to get my well used spanners out none of them would fit. Every single one of them was in imperial measure. Inches and fractions of inches. I was able to get two metric spanners, one 8mm and the other 10mm as the connections are of different sizes. They are now taped to the battery.
  22. Graham, Trevor [the young one] will send you one. I am sure he won't mind me sending you his contact email address. You will just need to send him the address to which to send it. trevor.catt@autoclubsinternational.com Regards, Peter.
  23. Hi Graham, and welcome to the Club. The S Type, in my opinion, is a really beautiful car, both in looks and to drive. Today, it is sunny [but windy] in Sutton Coldfield and so my S Type will get a very good wash and polish. All you need now is an Owners Club Sticker. Regards, Peter.
  24. Good morning James, Have a look at Smile Windscreens who are based in Kent. I think the price could be dependant on factors such as rain sensors and heated. Let us know how you get on. Peter
