Hi Post some pics up of the parts your talking about re-chroming is more than likely dearer than replacing with new I'd look on ebay for good second hand ones, second hand ones can go very cheap and there's plenty of people out there breaking cars, so they can be had for a bargain also the younger generation of people having s-type because there retro look and been cheap, are replacing the chrome for the black gloss look, as its more modern, so chrome trims are on ebay regular once you find good ones, if there cleaned regular and a good wax put on them they should last cheers Joe

leather advice please
JOE-DOT-COM replied to teapot tony's topic in Jaguar Car Care and Detailing Inside & Out
Hi Have a look on ebay, I bought one that came as a kit, My car has Ivory leather and the kit I got worked great it came with every you need cleaner, dye and sealer, selection of sponges and polishing cloths find out what color your leather is exactly first, or it will look odd after mine had a small bit of cracking on the drivers side bolster, where you get in and out, you cant tell now cheers Joe -
Hi The one you want then the parrot mki9200 have fitted these before and they are very good you can also get the jaguar parrot loom that makes it plug and play cheers Joe

hi At a guess, one of your door locks has a faulty switch there's a switch inside each lock, door ajar switch, they can go sticky with age it should say which door is playing up usually if you take the door panel off and give the door lock a good dose of WD40, it should free it off worse case, you might have to take the door lock off, give it a good clean and oiling and that should do it cheers Joe

Hi check the gear change linkages on the gearbox, might need lubricating, they go notchy sometimes when they go dry I,ve seen this when engines are cleaned in garages and before selling a car to make them look better also might be worth checking the gearbox oil level cheers Joe
-
Hi At a guess, the caps faulty, there like a ratchet/clutch built into the cap on mine so you can over tighten it, at a guess it failed and just spins just needs a new cap you could try press or pulling while your trying to undo it to get it off maybe make sure engine cold when trying though, because of the pressure cheers Joe

Hi I like it, looks more modern cheers Joe

Hi My S-type R, says 120 kpa on the cap which I just googled is 17.4 psi and I just had a look on ebay and some are marked up 140 kpa which is 20 psi thats quite a bit of pressure, they do it because if you raise the pressure, it raises the boiling point, so stops overheating, water can be run hotter cheers Joe

Hi At a guess its gone faulty then Either the mech inside has broken or I've seen this if someone spilled pop on the button, making it all sticky inside If there's any breakers near you that would be the cheapest option cheers Joe

Hi Not sure on this can't find any info, just had a quick look the only thing I would do is if it in order, would E be No 5, you could pull cylinder 5 coil pack and swap it with the next easiest one start it and see if the fault shift to that cylinder, thats what I'd try cheers Joe

Hi Have you checked it with a multi meter check the battery voltage, should be over 12 volts, not running, with engine running 14 volts to 14.5 volts if you have over 14volts check the connections on the back of the alternator, battery warning light is operated by the alternator any thing under 13 volts with the engine running and you have a problem, check alternator belt is tight cheers Joe

Hi You have to plug in and see what the fault codes are, it can be one of many things fault code will narrow it down, have you checked all the fuses and disconnected and reconnected the battery cheers Joe

Hi That's good if there been no impact damage, then once they check the tyre, you should get a refund eventually I take it you don't have a full size spare wheel, just the space saver , as you could of put the spare wheel on I hate the space savers, I bought a full size alloy, there quite cheap for a good condition used one and they still fit in the boot, can't beat a full size spare cheers Joe

HI I'd say that's a manufacturing defect, in the material in the sidewall you need to get it changed as soon as, would not like to drive that at speed, as it could let go and make a right mess try going back to where you had them, they may be able to contact Pirelli and get it replaced free, they usually try to keep customers happy you have nothing to lose, may be worth a try thanks Joe
